Kalashnikov KS12 vs Winchester White Box

- This is a shooting review of the Kalashnikov KS12 12 gauge shotgun using several types of ammunition--notably the notorious Winchester White box Wally World #8 bird shot. The shotgun is new to me - via Rock Island Auction - but doesn't look to have seen much use. The KS12 is 2x to 2.5x the price of a Lynx 12 (previously reviewed) but about 25% cheaper than the Saiga 12.
The iphone I use for recording does a weird thing where the audio kind of dies for several seconds after shooting. I was hoping the wireless mic would solve that issue but no joy. On the upside, it did filter out most of the wind noise.
If this is fresh out the box with no break in this is very impressive
It was not out of the box as I had gotten it through Rock Island Auction. You can find a short of the dust cover launching at my face. I replaced it and added a brake and did a follow up video.
Damn that thing is kicking those shells 100 yards away. Nice...
I think I've had one failure to eject in 200-300 rounds and that was the last round in a magazine when the hull was extracted enough to be lying on top of the magazine that I had to remove.
@@ronquixote1739 That's still pretty impressive. It looks like a fun time seeing that it cycles walmart cheap ammo pretty reliably. Great Range day.
@@NBWDOUGHBOY I consider Winchester White Box the acid test for any semi-auto shotgun and the KS-12 does well with it. Here's the link to the follow up video that shows the effectiveness of the brake. th-cam.com/video/TVBPFjK0QIA/w-d-xo.html
@@ronquixote1739 nice I'll check it out
@@NBWDOUGHBOY the brake makes a big difference
Hello! Good video I got mine a day ago, didn’t hear it in the video but did you use the high or low gas setting? Thanks!
I set it to 2 for bird shot and 1 for high power loads. The way I remember it is that 2 lets more gas into the action - needed to cycle lighter loads - and 2 is bigger than 1.
Garbage gun. I got one. Sucks to reload it. If it came down to it I would empty mag and drop the gun instead of reloading it
I have had no issues what so ever. I reload it and fire, have a great time doing it too.
@@babye11368 to insert full magazine bolt has to be pulled back for it to go in easily
@@babye11368 I wish this wasn't true lol
As you can see in the video, I manually lock open the bolt between magazines using the safety lever as loaded magazines won't load when the bolt is forward.
@@ronquixote1739 I would hate to see that done in a stressful situation
