      My dad did the same exact thing with a group of his friends during a grad event at Busch Gardens Tampa in the late 70s or early 80s. Busch Gardens Tampa used to have a coaster exactly like this one called Python, and he told me that since there was nobody in the park, the ride ops let them keep going around again and again without getting off.

    Hello Old Friend. I did get to ride this before it was relocated many eons ago. Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. Wow! And now the Vekoma "Boomerang" that replaced "Corkscrew" has also been relocated and is still in operation. I miss these coasters but it's a small park and we don't have room to keep them all.

    Out of all of Arrow’s roller coasters, this one has to be the most innovative. It’s kinda crazy that several coasters likely wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for this ride, and many of our memories riding roller coasters may not have happened if it wasn’t for Corkscrew.

    Knott's Berry Farm was the first location this particular corkscrew recided. Alot of identical corkscrews were built as well including at Geauga Lake Park and was later moved to MGM Dizzie World

  • @chrisroode
    @chrisroode 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I was going to guess Geauga Lake (six flags ohio)...but I'll rcdb that. These rides are becoming a relic of history quickly. One of the great features of the arrow corkscrew is the fixed spiral. You get this painful jolt as you take that left turn against the bank, then the train freezes in place as you watch the world spiral around you. My uncle wanted to see a triple or quadruple corkscrew like that. I think it would be cool...you could also do some weird forced perspective by adding decorations to the focal point of the curve...okay, I'm rambling.

    • @CrestwoodRocks
      @CrestwoodRocks 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah Geauga Lake had their copy built in 1978. Their corkscrew is at MGM Dizzie World

    • @GoudLoodje
      @GoudLoodje 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you're talking about Sea Viper, don't you? It was built by the same manufacturer (Arrow Development) and the layound indeed almost was the same. The only difference is that the lift hill is 6 meters taller to complete the vertical loop. Really a shame that it's gone, since it was really a classic ride that doesn't get built anymore. They could have at least relocated it :(

    There were certainly many Arrow Dynamics corkscrew coasters throughout the 1970s and 80s, with many still in operation. What sets this one apart is that it was the first. Do you know where it stood for nearly 15 years before moving to Silverwood?
