Thank you for this video! Watching you set it up is so much easier than reading through instructions and figuring it out on my own.

Just got our dog collar today and the instructions were pretty vague. So many cords! I appreciate your video. It was extremely helpful.

Just an FYI, You are really good at showing/explaining on video. Again, concise, clear, to the point, no gum flap'n about non related crap.
I Would be interested to know if there are any issues with the Sportdog brand in your opinion? I have been considering the SportDOG SD-1825X Camo Wetland Hunter. My thoughts were I'd rather have too much range than not enough if it needs to reach out a long way across a rice field.

Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment. I have used the sport dog. When Garmin bought Tri-Tronics years back they changed their Sport Pro model and I hated it. Thank god somebody set them straight and they brought the sport pro back. The Sport dog worked but I found that the charger was flimsy and the collar wasn't as rugged as the Garmin. The two models are the same cost and I still like the the Garmin over the Sport dog. The Garmin also has two led lights on the collar that you can turn on and off from the transmitter. I take advantage of that option when I'm airing my dog out and setting up decoys in the field and on the river. Easy way to see my labs in the dark. The other nice option is the Garmin can be used as a bark collar and you can run three dogs from one transmitter if that's something that fits your lifestyle now or in the future. I hunt big Montana fields and I've never had an issue with Garmins range. It says it has a half mile range and as I've experienced that's plenty for field hunting and upland hunting. Good luck with your choice😊

@@flycreekkennels9559 thx for the explanation, details and your time. I like tough and rugged, it's an important 'feature'.

Could Garmin have possibly made this process any more complicated?

I've had the Garmin sport pro for about a week now and I had to charge the receiver, it had quite a few corrections on it. I have the collar on the dog about 8 hrs a day, Is that normal to charge the receiver about once a week or more depending on the work your doing? The transmitter didn't take much to recharge it. It took 2hr 30min to recharge the receiver.

I believe the receiver has about a 30 hour run time. It tells you in the instructions. So a charge once a week sounds about right if you're using it for 8 hours a day. I would caution you having it on the dog for that many hours a day. Keep an eye on the dogs neck to make sure there are no rub marks beginning to develop. I have seen that often when a dog wears the collar for extended periods of time every day.
The transmitter never uses as much battery as the receiver because the transmitter is only burning battery when you are pushing the button and sending a signal. the receiver on the other hand is always searching for a signal when it is turned on so it will most often need charging before the transmitter. Because of that, the transmitter will usually charge quicker. 2.5 hours of charge time for the receiver is normal if it is very low or dead.
