A lot of us in Edinburgh are disappointed this bus, which was preserved, is now for sale and has been for a while. Hopefully a worthy owner invests in it soon.
Very good condition as you might expect from Lothian Buses. Lothian always famous for their Maroon colour on the outside of their vehicles, similar to that of Heart of Midlothian FC. Lothian have used a lot of Volvos over the years. Used to be tons of Leylands back in the day, but much more Volvo and Alexander Dennis now. Don't really know if they use any MAN or Scania.
@@kujrsa Lothian also had a Scania N94UD/East Lancs OmniDekka (SN04 CPE) which was numbered 999 and it operated on services 37/37A (Penicuik Deanburn - Silverknowes/Muirhouse). The Scania OmniCitys that Lothian used for service 35 previously operated the Airlink service 100.
After 112 (SN04 NHC) entered preservation (in addition to 701 [SN55 BJX] , 664 [SN04 AAJ] & 210 [M210 VSX]) in Early April 2019, Lothian sold it to Pulham's Coaches in August 2020.
The Scottish vintage bus museum the folk their don’t like low floor buses only reason they now have dart 61 is that every vintage bus museum has to have at least wheelchair accessible bus so bus 701 I’m guessing is potentially still with this group shame but the folk at Bridgeton don’t want it as they already have at Least 3 low floor buses in their collection maybe 🤔 if u include Archie bus but he’s of the road at the moment needs some work done and I think 🤔 the folk at GVVT don’t want 701 as it’s not a former Glasgow bus
Bus 701 was never preserved simply repainted and re trimmed especially for the 100th anniversary Lothian were already in the process of selling the Volvo B7s by that point and I’m guessing it was also their plan to sell 701 after the open day 701 didn’t attend the cavalcade the following day to the bus refusing to start at Longstone and was sold of like 112 the following year to hunters coaches 112 was also sold to hunters before moving to England 🏴 112 is now back in Scotland 🏴 owned by Aron’s of wick who also own ex Lothian 126
Both 701 and 112 were officially persevered and part of the Lothian heritage fleet but were sold of in 2020 during lockdown but it that didn't happen they'd most likely still be part of Lothian's heritage fleet. They didn't go to all that effort on both of them repainting them, retrimming the seats, taking out LED's and putting roller blinds back in (on 701) just for then to be on display for the celebrations.

@@Clawmaster05 The Volvo B7TL Gemini preserved at Bridgeton is SF54 TKZ which was new to First Glasgow as 32615 in late 2004/early 2005.

It used to be preserved but Lothian sold the vehicle during the covid lockdown to get some extra money
