      @yuleyburrow Thanks for watching. I've only used a Kuranda bed in a giant crate that I own (it's a crate for a dog as large as a great dane) I normally don't put the kuranda in crates, but I do use them in my 5 X 10 ft Kennels. There is plenty of room for the dogs to walk around and then lay on top of the Kuranda if they choose. Hope that helps.

    I mixed 2 methods(some one on youtube & mine) to teach place, then find its(tossed treats), & blind find its to a pup. My place platform is 2 2x4s on edge on each side of a carpet-covered 2x12. 1st 'place', then to tossed treats with hand signal over their head, then 'find it' with another tossed treat 90degs that they don't see tossed(1st short then longer away, & using hand signal). Then you can teach stay. Then go to dummies. They automatically come back to the platform & sit down with dummy at my crotch level(I'm sitting in a chair with platform between my knees). They get rewarded when they come back & also, when using dummies, when they easily give up the dummy(in my hand) to get the treat. Then when thats going well inside the house, teach hold&give. Worked real well with my setter. Probably one of the few setters that does blind retrieves & retrieves to my side&sits&holds till I say 'give'... I taught a lab 40yrs ago so thot I'd teach the setter some retriever things. Alot of fun. The guy on youtube whose method I modified, he rewarded when they brot dummy onto platform but not necessarily in his hand. Then he tightened it up so rewarded only when dummy was put in his hand. In my method, pup is already coming to place & sitting (due to me only rewarding pup when sitting), so when using dummies, pup is already putting dummy in my hand(not rewarded if he doesn't), so I'm skipping one of his steps. Just makes sense to me. Hope all that makes sense. I think it removes the hardmouth tendency. Retrieve is about the reward, not the thing retrieved. Of course they are birdy but it helps to get passed the hard mouth/stingyness. The guy also doesn't use hand signals or tossed treats. His is just for delivering the dummy & soft mouth. In mine, those 2 plus beginning of retrieves&blind retrieves & hand signals, stay, & overs. I taught the setter overs to frozen birds&varied orders of tossing. Alot of fun when they get it. Can do all this inside, especially in the nice garage you have. Oh, guy used clicker but I gave up(kept forgetting :) , just used little shop bot treats(tractor supply, cabelas...peanut butter, chicken, or liver flavored). Toss treats in blankets or towels so they can't see & have to search/use nose. Of course carpet&treat having similar color works too. Can move place mat/platform to heel side after pup knows hold&give. 4month old pup is a finished retriever as far as the basics&soft mouthed.

    This is far more realistic than all the other videos I’ve seen. These guys claim your dog will be walking, not pulling in 10 mins. There is no gentle “pop”, but what I see is yanking roughly on their necks. Thank you, between myself, husband and teen, this looks doable.

    Got the two diagonal brackets secured with your excellent instructions. No idea why the 3rd side bracket won't fit properly. Been working on it for 20 minutes..... Have the large size Kuranda where I had to insert the plastic cording into the sewn channels first. Maybe that's where the problem is. Am almost ready to send it back to Kuranda. Nice bed, but doesn't do Roger a lot of good if I can't assemble it. NO reflection on your instructions; your demonstration is spot on and made it look easy-peasy. Thanks!

      Not sure if you tightened the corners down fully before moving to the next corner, but if you did, Don't. Just hand tighten the corners before moving to the next one. That will provide you with enough flexibility for you to assemble the final corner. Then go back through them and tighten them all down. If you made this mistake. Just disassemble and start over. Sometimes you do have to trim those plastic flexible rods with a clipper. You don't want those sticking out passed the seams. Hope that helps

    This looks awesome to me this dog trainer said that ball is not exercise that it actually breaks down the dogs joints especially if done a lot in the 1st 16 months before a puppies bones are fused. My dog loves to play ball and we do other things with him also. What is your take? Tia

    • @flycreekkennels9559
      @flycreekkennels9559 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe if it's all the dog does. In my opinion it is exercise. At least a small part of my dogs exercise. I don't do it everyday but I do something with them everyday. If you think about it dogs run hard while playing with other dogs. Cutting, turning, banging, rolling. I can't see how throwing a ball for them is any worse. We're all breaking down the moment we are born. After day one we're on a path to die. Live life while you can and do everything in moderation and let the chips fall where they may. The healthiest dogs I've been around are worked everyday. They play, they train, they run, they lay around etc. They stay active and they eat a healthy diet.🤷‍♀

    Just an FYI, You are really good at showing/explaining on video. Again, concise, clear, to the point, no gum flap'n about non related crap. I Would be interested to know if there are any issues with the Sportdog brand in your opinion? I have been considering the SportDOG SD-1825X Camo Wetland Hunter. My thoughts were I'd rather have too much range than not enough if it needs to reach out a long way across a rice field.

    • @flycreekkennels9559
      @flycreekkennels9559 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment. I have used the sport dog. When Garmin bought Tri-Tronics years back they changed their Sport Pro model and I hated it. Thank god somebody set them straight and they brought the sport pro back. The Sport dog worked but I found that the charger was flimsy and the collar wasn't as rugged as the Garmin. The two models are the same cost and I still like the the Garmin over the Sport dog. The Garmin also has two led lights on the collar that you can turn on and off from the transmitter. I take advantage of that option when I'm airing my dog out and setting up decoys in the field and on the river. Easy way to see my labs in the dark. The other nice option is the Garmin can be used as a bark collar and you can run three dogs from one transmitter if that's something that fits your lifestyle now or in the future. I hunt big Montana fields and I've never had an issue with Garmins range. It says it has a half mile range and as I've experienced that's plenty for field hunting and upland hunting. Good luck with your choice😊

    Thanks for the video!!! From all the research I did the Kuranda is super durable with Aluminum frame and proper strong canvas options but horrible comfort, breathability, and cooling. If they did a better job with the canvas in terms of comfort and breathability (not durability) it would be the best one out there hands down. There is one cot/bed that keeps popping up on all the Worth watching TH-cam reviews and other websites on google that do reviews on them and that is the K&H cot/place bed. I would love to here people who use K&H and Kuranda for there dogs regularly. Your thoughts please?

    • @flycreekkennels9559
      @flycreekkennels9559 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching. The dogs I have had on the kuranda beds seem to love them. They gravitate and lay on them voluntarily all the time. So that tells me they think they're pretty comfortable. I just checked out K&H on the web. Unfortunately they look really flimsy and the material is exposed to chewing around the edges. I'm sure the dogs would find them comfortable but since I've never used them around any dogs I couldn't speak to the comfort. I would still choose Kuranda hands down. Kuranda does offer a mesh material that is permeable to water so if your looking for a material with more air flow I would choose the mesh.

    Guys you should walk away from this video and trainer, Chris Akin goes to nationals and wins more titles with dogs he trains than this guy could dream about and in duck dog basics he force fetches right out of a bed of a side by side. Location isn't as important and getting the dog off the ground and the method of training. The arrogance of this guy is astounding and comical. A real trainer needs to be flexible and cater each lesson specifically to the dog and it's learning method...like teachers and kids a lot of it is manipulation and psychological...but remember the dogs are excited to please...that wasn't trained in them...they love to work and serve us...a good trainer is someone that can help the dog learn and understand despite what assets he has...I've learned from a guy who does so much with so little and has a National Master titled dog that took first in a NUCS competition her first time running it. Guys you have the right to walk away but don't be silly... voice concerns and ask questions that's how we all learn.

      Nicole Thanks for your comments. You should be so brave to leave the comment section open on the videos you create. As for Chris Akin, I'll let his work speak for itself. In response to my so called "arrogance". It's actually frustration. I produced this video to heed the warning to first timers that Force Fetch is not as simple as it is portrayed on a TH-cam. The frustration has developed over years because amateurs screwing up their dogs and then expecting a pro to come in and fix it. That conversation typically leads with " I watched a video on TH-cam" You stated it perfectly in your comment Nicole "A real trainer needs to be flexible and cater each lesson specifically to the dog and it's learning method...like teachers and kids a lot of it is manipulation and psychological. " How can a good teacher possibly do that through a video series on TH-cam that uses one or two dogs as an example? Any "real" trainer knows you can't. What always amuses me about folks like yourself that like to attack my character and this video is that I'm simply heeding a warning that maybe this step of the training should be left to those who have experience. Good luck to you and your dogs Nicole.

    Quick question I’ve had many dogs we actually raise them I’ve been around dogs my whole life and training my whole life you have definitely trained more dogs then I have no doubt but I think if your dog loves it unless your doing field trials or comps that if your dog puts it down to shake off is fine I mean I have hunted with hundreds of dogs and the ones I think I hate hunting with the most are ones that are completely finished by professionals such as yourself and they arnt any better then the dog my friend got that’s never trained a dog before and he got him for 100$ at the flee market I think if you train a dog by yourself the dog will love you and respect you and know your way better then some third party same with my dogs I am training now one finished dog one “hunting dog” and just today picked out my first ever puppy that I am gonna train myself with no help he’s only six weeks but the other dog I just started with obedience today and all of these dogs are my family’s feel free to check us out hb kennels but I agree on some things but some I do disagree the whole paragraph I typed was mainly to say don’t discourage someone who wants to train a dog or dosent have the money to send them to people like you or people like me who know a enough about it let them try and learn and they will end if they are committed with the dog that they love more and appreciate more then if they sent it off to get trained .

      Pepper There is so much to unwrap in this comment that my head is spinning but I do thank you for watching the video. Not sure you watched in it's entirety. I never said you shouldn't train your own dog. As a matter of fact I encourage people who have the time and desire to train their own dog, to do so. The gratification and relationship you get from the work is incredible. I just said that if you have never force fetched a dog you should leave that step to a person with the experience to navigate your dog through it. More importantly you should be extremely cautious of try to learn the process from a video on TH-cam. That's really my entire purpose of this video. To warn people that the process is more complex then people are lead to believe. I'll say it again. If you've never force fetched a dog you should leave this stage of training (if you believe this is the technique you should use) to a qualified professional . Good luck with the new pup. oh, and In my opinion you took the puppy from the litter way to soon. You should've waited until 8 weeks. JOMO

    How are you supposed to get to do hundreds of dogs if you don’t start with the first? There’s plenty of resources like courses, patreon, trainers that could walk someone through it.. you don’t need to do it alone I agree but i think there is a lot to learn for the dog and the trainer in doing it yourself. Lots and lots of videos on TH-cam of professional trainers showing you exactly how to do it

    • @flycreekkennels9559
      @flycreekkennels9559 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you watched my entire video you'd know I touched on all your comments. As like most people in any profession, I started under the supervision of a professional for almost a year and FF 5 dogs from start to finish before heading out on my own. After that I FF two personal dogs before taking on any clients. Each one of those dogs domineers was different and no video would've ever taught me what I learned in that first year. I did my best in my video to explain that there are so many nuances to the process and each individual dog has his/her own reaction that it can be dangerous and naive to believe your going to get the same reaction as one of those dogs in a video. You can watch a video of a trainer FF a dog and believe that your dog is going to respond the same way but in most cases he/she will not. You are correct. There are tons of videos trying to teach folks about the FF process. As far as I know mine is the only one discouraging first timers from attempting it. I made the video because I've seen people ruin good retrievers and then come to trainers like me to try to repair it and often the first comment out of their mouth is "I saw a video on TH-cam". With all that said, it's a free country and you are more then welcome to try the process on your own but you should know you really only get one shot at doing it right so you better not screw it up. Good luck and thanks for your comment.

    Great video and thanks for sharing it. I just started my 9 year old lab on upland hunting (I know, too late in his life) and he's been doing great with the gunfire orientation and using his nose for searching birds instead of just crumbs on the kitchen floor. He even flushed his first pheasant this past fall after a month of working with him in the yard. I'm at the stage now where the hunting season is over and it's now training season. I use harvested bird wings from this past season to keep him interested in the bird scent but want him to get excited like yours did in the video every 2-3 times we go out to train. We live in a small housing community and don't have a large area to keep training birds. How do you keep yours? What type of containment do you use? What do you feed them? Do you keep them outdoors? If so, what do you do when the weather is cold (sub 40 degrees)? Thank you!

      Thanks for your interest in the video. My pigeons are kept in an outside coop during the training season (March-Sept). Because I'm located in the north and can't keep them alive during the cold winter I then thin the heard and use them for live fliers in the fall. Each Spring I replenish them and the cycle starts all over again. I feed them a crushed corn. In your case it might be smarter to locate a local trainer and see if you can purchase them as needed. A local retriever club could be a great source too.

      My helper is using a blank gun with 209 primers. Hard for the microphone to pick it up but it is noticeable in real-time

    Lol so how did you learn? Of course the dog trainer would tell you to pay him to train your dog..

      Like most educated trainers, I apprenticed fulltime under a pro for almost a year. Trust me. There are easier ways to make a living then FF a dog. This video was created to heed warning to people who are naive to the challenges of force fetch. Not drum up business. I always love the up tick in views and sarcastic comments on this video this time of year. Just before the hunting season begins folks want that dog to "Just bring me the bird". They hear about this "Force Fetch" process and away they going. Off to TH-cam to solve my problems 😊😊 The sad part is when folks bring us broken dogs because they tried the process themselves. Then expect us to pull off a miracle and reverse the dogs negative experience that the owners created.

    Do you have the water bottle link?

      Unfortunately they don't make the bottle in this video anymore but I would recommend the Gatorade GX Water bottle. Its a little pricey at 19.99 but it's got a consistent stream. Here's a link www.amazon.com/Gatorade-10052000014782-Gx-Bottle-Black/dp/B07W4D57KK/ref=sr_1_3?hvadid=570455605392&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9021146&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=11444849224511521375&hvtargid=kwd-616301101847&hydadcr=17761_13462881&keywords=gatorade%2Bgx%2Bwater%2Bbottle&qid=1691597897&sr=8-3&th=1

    Complains about people Hoarding Ammo/Supplies. Then right after saying that, he basically says. Anytime he gets a chance, he buys as much as he can! The Irony! THATS EXACTLY WHY THERES A SHORTAGE! THATS EXACTLY WHY, THERE WAS A TP shortage! How haven't people figured it out yet? Lbs

      Not sure I was complaining about people hoarding Ammo just trying to inform others of the challenge they may face if they decided to go with the 209 Primer version. As for me I try to have 3 bricks of primers on hand at all times. As a pro I don't have the luxury of going without. Thanks for your Comment. Curious to what pistol you think is the best choice for you?
