But as I said, pretty much all the licensed music that was in the dubs of those _DBZ_ short films doesn't tie into the story; they're just there to be a soundtrack (which is the worst kind of justification). And I wouldn't say I hate the Bruce Faulconer score from _DBZ,_ but I feel the tonality and instrumentation doesn't really fit the genre of the story. Literally Lord Slug is a retelling of the original DragonBall series' King Piccolo arc. I believe the current Piccolo isn't just the son of King Piccolo but also the essence of him, thats why Kami disappears when he dies, and he still had ingrained hatred for Goku when he was younger.
Piccolo Jr. (our Piccolo) is at the same time King Piccolos son and his resurrection. He inherited all of King Piccolos life essence, power and memories. Because of that he is still linked to Kami. But he still developed into his own person person.
If you remember in DBcemeber video of the movies, most of the Z films reconceptualize past and current story-lines with the joke being how this movies, and later Return of Cooler, being the most blatant of this. My day got so much better seeing this up. As far as the Abridged movies go, this one is definitely my favorite, plus it's always nice to see Kirby's reactions and Kyle's knowing glances to the audience. 😁

King Piccolo was the 2nd to last arc. The last arc was the 23rd World Martial Arts tournament where Goku fought Piccolo Jr. (current Piccolo) and finally won the tournament after finishing runner up in the 21st and 22nd tournaments.
This is mostly for kirby. For me, season 1 was where they were figuring out how to do abridged, season 2 was where they ironed out the kinks, and season 3 was where they found their stride and mastered abridgement. I say that if you like season 2, season 3 will make you unable to watch non-abridged anime (or at least not enjoy it nearly as much).

He's the one that was split off from Kami when the latter was trying to purge himself of all evil so he'd be worthy to be Earth's guardian. He's the second to last arc of the original Dragon Ball series and arguably it was the first arc to somewhat resemble Dragon Ball Z's storytelling structure. The joke here is that a lot of the stuff Lord Slug does is ripped off from the stuff King Piccolo did during his arc. For example, both used the Dragon Balls to restore their youth so that they could regain their peak power.

Toei wanted to implement the Super Saiyan form, but didn't have a complete description on the form since Toriyama was still in the process of making it, so they pieced together what they had and made this infamous form the community now and forever dubbed the False Super Saiyan. 11 days after the movie came out, the manga revealed the true Super Saiyan form in all it's glory (another fun fact: the original manga design went with golden hair because it saved time and ink for Toriyama to color in the artwork, since manga's are in black and white, and blonde doesn't require any black ink)
Though Goku was short for his age, he and Bulma were the same age going through Dragonball series. I think he was like 15 when they met or something like that, it has been many years since I watched the first episode. Also, Goku's line at the end there about wishing Krillin, Roshi and Chiaotzu back is from that series. It was who died before he beat King Piccolo.

If you think about it, it makes sense that they won't use it given that the increased size and power comes with a LOT of downsides. If I remember correctly, Jr stopped using it during his fight with Goku specifically because of the risk of Goku jumping in his mouth and ripping him apart from the inside.
Also, Goku said he'd love to take Chi Chi to Toy Land, and that "She'd love it here". And all that, considering that they are fighting in a bit of a red light district.
No Krillin owned count in movies as they are not canon. Also Namek Dragon Balls can be used every 6 months. So the 6 months previously was inentional as Guru did wish for a postal system to let Slug know about Earth. Those details are great. TFS writing got soo good with details.

Fun fact about Goku's "Super Saiyaman" form aka False SSJ: In the original dub, King Kai calls this Super Saiyan, but this movie was made around the same time the Manga was in the Namek arc. Toei wanted to implement the Super Saiyan form, but didn't have a complete description on the form since Toriyama was still in the process of making it, so they pieced together what they had and made this infamous form the community now and forever dubbed the False Super Saiyan. 11 days after the movie came out, the manga revealed the true Super Saiyan form in all it's glory
(another fun fact: the original manga design went with golden hair because it saved time and ink for Toriyama to color in the artwork, since manga's are in black and white, and blonde doesn't require any black ink)
Though Goku was short for his age, he and Bulma were the same age going through Dragonball series. I think he was like 15 when they met or something like that, it has been many years since I watched the first episode. Also, Goku's line at the end there about wishing Krillin, Roshi and Chiaotzu back is from that series. It was who died before he beat King Piccolo.

Disturbed "Stupify" is the song. All the "What" references are to Stone Cold Steve Austin, as is the broken glass and music at piccolo's appearance. Stone Cold is actually mostly deaf and it led to an obnoxious crowd chant of "What?"

The reason is because in the original dubbing of Lord Slug when he goes Giant they start playing Stupify by Disturbed.
A lot of the original dubbings of the Dragon Ball Z movies had different rock songs, one of the ones I personally remember is Change by Deftones in Cooler's Revenge.

The similarities are they're evil Namekians and wish for their Youth. Originally Slug was NOT Super Kami Guru's other half.

If you think about it, it makes sense that they won't use it given that the increased size and power comes with a LOT of downsides. If I remember correctly, Jr stopped using it during his fight with Goku specifically because of the risk of Goku jumping in his mouth and ripping him apart from the inside.
Also, Goku said he'd love to take Chi Chi to Toy Land, and that "She'd love it here". And all that, considering that they are fighting in a bit of a red light district.
No Krillin owned count in movies as they are not canon. Also Namek Dragon Balls can be used every 6 months. So the 6 months previously was inentional as Guru did wish for a postal system to let Slug know about Earth. Those details are great. TFS writing got soo good with details.
