I believe this lens will be a good chance to fully convert over to Z lens selection and sell off all my F mount glass and D850 camera and go forward with all Z glass for my Z9. No more need for FTZII adaptor (weight/length) and lighter lenses (Z line) across the board. Nikon has found their way with these new lens offerings. A Z8 would be my choice as a second camera to my Z9. Thanks Haj! Good video.

I was also thinking about it at some point BUT I could not switch completely to z mount. It is just too expensive. Even if I sell my 500 f4, 400 f2.8 and 600 f4, I will barely cover HALF the cost of the 600 f4 tc.

@@hajakelyphoto It is sad it is a rich man;s game to be in photography with professional level equipment. I ended up working two jobs just to afford my photo gear! LOL Now I am retired and can enjoy taking photos.

Enjoy. I still have 27 years to go before I can enjoy photography full time

Congrat! If you plan to go strictly Z lenses then I would say it is a must to have lens.

Nikon still sells the 200-500. You're looking at going to probably 2 af-stepping motors + a 120mm gain. When the 200-500 is not on sale, it is only $300 US more. Sell my 200-500 for about $ 650 US & the new lens cost me $1050 plus I got to use it for 10 years. Truth be told, if I stay with Nikon, I will probably keep it & get the 800pf if I can't find a good deal on a F-mount 600mm FL for around $6500US. I have already seen them for that price but who knows what kind of shape it was in until one actually sees the lens.

1050 is a good deal. Here in europe, it cost 1999 🥺. I preorder as soon as the lens was announced. Planned to bring it on our holiday this October but it did not arrive so I cancelled my preorder.
I will keep using my 200-500 and maybe next year or later I will try to get it again.

@@hajakelyphoto you realize that number is after selling my 200-500 & using the money from that toward the new lens. I believe it is selling for $1699 in the US. Happy shooting.

I see. But the US price is still much better than the EU price though. I am in the wrong continent it seems.
May I ask? How do you like the new lens compare to the 200-500?

@@hajakelyphoto don't have it. Still shooting the D810. I'm going to upgrade early 2024 hopefully to mirrorless. See what Nikon offers at that time. I'll try the Z9 or whatever they replace the Z6/7-II with & if the AF still jumps off a lot I'll just pick up a ZF or D850 to use with my lenses rather take the hit & try out Sony & Canon for wildlife. I don't really need more than 10-12 fps as a hobbyist as long as the buffer clears in a decent time. But could use the extra reach if I purchase a Nikon mirrorless. But don't want to settle for less as far as AF goes when it comes to wildlife or should I say, BIF.

Photography is a business for me so price of gear is no big deal, the clients are paying for it at the end of the day.

I would like to be able to turn photography as my main income, but it will not happen in the near future yet.
