Hi viperconcept. You forgot to mention another reason for braking with the left foot. Turbo cars keep the boost if you press the brake pedal and accelerator while braking. That allows for faster acceleration after braking.
Bot Dum i like it too. On gt6 i chase 1000 hp gt-r and supra but my 700hp rx7 is lighter. Everyone is overtaking you on the straights but in the corners (especially after the karussell) its fun to overtake them like a hot knife in butter. Lighter is better!
The RX-7 isnt that much slower in the straights when it comes to mid speed acceleration. And its isn't that much slower in a straight line compared to the Skyline and Supra.
Enjoyed the video man. Be careful with your brake pressure whilst heel and toeing like at 7:40 though lad, it's a real pain in the ass trying to get a consistent pressure whilst blipping the throttle but it's something to work on :)
I have to say, your content is really high quality. You are clearly a very skilled driver and are able to teach those skills in a very understandable way. I really like your channel and it really deserves more attention than it gets. The only thing that bothers me is your presentation - especially having to read your tips. In my optionion using text as the way to reach for your audience is not contemporary anymore. You may have your reasons but every new video I so much hope you finally speak to us. This would make this channel so much better! And you could really use a more professional intro :-p
Yo viper, I'm new to your videos and wanted to let u know you really make some entertaining stuff! Great editing and of course racing, you've got yourself a new subscriber :)
You can apply the brake hard at higher speeds, basic physics. You need to release some brake pressure at lower speeds because the kinetic energy is less. Therefore, at lower speeds you apply the brake firmly(slow but fast).
I do like a reverse technique that seems to work. I push the pedal all the way and slowly get off the brake and I don't get too many lockups and my laptimes improve a lot on abs off cars and 75% strengh abs setups on abs on cars
Thank you for this. I've just started sim racing with a wheel and pedal setup and though I can left foot break I wasn't finding it to be efficient or faster even though everyone is making such a big deal about how I need to do it all the time but in my experience it's no better. It should be used however for scrubbing speed, Keeping boost up on turbo cars and Rally racing but honestly in regular racing if you're left foot braking a lot it more than likely means your not braking enough into the first entry part of the corner. It's a good thing to be able to do it guy's but it's not something you should do al the time.
So, I drive an MX5 MK1 track, autosolo and drift driving , manual transmission obviously... Real life too... The car has quite neutral setup, which means on tight corners you can use some left foot braking to make it turn sharper...and I find that skill quite useful in all situations, although as you said rally makes most sense.
Khoopa best advice I can give a gamepad player, from being a gamepad player for about 10 years, if possible save somr money and grab a racing wheel something like a g920 or g29 they are relatively cheap and make the games 100% more immersive and whilst at first it may be a learning curve you will find that with the wheel you can become very consistent
im using the 360 controller on pc, with project cars. i followed some random tutorial on the internet on how to setup my controller settings, but thats pretty much it. every car handles differently, so you will have to learn. i recommend scalling down the steering ratio on every car, it gives that extra cornering ability to compensate the fact you cant rotate your joystick like you would a wheel.
I will say for braking slow cars first you must brake slowly to transfer the weight to the front wheels, once the weight is there you must push if you want full, this will lock the wheels if you turn the steering.
Good tutorial :)。AS you mentioned the left foot braking used on rally racing, do you play any rally game? Dirt rally? Your "Never give up" series make the race excited
Thanks, That's a good one I'm fast in the curves but everyone always out brakes me on the full speed to sharp corners. Have you tried Dirt 4 on simulation mode its great for learning weight transfer as well.
Viper-sensei, I'm playing pCARS without driving aids including ABS, so the wheel locks as I depress the brake pedal but to avoid that, should I increase the tyre pressure in front to increase grip and avoid wheel locking just in case (depressing brake pedal intensive)
What about the logitech g29? Do these rules still apply, or you just have to turn on ABS? I am asking this b/c the spring on the brake pedal is very firm, so therefore the baking dead zone is almost immediately.
So do we assume that the normal braking percentage on each car that they give us is the perfect one? Or are there better percentages depending on the type of track?
good question, but I have another for you. (if you played race room you'll know...)about the wtcc cars, they're all front wheel drive, but when i start braking, gently, the car looses the rear...don't know if i'm playing with the joystick or not,but everytime, every corner,,the car looses the rear
- Hard front anti-roll bar, soft rear anti-roll bar - full rear downforce - stiff front spings/dampers, soft rear spings/dampers - don't downshift too early - put softer tyres on the rear. - switch the brake bias more on the front All these things should add a great amount of understeer. If the car still oversteers or loses the rear while braking even after those changes, that means there's something wrong with your driving style with this class of cars. Just remember: when a FF car loses the rear or oversteers too much, just press the throttle to increase the understeer and regain the control of the car.
Don't heel and toe like this though. Keep a more regulated brake pressure on the toe when blipping the throttle with the heel. That bouncing of the brake like a light switch is bad for balance of the car.
Hi viperconcept, thanks a lot for so many tips and tricks. Learning so much. It is hard to “feel" the speed, no matter if using game pad or wheel with force feedback. Do you have some tip for this issue?
You can set the field of view (FOV) in some racing games like Assetto Corsa, Rfactor and Project CARS: this feature allow you to increase or decrease the sense of speed.
@viperconcept YO MAN , That Left foot braking clip was from Hot Version or Best Motoring International , wasn't it ? I sadly cant rember the car which he is driving , but it sounds like an EVO 6 or newer ^^ By the way, love your videos. I think you really are doing a great jop to the sim community. You approve many things I have lerned the hard way on my years, just wished that I encountered your channel sooner Keep on the good work ! Proud of ya !
Hello, viperconcept. I just found your chanel like less than a week ago, and I must say that you are a perfect driver! Maybe this will be a long comment, but I would ask you something (since you play both, Project CARS and Assetto Corsa): Which game should I buy? Project CARS or Assetto Corsa? Which game is better in some things, which game is worse in some things, which game has more players and which game has higher "fun factor"? My very first "sim-like" racing game was Shift 2: Unleashed (and I know that guys who made Project CARS also made NFS: Shift and Shift 2), even tho physics were not really accurate, but after buying a wheel and pedals, I had the greatest fun in the game. The game was really, really hard to master, but it was very satisfying and I felt like I was driving real cars. I can afford only 1 from these 2 "sim-like" racing games, so I would be really glad if you would help me to decide which one should I buy. And sorry for this long comment.
hi viperconcept, I want to know your wheel setting in assetto corsa, I have G27 but I want to adjust the advanced controller setting to be as realistic as possible. I haven't changed the advanced setting since 1 or 2 years ago, due to several major updates I think I need to readjust the advanced control setting for my wheel. I pay more attention to the way how you correct the steering it seems so light, so easy to turn so you didn't miss the moment, while mine it feels so heavy to turn the wheel, I want to compare my setting with your setting.
I can see you're not using completely ideal racing lines when driving fast, is there a reason for that? is it because you'd need to brake more to go more on the inside therefore losing more speed?
Viper traz um vídeo ensinando alguma forma de aprender a tangência das curvas longas, sempre me perco em curvas grandes como as de Willow Springs e acabo perdendo tempo. seria um ótimo vídeo. valeu brother!
viperconcept i would like to see you having a video just using drift rather than grip. You can do tutorial for drift or just going full lap with drift :D As always, i like your vids
Thank you, btw I'm pretty sure that console AC doesn't support mods (maybe it does) but do you have any tips on Akina, the most well known AC touge map? And maybe tips on the RUF CTR Yellowbird, that thing is an absolute devil
Helo viperconcept, i d like to get introduced into racing simulation games and i dont know what are the best videogames out there, id like to play dirt rally because it seems pretty challenging but i want to see your opinion about other simulation games pd: i have a logitech gt steering wheel
Try Rfactor 2 or Assetto Corsa: both games have the most realistic physics ever, even if the graphics are a bit outdated. Dirt Rally is a good simulation but it hasn't the same accuracy of the 2 previous games in terms of physics.
what if im an xbox controller pleb P.S. I find ABS slowing me down a bit sometimes. Anyone's got this feeling too? Also, my tip from me: Don't mimic other racers. Maintain your own pace, your own lines and your own braking zones. Sooner or later you will mimic his mistakes.
Still great performance. I will be building a gaming rig with my son this summer. Have an old workstation Xeon X3360 (q9550 running at 3.4ghz) with 8gb Mem. Lookig for a gtx 670 grafics card to add to the system.
NEED HELP!! Guys can anyone help me? In Assetto Corsa i can't lock my steering wheel on 720 degrees. I have my setup profile with Thustmaster T150 and I have a slider on 269 degrees, but when i save it and go to the track, it's still on 1080 degrees so my car don't turn as sharp as i want to. Unpluging usb is useless. And i have to mention that i have this problem only in Assetto Corsa, in Project Cars everything works just fine. Anyone have an idea what is happening?
Hey viperconcept, love your videos. I started playing rFactor , and I downloaded the F1 2016 WCP Mod. As soon , as I started driving the F1 Car, I fullthrottled it and lost control in the pits (XD) Then I was thinking how do you drive a F1 car, because its +800HP, and then I remembered your video lesson ''How to drive powerful cars'' and you said when driving , on 1st gear start increasing the throttle gradually , not fullthrottle it instantly. I got the memo but im too impatient and spin out a lot. Also rFactor is my first proper sim. Thank you for the lesson anyways , love your videos.
i just started playing project cars and i learned real quick that throttle management is a MUST along with heating up your tires and brakes to optimal temperature before smashing the gas.
My main tip is too focus on safety and clean racing over speed. Once you nail that, you'll be much less likely to spin/off/crash, and speed will come naturally. You'll be able to see where you can and can not brake later, accelerate harder/earlier etc. Also, in some corners, you're going in at a good speed, but accelerating too early and understeering. Try to keep off the throttle until the apex, there you can get on the throttle and fly out the corner. As I mentioned before, over time you'll learn which corners you can accelerate into, which you can feather the throttle through etc. Also, as a more minor note, you're shifting way too early sometimes and banging it off the limiter. It's good to shift early to get stronger engine braking earlier, but make sure you shift late enough to avoid the limiter.
Thank you! Also if the car goes tail-happy , now i have fast reactions so I can avoid spinning off with the help of countersteer, but on replay cameras it looks funny to see an F1 car sliding around the corner
From the way PCars1 turned out, get Assetto now. Even if PCars 2 turns out to be very good, it's still worth getting AC too. PCars 2 would have to be insanely good to justify getting it solely over AC.
Hi viperconcept. You forgot to mention another reason for braking with the left foot. Turbo cars keep the boost if you press the brake pedal and accelerator while braking. That allows for faster acceleration after braking.
Forgot. My fault. ^^
viperconcept dont worry mate, i love the video ! just wanted to point it out
Jorge Del Rey Bruh... i just watch tiametmarduk (Ben) an f1 youtuber. and he also got a catwheel from accident in a league racing with skunk vtec.
left foot braking was what was making the Scandinavian rally drivers so bloody fast, back in the days
Lars Ivarsson not only rally drivers but audi 200 can am drivers forma example
Good stuff, I always like to chase the stronger cars with the AE86 on Nordschleife
You...I like you XD
Bot Dum i like it too. On gt6 i chase 1000 hp gt-r and supra but my 700hp rx7 is lighter. Everyone is overtaking you on the straights but in the corners (especially after the karussell) its fun to overtake them like a hot knife in butter. Lighter is better!

Well, just in time viperconcept! The no ABS braking tips are gonna be very useful to me!
With your videos I went from being a complete noob to feeling 5% more professional. Thank you, keep uploading these please Cx
So it's not me that is bad at racing games.... It's just the fact that I use a keyboard...
Thats illegal
wait... you are that one masochist that tries to win in ranked races on a keyboard
You the that Alt tabs by accident before t1 every time?
I was looking more at the heel and toe than the brake bar XD Impresive. Love your videos by the way! Really good content and helpful! :)
Those shoes... Damn...
I saw a loli bout 3 clicks out, might wanna check that out...
can u pls make a video how to save your tires i all ways have that problem
There's already a video for that. Go check his older uploads!
rip controller players
Meh, he did a video on that, so not really.
Nah i have make very good times with controllers coming close to the first places, so is just a question of training.
Galvanized Dreamer when?
Still wont be as fast as a proper wheel when it comes to sims. Close, but not quite. You'll burn your fuel and shred your tires 2x as fast too.
controllers working with same technique when you push slower car going slower
Thank you! I needed some advice on braking at low speeds. The 1982 911 Turbo is a bxtch with no ABS
I have to say, your content is really high quality. You are clearly a very skilled driver and are able to teach those skills in a very understandable way. Are there any tips you can give to a gamepad player?
I'll make a video about that in the future... ;)
Understandable, have a nice day and thank you.

thats the worst advice ever. clearly if he had the money he would already buy a 300$ wheel.

Great video as always, keep up the good work, contenuto molto bello :D
If You don't have a chasis, the hardest thing is yo breake without going 3m backwards and avoiding all the pedals lift from the floor
So do we assume that the normal braking percentage on each car that they give us is the perfect one? Or are there better percentages depending on the type of track?
Hiya viper good video as always. Have got any tips for crossing over from pad too wheel???
OMG, that coordination... 8:00
This guy is a masterful racer. The best I have seen till now.
none of the oppoinents i race have a racing line so i have to follow them as they zigzag around the track?
OTTIMA guida, proprio ultimamente mi stavo chiedendo come frenare meglio e ottimizzare i punti di stacco. Grazie mille ;)
Comunque la frenata col sinistro, secondo me, può tornare molto utile, se coordinata bene nei corner medio-lunghi per ottimizzare la ripartizione di peso, anche con vetture a trazione posteriore.
Very simple and understandable
I love yours videos. Thanks!
You should do a video with off road racing games like dirt rally. That would be dope!
good question, but I have another for you.
(if you played race room you'll know...)about the wtcc cars, they're all front wheel drive, but when i start braking, gently, the car looses the rear...don't know if i'm playing with the joystick or not,but everytime, every corner,,the car looses the rear

thanks for the advice viper!
you should try the race room sim...it's amazing!
Great lessons! Thanks!
what's the song at 0:17 ?

The HUD overlay in your version of AC is totally different from mine but I kinda like it. Is it a mod? If so where can we find it?

did you invert your pedals yourself or thats how they came in the t500rs?
Thanks a lot Viper!
Your videos keep getting better in production quality, hope you will get a mic soon too, the text is sometimes off putting
I think he once spoke in a GT6 online race video. It was on Apricot Hill if I remember correctly.

If you think physics are more important than graphics buy Assetto Corsa. ^^
Thank you for answer. I think I know which one I'll buy. Cheers :)
After having played way too much Dirt: Rally, I find left foot braking to be perfectly natural.
what if I brake with the left foot and make a left foot heel-toe ?

As always, i like your vids
the good exemple for this situation is jordan cox with is honda civic :)

Also if the car goes tail-happy , now i have fast reactions so I can avoid spinning off with the help of countersteer, but on replay cameras it looks funny to see an F1 car sliding around the corner
Teach racing lines please?
Is a copy cat technique good when racing while having no idea on how to really race?
Develop your question please.
Guys, Is it worth getting Asseto corsa now or should I wait for Project Cars 2?
(Don't have a wheel)
From the way PCars1 turned out, get Assetto now. Even if PCars 2 turns out to be very good, it's still worth getting AC too. PCars 2 would have to be insanely good to justify getting it solely over AC.
Alright looks like I'm getting AC then thanks!
