I HATE shaving the upper lip. No matter how much time I take, I always get at least a couple pink spots. Ill try this out

For some reason, I cannot get under my nose with a safety razor. I have no choice but to keep a Schick Hydra nearby and use that last for under the nose. Nothing gets closer to the nose than the Schick Hydra.

Watched your video and gave the nose part a try. First time I have no stubble under my nose in a long time. Many thanks for this. The solution should have been as plain as the nose on my face - but wasn't.

I received a safety razor for christmas and i have had some issues with the mustache area. It is good to see that the way i naturally tackled the problem the way you suggested, but i still cut myself. I will try to be more gentle and make sure not to go over an area that has no lather.

    Thanks again,
but I find the upward or "against the grain" strokes cause ingrowing hairs and have on occasion cut the lip,so I just go with the down and outward strokes, and only use a DE Merkar razor with a good shave cream, and have only once tried to shave nasal hairs!!!!!

Doesn't shaving upwards cause in grown hairs and acne break outs?

I agree which is why I still hold onto my norelco electric double foil razor. Mainly for the upper lip and occassionaly for those "in a hurry" shaves to finish up after 2 passes. A new blade lasts me 2 years at least.

This is what I've been doing. I received a Merkur long handled razor for an early Father's Day gift. I've shaved ~7 times thus far. My only cuts are actually on the lower rim of my nostril, as I try to angle the blade the right way to get those last few hairs beneath my nose. These nose cuts are nasty and bleed quite a bit.
Until I get better with the razor I use the merkur for the rest of the face, and the Fusion precision blade under my nose.

Can any type of razors be used for the multiple under the nose shave like how you demonstrated in the video?
for example, a two, three or four blade razor wouldn't matter, would it?

First of all, I'll echo the posts so far. I've been a subscriber for 2 years now... (and a traditional wet shaver for about 2 weeks less)
I notice in this installment you're not using your usual everyday razor? Did someone finally pry your Merkur Progress from your cold dead hand? ;-)

@daboss212 probably because you need to adjust your angle for every millimeter as it's a very contoured area

    Hi Mantic,
Thanks for the tips once again. I unfortunately have a hard time shaving under my nose because it irritates my lip is I try to do more than 3 rounds at it. Plus, it doesn't help that I have dark hair follicles that make it look like I perpetual stubble even after shaving. Oh well. Thanks anyways! :)

Thanks, Im new to wet DE shaving, Recently bought a kit, DE 89 Jagger razor, Proraso sandalwood soap, Omega s brush, blades mixed pack, and alum sticks. £35. Getting nice shaves, using astra sp blade. Tried a feather blade today, had my first nick! Under the nose is difficult, so appreciate any tips.

QUESTION: I use a double edge safety razor I recently bought. I virtually always get cut when trying to shave the mustache area under the nose. I should specify for further clarity. I can actually shave around the lips and very close to the nose very well. But the 1mm area of hairs directly under the nose and slightly inside the holes of the nostrils make it apparently impossible to shave with a double edge safety razor due to the fact that the borders of the razor on the sides and in front are greater than the distance the hairs come into contact with my nose. ... I actually cut the flesh on my nose sometimes. Yes, I can cheat by a Hydro 5 to easy shave that area. For some reason the +1 blades of the Gilette Fusion do not do as good of a job. ... But I would like to know if there is a way to successfully shave that area with a double edge safety razor. Thank you.

Have you tried lifting you nose away like shown in the video? If that still docent work try a strait razer (the type with disposable blades) to get those tight spots, that's what i use because of my course hair growing so close to my nose. I lift my nose and come downward with the blade, then at an angle. I hope that helps.

After following this and going with and across the grain, it didn't cut any hair. Going across the grain made me bleed and there was still stubble. Going back to electric now..

I'm in the same boat. I'm curious, is your skin pale? Do you not get much sun? Are you underweight? Is the hair really hard and parallel to the skin? I'm curious if those factors contribute to this problem.

I noticed that you got a pretty good and close shave but your skin is still darker under your shaved areas just like a women who shaves under her arms? Is this hair that just cut as short as possible? Is this hair under the skin? Has the skin darkended under the hair?

How long does this technique usually take you do to? I'm being shipped to Air Force Basic Military Training in under a month so I've been shaving my whole face every day to practice (I used to have a mustache and a soul patch thingy). I kinda do my own multipass (yours is better) but I really need to cut down. Since starting this my shaving time went from 7-10 minutes to near 20.
