Are you a Professional or DIYer? ..Do you own a professional or a budget DIY Airless Paint Sprayer? Great to hear from you all and get your feedback.. if you’re thinking of purchasing a sprayer or getting into spraying I’m happy to offer my help and advice.. Regards Pete 🎨💯
Another great video Pete, never seen one in action. Thanks for the video. Finished all the 7 school classrooms plus an extra 4 hallways and corridors added on. Secured lots more work as a result! You gave me the confidence to take it on. Thank you!👍
Ah that’s great to hear Allan 💯 ..Shows that the investment into spraying can pay for itself 👍 ..You’re gaining confidence all the time, great news 💯 Keep in touch my friend, always happy to give help and advice if I can.. regards Pete
I’m using an airless sprayer for the last 5 months now and will only use a brush or a roller if the job is a tiny touch up. Yes, it takes time to mask everything, but there’s no comparison to the finishing of the sprayer. Anything over a shoe size job, just spray. I’ve hear someone saying, ; “ You don’t paint a car with a brush or a roller do you? “ 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hey Augusto, I’m so pleased to hear you’ve embraced airless spraying and you’re having success.. you’re very wise, and wise words of wisdom.. well done my friend.. keep in touch.. regards Pete
Hi Pete, wonderful seeing you put a Wagner Control Pro 250 through its paces (as you know I have a personal interest with my 350M!). Seeing your settings will help me a great deal, as is your idea of overlapping the masking film to create a protected doorway - thank you. I do have one observation for any readers that might have bought one of these machines. Whilst the Wagner hose connections (machine and gun) are non-standard, and only capable of fitting a Wagner hose, the same is not the case with the tip end of the Wagner gun. This can directly take a Graco clean shot or, indeed, a Graco 7/8” tip guard, meaning that it is possible to use the range of Graco tips. As you know, the Graco Jet Roller has an inline gun, which cannot be used (hose won’t connect), and trying to use the Wager gun with the Jet Roller is so awkward that I gave up after 30 seconds! As Wager have used a standard tip guard thread on their gun one can, at least, connect a Graco extension, etc. to it. I’ve no idea if the combination of using a non HEA tip on the Wagner HEA machine has any downsides but thought I’d share this anyway. With thanks and best wishes, Rob
Hey Rob, great to hear from you.. Awesome information, thank you very much for sharing .. Yeah I used the Wagner TradeTip 3 Tip Holder 7/8” to take the HEA ProTip (515).. I often use this on the Graco Contractor gun.. I rate these tips ..The Graco LP tips are great.. if you wanted to use the Graco RAC X tip guard.. I’d stick to the LP tips (like the HEA), the Wagner Control Pro 250M / 350M are designed for low pressure spraying.. keep in touch, I’m happy to help anytime if I can.. Pete
Hey Rob, hope you’re well my friend.. when you get chance could you look at the question on here from “alpha dog”.. I’ve gave my input but wondered if you have anything extra to offer with your experience of the 350M.. I appreciate your knowledge 🙏 regards Pete Ps I tried to @ you in my reply, not sure if that reaches you 😆
Great job there!what do you think of the control pro as a sprayer?i have control pro 350m which i use mainly on exteriors like pebbledash, works well for me and cleaning it is very easy, havent used mine inside yet
Hey Edmond, great to hear from you buddy.. Yeah I enjoyed it, coupled with the HEA ProTip 515 it sprayed nicely. Shane you can’t dial in the pressure and you don’t know what pressure you’re at.. understandably though, it’s scaled down for a budget.. As a result somebody new to spraying perhaps wouldn’t get the true airless spraying experience.. you’re right, the clean up is fast. I thought I’d find it slower because I’m used to a hopper. The water shoots out of the waste pipe 😆 ..Thanks for your input my friend.. have a go spraying inside, perhaps a ceiling like this.. remember if you ever need help or advice, I’ll help.. or if you think you’ll benefit from a professional sprayer, I’m more than happy to help guide you.. take care.. Pete 🎨💯
Ah thank you Steve 💯 ..Haha 😂 yeah, fair play.. just wanted to show a DIY budget sprayer can give a professional finish as long as the paint atomises.. but maybe you won’t get the full airless spraying experience like you will with a professional unit 😆 glad you like the video, hope you’re keeping well my friend.. Pete 🎨💯
@@PaintHQ cheers Pete, yep all good, 3 rooms completed upstairs with the GX21 in next to no time (although masking takes a while). Doors too with the Ultra. I’m only a diy’er but sometimes you do get what you pay for. I really appreciate the great videos, using them as my “go to” every time I do a project for tip sizes and pressure. Take it easy.
Hey Mick, thanks my friend.. at the moment I’m just using a standard (cheap 😊) fan heater.. the small type of fan heater that you can vary the speed of hot air, or turn down to just blow cold air... here’s what I’ve always had my eye on and keep meaning to buy when we run up to colder months, and paint drying tines slow down www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B082YVRGH5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_NMM2HNQZJ99AZ83CNJDR There are others you could check out, in this angled style design, that allows the ability to adjust where air blows.. I don’t think heat (hot air) is critical, I think the circulation of cool air is what helps dry a room.. Hope this helps my friend.. let me know how you get on, I’m very interested myself.. great question 👍👏👌😆 ..Take care.. Regards Pete
Hey Simon.. thank you buddy.. yeah I was pleasantly surprised 😊 Just wanted to demo that these machines do produce a good result, but wouldn’t be up to the day in day out volume / power requirements of a pro.. even a DIYer perhaps wouldn’t get the true airless spraying experience (and would maybe give up), with the lack of ability to dial in the pressure etc.. the cleanup was surprisingly quick, I though I’d find it slow with me being used to a hopper.. but the water runs fast out the prime tube 😆 ..All the best my friend, hope you’re all good 💯 Pete
Hello my friend.. good question.. I don’t think the fitting would fit the propriety fittings of the 250 / 350 machine.. in the video you see me trying to attach a Graco Bluemax hose, but was unable to.. the gauge would need to sit between the pump and line.. knowing the pressure is certainly beneficial, the 250M dial just turns and defaults to each number (1 - 5).. is the 350M the same?.. it’s not critical though, like in the video I just turned up a number until the tails disappeared.. sometimes these limitations can effect the true airless spraying experience.. if you find you like spraying and want the full experience, I highly recommend the Graco GX21, it’s worth it for a little more outlay.. really good to have you contributing to the channel, please keep in touch and let me know if there’s anything I can try to help you with.. I’ll always reply 👍 ..Regards Pete 🎨💯
@@PaintHQ Hi, yes the pressure gauge would fit exactly where you said. I have seen videos with the pressure gauge on 150/250/350. I wish I could afford GX21 (£700) but settled with the Wagner 350 (£475). I might have considered if I didn't have the Wagner 350
Ah I see, that’s great.. thanks for the feedback.. totally understand regarding sprayer choice.. keep in touch, it’s great to have you contributing and hear how you get on.. regards Pete
Hi Pete, Great Vid. I do have a question please. My second hand 250M keeps splattering out the odd larger droplet at the edge of the spray, which then runs and ruins the rest of the spray. Any tips? Could a new filter or new spray tip fix this? I’ve tried a few different pressures but unfortunately it didn’t seem to resolve the issue. I also tried diluting the paint by 10% but that also did very little. I'm using emulsion with a 517 tip. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks
Hey Justin, thank you 🙏 ..I’m happy to help if I can my friend 👍 ..with gun spits / splatters, you can pretty much rule out filter selection, dilution and pretty much pressure.. I’m thinking it’s the tip guard seat / seal ..same principle as the opening to this 2 minute video.. (although a Graco tip guard) Graco Airless Spray Gun Spitting? You Could Have The Wrong RAC X Seal th-cam.com/video/7jCl91jFpBw/w-d-xo.html ..is it a ControlPro tip / tip guard you’re using?.. the ControlPro tips are ‘hexagon’ in shape.. I know with the TradeTip (professional tips) you get a new seat / seal with the tip, not sure if this is the case with the ‘DIY’ ControlPro tips.. if you check the video description to this video, I think I included some info about the different Wagner tips and which fit which tip guard 👍 Also does the splatter occur during triggering off, or is it randomly in the middle of a spray pass ?.. if it’s when triggering off, it could be the gun packings, so the needle in the gun is no longer shutting off when the trigger is released.. Hope this helps in some way buddy.. keep in touch, I’ll help some more if I can.. regards Pete
Hi Pete, thanks for the great videos and as I’ve just purchased this it’s even better. I’m being lazy but are you setting the machine up differently for emulsion and water based gloss? Cheers
Hi Shane. Thanks for watching and your kind feedback.. the principal of setting up the machine (or any airless sprayer) is the same for emulsions Vs trim paints.. you’re looking to use the lowest possible pressure to atomise the material to produce a nice even fan pattern with soft edges 👍 ..Alongside that is choosing the right tip.. for thicker emulsions, it would be a 515 or 517.. I recall the machine cones with a 517, it will work but I prefer a 515.. the material will flow a little faster with a 517 (.017) tip, so potentially need to move quicker.. then for WB trim paints, I prefer a 310 for typical ‘decorative’ paints or a 208 or 308.. if the material is ‘thin’ enough.. (if I recall your machine comes with a 311).. again it will work, but may flow a bit faster.. just like the video, when I’m setting up for emulsion, start on speed 2 or 3, then test by spraying on brown paper or a test piece.. then up by 1 setting until ‘tails’ are gone.. hope this helps, feel free to get back to me if you have any questions.. great to have you onboard with the channel.. regards Pete 🎨💯
Hi Pete !! Thx for taking the time to make the video. I've purchased the Wagner 250m and plan to paint my bungalow with Sandtex ultra smooth which i believe needs to have 10% water added. Any advice as to the tip, pressure, correct dilution etc would be very much appreciated. I'm new to spraying so a little apprehensive. Thx again cheers Grant
Hi Grant, thank you for watching, hopefully I’ll get chance to put some more videos together on this popular sprayer 👍 ..If I recall the unit comes with a 517 tip, which should be sufficient to spray your product.. normally these units are not recommended for thicker exterior products, so a 10% dilution should certainly help ease the flow.. one tip is move the gun relatively quick, beginners cannot comprehend how quick the material is sprayed 👍 ..like in the video, I recommend test spraying on brown paper or scrap material.. start at setting 3 and your looking for an even 10% fan pattern, with no heavy lines (tails) either side.. then if needed up to setting 4.. then 5.. For exterior work, it’s not actually critical to have the perfect pattern, depending on the surface, you may actually need to back brush to get the product worked into the surface.. in this case you could spray with tails, at speed 3 or 4, working in sections and brushing over the finish.. at speed 5 you’ll be at the highest pressure and the pump will work harder to deliver material.. with these sprayers it’s worth taking breaks, it’s when they’re flat out continuously that the packings can get warm and malfunction.. I know it’s daunting my friend but you’ll be fine.. keep in touch, I’m happy to help and advise if I’m able to 👍 ..regards Pete
Thank you very much my friend.. great question.. it’s just a case of using a cleaning solution that’s recommended on the product data sheet for cleaning brushes / equipment.. typically a mineral spirit or ‘gun wash’ will work, unless it’s a shellac based primer, in which case a denatured alcohol will work.. only takes small amounts at a time to circulate and flush the pump and the line 👍 ..Hope this helps, regards Pete
May i ask another question please, im not able to understand when we should use lower prassure (2-3) or higher pressure (level 4-5), on which matirials and why? Would really like your opinion here.. Thanks a lot again bro
No problem at all buddy.. best place to start is assessing the paint viscosity (one indicator is the thickness as you stir the paint).. so a thicker emulsion will typically use a 515 tip, and a thinner trim / woodwork paint will use a 308 / 310 tip.. then as for the pressure, which translates to numbers on the ControlPro range of sprayers.. it’s just a case of starting at 2 or 3 and spraying a test piece (I use a length of brown masking paper), and increment / up the pressure until you get a solid / even spread of material across the middle of the fan, with soft edges (no lines / tails at the edges).. as a general rule, thinner trim / woodwork paints will use a 310 (if I recall the ControlPro comes with a 311) and will spray at the lower pressure settings ..and thicker emulsions will use a 515 (perhaps the ControlPro comes with a 517). and will spray at the higher pressure settings.. hope this helps my friend.. I will look to make more videos using the ControlPro sprayer and see if I can cover the sprayer setup and pressure settings in more detail.. it’s a good topic.. keep in touch, happy to help if I can 👍 ..regards Pete
@@PaintHQ Hi Bro, your kind replay is really appreciated... Many thanks for the detailed explanation... Got it.. Will do... Keep up with your great videos and help!!
hi great vid....ive just bought a 250 m with a 311 and a 517 tip and extension wand to use on a large house mostly new plaster everywhere ...my question is as the customer just wants white emulsion everywhere what is the best 'out of the bucket' emulsion best suited for the Wagner and will I have to still thin the paint for the top coats or will the Wagner cope with it un thinned....and should I strain/filter the paint first or is there a brand that I can use again 'straight out of the bucket'....many thanks in advance (Adam)
Hi Adam, apologies for the delay.. happy to help if I can. In my experience, one of the nicest emulsions I’ve sprayed is Albany Durable Matt from Brewers.. Whilst airless spraying you don’t typically need to thin, a drop of water always helps flow and reduces the pressure. Then some materials are generally problematic to spray.. now the Wagner 250M being a small diy unit, using Albany add water up to a max 10% will help.. always test your spray pattern first on some brown paper and as you add water, prime again and get the material flowing through the line to the gun each time.. one more tip, move relatively quickly with a 517, you can’t comprehend how quick the paint will flow 👍 ..hope this helps my friend, keep in touch.. regards Pete
... my first sprayer-350M, and had a drama (... suction tube in unthinned interior Dulux product!) using it. However, I preserved and the finish was 👍👍 Better still, another insightful 👋👋video production using the Wagner 250m Thanks
Hey Beija, thanks for sharing my friend.. yeah when you hit a problem, it always finishes up good in the end 😆 ..Hope you’re keeping well, regards Pete
HI PETE THANKS FOR ALL YOUR EXCELLENT UPLOADS IM LEARNING SO MUCH FROM YOUR CHANNEL, IVE BEEN PAINTING FOR SOME YEARS NOW, BUT HAVE BAD BACK AND ROLLING BIG CEILINGS IS KILLING ME, SO I WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING THE WAGNER Airless Sprayer Control Pro 250 M , NO PEP WORK NO RUBBING DOWN JUST HOPE CUSTOMER IS NOT LOOKING , JUST SMASHING OUT SOME EMULSION, DO YOU THINK THAT THAT SPRAYER WOULD BE ANY GOOD, ?????? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. ALL THE BEST FROM ROBERT LONDON UK.
Hi Robert, apologies for not responding sooner.. I’m always happy to help and advise if I can my friend.. airless spraying ceilings is something I advocate, especially when new to spraying.. far less labour intensive on the body Vs a roller and potentially less mess (but you still need to sheet up / protect any ‘hazards’).. less mess, especially if you choose the right tip and pressure.. such as in this video, I’ve swapped out the ‘DIY’ ControlPro Tip Guard and tip, for a Wagner professional TradeTip 3 7/8” tip guard and HEA 515 (again, professional tip).. you can spray at low pressure for less overspray and bounce back.. so yeah, the 250M is a great machine aimed at the ‘DIY’ market, still they are often chosen by those starting out, and perhaps not wanting to spend too much money.. But if you can afford to spend a bit more, for a professional machine (a PP90 for example is in the Wagner Professional range).. you get the ‘true’ airless experience.. pressure gauge, professional / standard airless hose fittings and gun, plus the pro tip guard would come as standard 👍 ..whatever you choose, go for it my friend, you won’t look back ..and I’ll help you on your spraying journey as much as I can 🙏 regards Pete
Hi, just bought the Wagner 350m, I’m a Decorator and just getting into spraying. Used it for the first time this week. I seem to be using much more paint than I would usually, I’m getting a good finish with no runs, is it normal to use more paint than roller?
Hi Matthew, great to hear from a fellow decorator and great to hear your venture into spraying.. it’s a learning journey, but worth it You’re right, you will use more paint.. basically the transfer efficiency of Airless is poor. So you need to allow for the ‘waste’, roughly you’ll use 30-40% more material.. The trick is choosing the right tip to atomise the material at the lowest feasible pressure.. too much pressure and the material bounces off the wall/ceiling.. adding to waste ..then by the right tip, you’re looking for the smallest tip size (orifice) otherwise you’re letting too much paint through.. or you’ll have to move faster.. often new machine come with a 517.. I prefer to use a 515 for spraying emulsion / walls / ceilings 👍 ..keep in touch, happy to help and advise on your journey if I can.. take care my friend.. regards Pete
Honestly I wanted to love this machine. The overspray is crazy and the whole room gets full of paint in the air you can’t see anything. The floor gets covered in overspray and uses so much paint. Followed instructions and watches loads of videos. Just don’t understand it, going back to roller and brush for top coat
Sorry to hear you’re not having an enjoyable spraying experience my friend.. what you’re referring to in terms of overspray is the result of overly pressurising and possibly wrong tip selection - you want to atomise the paint at the lowest possible pressure, resulting in a nice even fan pattern.. too much pressure and paint bounces back off ceiling and walls - resulting in what you describe.. get it all right and you can pretty much spray a ceiling making less mess than a roller (and not waste as much paint).. you will use a little more Vs roller, by design most forms of spraying results in waste / inefficiency.. all the best my friend, regards Pete
@ thanks for the reply Pete, I appreciate it. I had the pressure on just over 4 dial. Two tips came with the machine the first one didn’t do much so used the second one that gave good coverage and did the undercoat in 15 mins. Maybe I should use the other tip. What number tip should be used? I have got the roller ready to do the top coat after all this lol
@Milkybar882 Just to double check it’s emulsion / latex paint you’re spraying - if so use the 517 tip 👍 You may benefit thinning 5-10% to help ease the flow - also some paints don’t spray well, cheaper contract paints for example.. regards Pete
@ yes it was farrow and ball and I thinned it to 15%. The cost was crazy 6 tins for undercoat. So have gone to Dulux on the top coat now due to cost. I want to do a navy feature wall but would be too scared that the overspray would go on the freshly painted other walls without covering the whole room . Hence why I want to use the roller now
Hi Pete, another great informative video! I also own the 250, what I’m finding is there excessive paint coming through, , I changed the filter and tip and still the same so I’m thinking it could be the seal in the guard? I’m going to get a replacement but no idea how to remove the existing one? Any idea? Thanks
Hello my friend, sorry for not getting back to you sooner.. do you mean too much material is being sprayed?.. thinking you could need a smaller tip, ie if a 517, then down size to a 515.. or a 311, go down to a 310 or even 308.. this video explains.. th-cam.com/video/0Q7LrmeMs3w/w-d-xo.html Regarding removing a tip seat / gasket.. it has to be pushed out from the guard end through where the thread is.. you can use the plastic pointed end of the spray tip (where the spray tip number is written).. hope this help, let me know how you get on.. regards Pete
@@PaintHQ Hey bro, no worries I know you’re a busy man!! Basically there was excess paint coming from the nozzle which resulted in paint dripping from the nozzle and spitting. I figured out to remove the seal in the guard realised there was dried paint and grit stuck to it. I have since replaced the seal so hopefully that will sort it?! Saw a picture on your Instagram of you using evolution drywall sander, good bit of kit. I just finished 4wk job that looked very similar .. must of done 20kg of easi fill 😫
Hi just brought one of these what do the different numbers on nozzle Your using a 515 I only have a 311 green? I’ve seen you can get several different sizes for them
Hey Eugene, the 7/8” gun fitting would mean you could attach a Graco Pressure Roller or a JetRoller.. but unfortunately because of the ControlPro proprietary hose fittings, you couldn’t use an inline gun.. you would have to use the ControlPro HEA Gun, which does make it awkward.. I believe there is a Wagner version, the Inner Feed roller but I’m sure you would face the same issue and would need to use the ControlPro gun.. I believe it’s a comparable price to the Graco solutions too This later video, explains about the ControlPro fittings and what professional tip guards and attachments you could use.. it should be a useful video as a ControlPro owner 👍 Wagner 250M Setup. Airless Spray Tips Explained. Wagner 250M Cleaning th-cam.com/video/8APgip0-5J8/w-d-xo.html Regards Pete
So I'm looking to buy one of these spray kits but I'm looking for something that the parts are easy to replace and not going to break down on me after the first 6 months. Can you advise me further for an airless sprayer?
What sprayer do you recommend for spraying an entire house that’s just been plastered and may also be used occasionally for smaller projects? Do t want to spend more than needed, ideally under 300
Hi Marc, apologies for the delay in my reply, I didn’t see this comment / question come in.. purely for DIY (not professional use) and with your budget in mind, perhaps the ControlPro 150, it’s the model down from the one featured in this video.. if I’m right though, there’s no variable pressure control.. in these situations (also no pressure gauge), I always say, “you don’t get the true airless spraying experience”.. which can be problematic for someone new / starting out.. I’d also advocate swapping out the tip guard / tips for professional tips, especially for fine finishes.. like in this video.. Wagner 250M Setup. Airless Spray Tips Explained. Wagner 250M Cleaning th-cam.com/video/8APgip0-5J8/w-d-xo.html ..For what you describe and on a budget, it is possible to DIY spray a house.. they wouldn’t stand up to being worked harder though.. anything I can do to help and advise you further, I’m more than happy.. I’ll always get back to you.. keep in touch my friend, it’ll be great to hear how it goes.. best of luck.. regards Pete 🎨💯
Which sprayer would you recommend for mist coating new builds? I’m a professional decorator but sick of putting in the hard graft rolling them out. I’m looking at purchasing this model or the upright one on wheels but unsure on which tips to use or even if the tips that come with it is any good. Thanks in advance.
Greeting! I own a wagner 350M and a spray gun 517. I'm wondering how much I have to dilute the paint with water. example on 10kg of paint how much water I have to pour. Every time I apply paint, lines remain on the wall. There is no way I can match it to stay perfect
Hello my friend, I’m happy to help you any way I can.. Sounds like a relatively thick material that you’re trying to spray.. I personally would dilute any more than 10%, and I actually don’t like to thin at all when airless spraying.. although some materials benefit from a ‘splash’ of water to ease flow.. With that I’d look to up the tip size if still getting tails as you up the pressure.. I recall the 350m having a max tip size of .019 and you’re using a 517, which is about right for an emulsion.. just like in the video, start with a splash of water and mix well, start at speed 3 and spray a test.. then speed 4.. 5.. just spray on test paper first, then if you’re still getting tails (lines as you say), you’ll need to add more water.. hopefully up to 10% dilution should sort it 👍 ..Hope this helps, keep in touch.. regards Pete 🎨💯
Apologies my friend, I didn’t see that this question went unanswered.. I’ll be putting a video out soon showcasing the GX21, night be useful.. have you decided on a sprayer yet?.. regards Pete
Ok, so do I get this right? You can sort of "cheat the system" and use a wagner tradetip 3 holder (7/8) with the wagner pro tips on the wagner control pro machines? Like maybe the purple fine finish tradetip 210 as an example? Instead of the green control pro tips that comes with the gun? Does that tip guard/holder also fit on the extentions, like the 30cm or 60 cm extention? I really appreciate the info because I've emailed several sellers of the fine finish tradetips and they all tell me it isn't possible to use with wagner control pro 250 m (which I want to use it with). Thanks again! /Hanna
Yeah so this is the Wagner TradeTip 3 Tip Holder 7/8” www.sprayman.co.uk/product/289390 To take the Wagner HEA ProTip / Titan TR1 HEA airless spray tips.. (professional spray tips) www.sprayman.co.uk/product/wagnerheatip Then this is the purple fine finish tips 😆 www.sprayman.co.uk/product/554XXX This is purely to stop the ControlPro tips (and ControlPro guard) being used on a more powerful (professional) sprayer.. it could pose a danger.. whereas what you’re looking to do, the professional setup is being used on a smaller (diy) pump.. still a danger in terms of high pressure that could cause an injury but I guess the build quality is stronger with the professional tip guard and tips.. they’re built for day in day out use.. hope this helps, keep in touch.. it’s interesting to hear how you progress 👌👍 regards Pete
Legendry work as always mate! How do you go about estimating how much paint you'll need? I've just realised my q190 eats the paint like there's no tomorrow!
You’re so kind my friend.. Yeah the transfer efficiency of Airless is poor. Roughly you’ll use 30-40% more material.. The trick is choosing the right tip to atomise the material at the lowest feasible pressure.. too much pressure and the material bounces off the wall/ceiling.. Too big a tip and more material is ‘fired out’ (litres per minute).. like I say, you’ll definitely use more.. but if your thinking it’s ‘too much’.. maybe the walls are looking soaking wet.. I’m wondering if you could use a smaller tip.. eg a 515 rather than a 517.. it’s the 17 part that lets out the material.. or if gun need a 517 (because it’s a thick paint).. you could use a 617.. a 517 and 617 will use the same volume of material but a 617 over a wider pattern... hope all this makes sense 😆 greet to hear you’re spraying with a Q190, nice machine buddy 💯
@@PaintHQ Thanks so much mate, always great in detail answers, so helpful. I used my Tritech 515, the contractor one, not ultra finish. I was spraying at 2200psi. Bit of a rubbish first job as I was painting over white, with white! I'm going to grab some Graco fflp tips I think. Hope you're well Pete.
Ah that sounds about the right psi for a TriTech 515.. A low pressure tip like a Graco LP or Wagner HEA will bring the psi down a bit.. especially the HEA (I’m a fan of the 515), depending on the material I’m guessing you’ll be around 1400-1700.. the Wagner HEA will fit a TriTech guard (just note seals are different but it will fit).. if you wanted to try Graco LP you’d need a Graco RAC X guard 👍 ..Let me know how you get on 😆
Hello mate just subscribed and new to spraying, just bought a Wagner 250m and a second hand cordless graco ultra for the skirting etc, just wondering on any recommendations on satin paint for the wood work (mostly mdf ) and tips I should be using? Thanks 👍💪🏼
Hey, really appreciate and value you subscribing to the channel.. feel free to ask questions anytime and I’ll always do my best to help.. regarding woodwork / trim paints through the handheld.. check out Tikkurila Otex Akva for adhesion priming and use Helmi 30 or Everal Aqua 40 for a beautiful satin topcoat.. I recommend a Graco FFLP 210 tip for skirting / door frames / architrave and a 310 tip for wider passes on doors.. I feature Otex Akva / Helmi 30 in the “amazing result..” video.. check out this playlist.. Nice video. After some advice. Painting skirting and arc, I have used my handheld Wagner 590 but not happy with the finish so I’m going to try my 250m. The paint is only a 3L tin, I have been told that this will be ok ? Also what settings do you use for water based gloss finishes? Would it be a lower pressure setting etc? Hopefully you can help.
Hey Rob, thank you for watching my friend.. it’s my pleasure to try and help you.. which tip are you thinking of using? I believe the unit comes with a 311 (ControlPro) tip.. by all means try it, I’m not sure how fine a finish you would get Vs a Graco FFLP tip.. like I say try what you have and feel free to get back to me.. just like the video when I’m easing up the pressure to demonstrate the elimination of tails.. lay down sone brown paper, start on 3 and spray a strip (gun square to the paper / 30 cm approx away).. you’re looking for a solid even mid section with soft feathered edges.. if not, up by 1 to number 4 and try again.. you may need to go to 5.. what waterborne material are you wanting to spray?.. keep in touch, more than happy to help any way I can.. regards Pete 🎨💯
Thanks for the reply Pete. Yes I think it has the 311 tip and a red filter I believe. I sprayed bedec aqua advanced. The final cost is a tikkurila paint.
Ok great, like I say give it a go working up the pressures and see how it goes.. I’m thinking the Wagner Trade Tip 3 (fine finish - purple) or a Graco FFLP.. would produce a finer finish.. but unfortunately you’d need to invest in a 7/8” guard.. Wagner ProTip guard (like I demo in the video or a Graco RAC X guard 👍 let me know how you get on 😆
Hi Pete, hope all's well mate. Just been having a little binge on your video's as I'm just about to buy a 390....top work mate. I've found a good deal on a 390 bundle and I'm literally ready to buy tomorrow as I start a big job with a long run in a week's time. The only problem is, if I buy this week, which I really need to, am I gonna be heart broken in a couple of weeks time when black Friday comes around and see the same machine way less than I've paid? So that's basically my question (questions) to you. Is it worth holding on for black Friday in your experience? Do spray suppliers do decent discounts worth holding on for? There's not much info on previous deals and £100 - £200 wouldn't bother me too much, but I don't wanna see £300 -£400 that I could have saved.... especially with all the other bits and bobs needed. Any advice or suppliers you could recommend if it's worth holding out? Cheers mate 👍
Ah exciting times my friend, the Graco 390 will serve your needs and more 👍 ..If I could try to persuade you to purchase from SpraymanUK, I’d appreciate it.. I’m with them on their stand at the P&D Show this month 22 / 23 November, so it’s a couple of weeks away.. I know last year they had a 10% show promo code, that could also be used on their website.. they also did a Black Friday discount, again 10%.. I could speak to them tomorrow to confirm any promo discounts if that helps.. or if you also wanted to speak to them, ask to speak to Mike, he’s super friendly and his product knowledge in the industry is the best I know 💯 Keep in touch with me with what you choose, I’m happy to help and assist you in any way I can.. I appreciate you supporting the PaintHQ channel 🙏 ..good luck on your spraying journey 🎨 💨 regards Pete
@@PaintHQ hi mate. Just a quick update. Spoke to Mike and ordered the 390 and some tips and bits and bobs. Glad I spoke to you as the supplier I was originally going with have put their machines up by nearly £300 this morning due to Graco price hikes. Luckily for me, Mike had until 12 o'clock so I just got in there and saved £300 with half an hour to spare....that's better than any black Friday deal in my eyes. Got the machine, a clean shot, 3 tips, whip hose, 25cm extension and pump armour for the same price as what the 390 now is. Happy days. Cheers for the help mate, keep up the good work 👍
Ah that is wonderful news, so pleased it worked in your favour.. I don’t confess to fully understand the pricing, but I do know there would be natural price increases by Graco (supply chain, coupled with global financial challenges), then the distributor (SpraymanUK) can only ‘swallow’ a price increase for a limited time.. really pleased the timing suited you.. I’d spoke to Mike too and he confirmed the same 😆 ..exciting times ahead for you my friend, you’ve invested in some great kit 💙🙏 .keep in touch.. regards Pete
Hi and thanks for posting this informative video. Just bought a 250 and tried it today on a small project, bit of a disaster realy as l think the paint was to thick. Had solid bars of paint each side of spray pattern unlike your tails. Hey ho, l will persevere and see what happens when l spray a room.
Hi Peter.. thanks for the kind feedback, glad you’ve found it informative.. just check the tip hadn’t clogged, could be that if the streaks are thick lines.. twist the tip, so it’s in reverse, point it into a waste bucket and trigger the paint through.. twist back and try again.. if symptoms still occur and you’re at speed 5, maybe try an unclog once more to be sure.. otherwise, the paint unfortunately might be too thick.. check you’re using the 517 (if I recall that’s what it comes with for emulsions), or 311 (trim paints).. you could try a splash of water (like I did in the video).. what you should find is the pattern improves as you work up the number settings 3..4..5.. that’s why I was thinking it could be as simple as a blocked tip.. I’m happy to help all I can.. keep in touch my friend.. regards Pete
Hi, Did you ever have a problem with pressure on the gun ? I already added 20% water to paint and when painting it's fine for the first 1m or 1.5 and than machine start loosing pressure and pattern is getting narrow and on the pattern sides appears thick lines of paint. Thanks for any advice.
Hi Bartek, I’m more than happy to help and advise you any way I can.. the problem lies with pump size on these ‘DIY’ pumps, so the 250M has a maximum fluid rate 1.25 l/min ..Vs a GX21 (still an entry level by the way) 1.8 l/min ..then you have an ST Max 595, 2.6 l/min (there is still bigger pumps too 😊).. alongside that the smaller pumps will have recommended limits on tip size,, I believe the 250M is .017 is the maximum.. bigger tip equals more flow and the pump will not keep up.. so basically the smaller pump cannot maintain sufficient pressure to atomise / break up the material.. what paint and tip size was you using my friend?.. options are to thin more (I’d say you’re at the maximum dilution).. change to another thinner / lower viscosity material.. or I’m afraid you would have to stop at intervals to allow the pump pressure to catch up.. but what could then happen is the pump packings will fail due to strain ☹️ ..so sorry to not have a positive answer, hope I’ve not confused you with for technicalities.. keep in touch, happy to help in future.. regards Pete
@@PaintHQ thanks for a quick reply. Your suggestion with different tip is worth of checking :) I will definitely order a different tip. I was using ceiling paint from Tikkurila Anti Reflex White 2 mat. Tikkurila recommend max 5% water, I added almost 40% on last stage of trying. Today I give Wagner machine last chance on a different room with paint from Śnieżka eco plus (latex, brilliant white). That's a very budget paint £30/10l and...worked great on pressure set on 3. I'm speechless...whole room (ceiling+walls) painted in about 20min... awesome! Maybe you could suggest what to do in the situation when I would like to keep a spray gun texture on plaster but...i sprayed to much and paint start "dripping down"(it's just to much in one place). I've got 2 spots like that, I missed the line and when I come back this happen. I used roller but this change the texture, so I over painted again ..so now looks even worse... On the second spot I decided to leave like it is and send it over when will dry out, and than maybe just do mist paint from the hand paint sprayer? Thanks, have a good weekend!
Ah ok, AR2 is an excellent product.. in this video I sprayed a small en-suite ceiling, if I recall I showed just adding a small amount of water just to ease the flow.. although it would have been just short passes, it was only a small ceiling.. the only difference, I used a TradeTip 3 tip guard and a HEA 515 ProTip (a professional spray tip that only fits the ‘pro’ 7/8” guard).. these pro tips have a round appearance, Vs the hexagonal look of the ControlPro tips.. keep going, you’re doing great and learning all the time.. keep in touch.. regards Pete
..apologies I missed your question.. best approach to maintain a sprayed finish, is to sand off the ‘mistake’ and spray over the area, it should dry down ok and blend with the rest of the sprayed project.. as you’ve found, to ‘back roll’ the area will give a roller finish, which is legitimate if that’s the finish you’re looking to achieve 👍
You provide great content, keep up the good work!. For this specific video though, I came here to see if the 250m is any good, should I buy one? and maybe answer the question from the thumbnail - "DIY Sprayer, pro finish?" What I learned: it is not compatible with pro attachments, but you can adapt it to work with pro tips....do I need to do this to get a good finish or do the standard/supplied ones (or other sizes with the supplied protector) work ok out of the box? In short, as a £400 product for a keen DIY'er decorating a (large) house, is it worth it? Is it better than say a £200 HVLP sprayer? or should I either give up on the idea of DIY airless spraying or try to justify paying £700+ for a 'proper' airless? Or are there better £400 airless options? Any advice greatly received!
I’m more than happy to help answer any questions and advise if I can.. your analysis is spot on.. in theory any airless sprayer, as long it has the pressure available to force the paint through an airless tip.. ‘should’ be able to produce a finish equal to that of a professional, more expensive sprayer.. I say ‘should’ because a lot comes down to the product being sprayed.. along with the airless spray tip.. I chose to swap the guard and use a Pro tip, to demonstrate that whilst the hose fittings / gun fitting are not compatible.. the 7/8” tip guard is 👍 ..I don’t have much experience with the Wagner ControlPro tips that come supplied (out the box).. they will spray and with emulsions, you shouldn’t detect a problem.. all that could happen is they would wear quicker.. The main problem would be the spray unit itself, it doesn’t have the ‘guts’ to spray thicker materials and it will work harder to maintain pressure with any paint.. bit like a car, a small engine will work harder than a bigger engine.. both would reach 60mph but the smaller engine will be flat out.. and couldn’t go much quicker ..with an airless pump, this will put more strain on the piston and packings and they will fail in time.. I do get your dilemma, it is a bit of a jump to say a Graco GX21 / or even a GXFF.. I’d like to say it’s worth it to get the true airless experience, pressure gauge being one and piece of mind you could spray pretty much whatever interior paint you throw at it.. another advantage is the ability to spray less material.. the 250M you’re having to fill a 15m hose.. on that note, maybe the GXFF from SpraymanUK could be a good fit.. it comes as standard with a 7.5m hose and built in hopper, designed for fine finish spraying, you could spray all your woodwork with much less material and it would handle the amount of walls / ceilings you could be looking to spray.. bonus is the GXFF is the more cost effective solution out of the GX range.. www.sprayman.co.uk/product/graco-gxff If you do reach out to SpraymanUK, ask to speak to Mike.. he’s super knowledgeable, friendly and won’t try and sell you something for the sake of a sale.. I’m also going to try and add Rob to this chat, he’s been an awesome contributor to this channel and has gave great experience of using a Wagner ControlPro 350M Keep in touch, happy to help all I can, I very much want DIYers to get something out of the PaintHQ channel.. I will in future feature some more with the ControlPro range.. Also happy to help you with airless spraying in future ..just don’t want you to be disappointed 👍👌😆 Regards Pete @a Man Friday Hey Rob, are you able to offer your experience ..perhaps using the ControlPro tips?.. thank you my friend, hope you’re well 🙏
@@PaintHQ Hi Alpha Dog - Pete is spot on with his comments. I first bought a Graco Ultra Max intended for trim/doors etc. and was very pleased with that and still use it. I have no experience with HVLP. I couldn’t justify the expense of a Sprayman GX21FF (combination of the two which only they offer) and thought all airless sprayers were inter-compatible so bought the Wagner 350M. I quickly discovered that although you can use other tips and guards (e.g. Graco) on the Wagner gun, the hose threads are unique to Wagner, so you’re stuck with the 15m larger bore hose which I find awkward. I only use the Wagner for walls/ceilings and, although it works well, I find I’m always using it pretty much using it flat out. I was a complete newbie to spraying when I bought these and, having later discovered this channel, I will, at some point, swap the Wagner for a GX21FF (which has a hopper which would have saved me on one job as you need paint still in the bucket to be drawn up the hose). The flexibility afforded will probably mean that I can use it for both trim and walls/ceilings. As I've learned from Pete, to get a really good finish you need to be able to balance viscosity and pressure - having a more powerful machine gives you more flexibility. I hope this helps. Best wishes, Rob
@PaintHQ and Rob/Man Friday, many thanks for your responses. I guess you've put me off the Wagner ControlPro HEA system! So I'm now looking at cheaper 'full pressure' airless systems - as I really can't justify spending £800+ at least not to start with. So I'm now looking at the Dino-Power/SES DP-X6V (the hopper version of the DP-X6) - which I'm sure is cheaply made compared to the Graco, but hopefully reliable enough to at least do this one project! Do you have any knowledge of them (or any better sub-£400 alternatives?). Based on what you guys have said, I believe I should be able to upgrade either just the guard/tip or maybe the gun/guard/tip later, maybe to the Wagner protip/HEA or Graco RacX/LP tips for indoor projects. Again many thanks for your help.
Hi, I do understand your dilemma, justifying a budget.. I’ve looked it the sprayer you mention, it’s a Chinese import / copying the GXFF concept ..I don’t have any experience of these sprayers, I fear the reliability.. plus on a serious note, airless paint sprayers by design operate at high pressures (psi), when not certified by a European ‘seal of approval’ there’s a real risk of injury.. injection injury is very serious.. sorry, I’m not wanting to sound dramatic or put you off, it’s your choice ..if choice cones down to a Chinese ‘copy’ and a sprayer out of the Wagner ControlPro range.. I’d go for the 250M or even the 150M for that matter (it has a built in hopper and 7.5m hose.. it’ll take less paint to get spraying 😆).. really do hope this helps.. keep in touch my friend.. regards Pete
Hi Pete, have a chance to buy the 350 Pro for £300,is it worth buying for just getting into spraying houses,.or buy a graco gx 21 or ff. I've been a sprayer in furniture for over 10 years and have compressor and spray guns, but the airless system are new to me. Cheers Jason
Hi Jason.. first off, hats off to you for mastering the awesome world of refinishing 👏👌👍 ..You’ll soon transfer skills to decorative / airless spraying 😆 ..Without question, for your needs I’d go for a GX21FF (It’s a GX21 with a hopper finishing kit).. I’m not sponsored at all to make a recommendation for Graco.. Wagner do some really excellent machines, that cater for a very broad market.. DIYer to Pro Contractor.. just my opinion, I feel you won’t get the true experience with a ControlPro sprayer.. with the GX21 you get a pump that takes up to a .021 tip, has the power to spray all day if you wanted, with the occasional exterior thrown in.. The GX21FF you can quickly switch between siphon and hopper mode.. with a hopper it’s great for spraying smaller amounts of woodwork / trim paints.. the GX21FF Vs ControlPro, you have complete control over the pressure and can read the psi off a gauge.. when starting out, it’s easier to learn having that ability.. the GX21FF is perfect for the P&D market. I talk to the Graco reps, they have stories of the GX21 working hard every day and lasting.. then IF you really needed to replace the pump in future, it’s a relatively inexpensive swap out that you can do yourself.. I know I sound like an advert, sorry just trying to give you info to justify the extra cost of a GX machine 😆 ..Again this is no slur whatsoever on Wagner or the ControlPro range.. equally I have ControlPro owners on here and I love to hear their success stories 👍 if you’re able to, speak to SpraymanUK.. Mike there is hugely knowledgeable and wouldn’t sell a machine for the sake of a sale 👍 Hope this helps somewhat, keep in touch my friend, it’s great to have your contribution to the channel.. I’m happy to help all I can.. regards Pete
Hey PaintHQ I'm after some advice. Spraying 2 coats of haftprimer in a day. 1 in thr morning and 1 in the afternoon. Is it possible for me to leave the machine set up etc while the first coat drys? Or am I best washing out the machine and resetting it up between coats etc?
Hey Rob, yeah it’ll be absolutely fine.. I hear of many leaving their pumps longer (I wouldn’t myself).. a couple of pointers for you.. always leave the sprayer in ‘prime’, dumping the pressure, and quarter turn the spray tip.. something else I do in addition, is wrap the tip guard in a wet rag and wrap in plastic.. some sprayers sit it in a bucket of water, I personally prefer not to do that.. so yeah you’ll be fine, and I’m very much in the camp of looking after your sprayer 😆 ..ps cover the can in some way and keep out of sunlight, stop it drying out 👍 ..regards Pete
@@PaintHQ sorry another question. I had two tails while spraying. Should I decrease or increase pressure? I tried increasing to max and they were still coming
Hey Rob, no problem.. if you’re getting tails it’s a case of increasing the pressure.. if you’re still getting tails, then it’s increase the tip size.. ie .015.. .017.. or thin the material.. I’d be looking to up the tip size though 👍 ..hope this helps, let me know if you need any further clarification.. regards Pete
i am very frustrated with my 350M. If i spray from 25cm away as per instructions and if i move as fast as you i would get massive paint runs, tried moving even quicker still toooo much paint and paint sags and runs. The gun just puts sooooo much paint on. I use Dulux water based paint and i don't thin it at all... I have to spray like a meter away and then it lays it nicely just massive overspray... Any advise?
@@PaintHQ Thanks Pete. I have tried using the 515 and 517 tip and same result. I am spraying over plaster board which already had previous paint on it. I sand it to roughen it up. Do you know where the worst runs are by any imperfection eg where a screw whole was fixed and it is not 100% flat. I wonder if it is the paint? Maybe i should get paint that has primer in it as well???? Not sure what to do anymore other then clouding the whole room up spraying a meter away and even that i have to spray much faster then you did
You’re right to be thinking a 515 or 517 for typical ‘thicker’ emulsion.. I mainly use a 515.. the .015 part is what ‘controls’ material flow (how much paint comes through).. so the larger orifice size is for thicker / higher viscosity material.. some people are happy to let more paint flow, but then you have to move quick.. I prefer more control and move more steady.. so what I’m thinking is your emulsion is too thin for a 515 tip, like you say you’re right in technique and have been moving quick.. I believe the ControlPro series sprayers come with a 311 tip (typically for thin trim / woodwork paints.. as an experiment, try that.. I’m thinking you would need a 513.. don’t despair, keep going, at least from this experience you’ll be learnt something about viscosity / tips and material flow.. keep me posted how you get on 👍😆
@@PaintHQ that was the next plan to use the 311 tip even if the angle is smaller. I will also try reduce the pressure like set it to 2 instead of 5 on the 350m and see what happens. In a few days I will be spraying a room with oil base to hide previous color. Is the viscosity usually lower or higher for oil based. It is the zeiner 123 cover
Yeah with a 311, you’ll get a 6” fan, but at least you could try it without extra cost buying another tip.. an oil based product, typically would be lower viscosity (thinner).. if you’re thinking of using Zinnser Bulls Eye 123, it’s waterborne.. whereas Zinnser Cover Stain is solvent based, typically used for its hiding / stain block abilities.. both products are low viscosity (thin), would go through a 311.. again, be wary though, these products could be better suited to a .010 or even a .008.. plus a 311 being a narrow fan the concentration of product released is narrow.. you may find you’ll need to still move quick.. start at pressure setting 2 and spray on some brown paper (like you see me do in videos).. or a scrap piece.. you could find the pattern not even and has stripes left and right (tails).. then move up a setting to 3.. compare and you should see a slight improvement.. then up again to 4.. I’m guessing you’ll be around 3 or 4.. I do hope this helps, I want you to get the best experience.. and wanted to warm that a 311 could let too much material through for the Zinnser products you’re looking to spray.. I do hope it works out for you.. keep in touch my friend, I’m happy to help.. regards Pete
hi mate i need some advice i used wagner 350r few days ago but i cant get on with the gun my mate given me wagner vector pro gun what hose will i need to connect my machine to my gun?
Hey Gareth, I’m afraid there isn’t a hose that will enable the use of a ‘pro’ gun on the ControlPro range of sprayers.. it’s not to stop the use of ‘pro’ gun being used on a ControlPro sprayer.. but to stop using a ControlPro gun on a professional (higher pressure rated) sprayer.. it could pose a danger.. thing is, the ControlPro range of sprayers are designed to be used with HEA (low pressure) tips.. that all said, there could be an adapter from the PaintLife store.. I believe there’s a specially made whip hose available, I’m really not entirely sure if this means a ‘pro’ gun could be used.. hope this makes sense, I’m so sorry if this doesn’t help my friend.. please let me know if you find a solution, or what you find out 👍 regards Pete
@@PaintHQ aww bugger i was looking forward of useing this gun ... what sort of gaurds can i use on my standard wanger gun what thread does it have to be if i wanted to use say graco or wanger pro?
Yeah I feel your pain and you’re not alone.. if you scroll through the comments for this video, a great contributor to the channel - a Man Friday (Rob), has shared his experience (same as you) with gun thread compatibility.. regarding tip guards, any standard 7/8” thread will fit 👍
I have got a 250r and have used it for a couple of months every day and it hasn't let me down yet I find if you take off the intake tube and put a few drops of piston lube in it the little unit will run all day long I must have put at least 400 litres through mine and it is still going and that does surprise me considering the price I had the same issue with tips and guards a pain they don't tell you that when you get it mate
Ah good news my friend, anything I can do to to help, I’m happy to try and answer questions and advise.. there’s also some very knowledgeable people who comment on this channel, who are familiar with the popular 350 sprayer 😆 ..keep in touch, I’m interested to hear how you get on.. regards Pete
I don’t see the point of using this tool. Especially for a small room. If you use a brush or a roll you don’t need to do all the covering. This tool could be useful to paint the outside walls of a full house.
Hello my friend.. if I recall the small bathroom ceiling had fully tilled walls - masking a perfect line along the grout line saved time laboriously going round and round with a brush, and the finished result was perfection 👌 I get what you’re saying though about airless spraying large exterior jobs 👏👏👏 Regards Pete
I’ve hear someone saying,
; “ You don’t paint a car with a brush or a roller do you?
Pete
Hey do anyone know if these can use oil based paint that's thinned with turps or thinners like for etch metal primer or oil based primers etc? Thanks
Hello my friend, yes it can be used with oil based and latex, non-abrasive materials 👍 ..regards Pete
Hey Rob, hope you’re well my friend.. when you get chance could you look at the question on here from “alpha dog”.. I’ve gave my input but wondered if you have anything extra to offer with your experience of the 350M.. I appreciate your knowledge 🙏 regards Pete
Ps I tried to @ you in my reply, not sure if that reaches you 😆
Hi Pete. Another great video. Keep going. 👍
Thank you Yuriy, very much appreciated my friend 💯
1 like for the GSD and 1 for the spraying 🤜
🙏😄💙💯
The water shoots out of the waste pipe 😆 ..Thanks for your input my friend.. have a go spraying inside, perhaps a ceiling like this.. remember if you ever need help or advice, I’ll help.. or if you think you’ll benefit from a professional sprayer, I’m more than happy to help guide you.. take care.. Pete 🎨💯
Another great video Pete, I’ll think I’ll stick with the Graco!
Nicely put.. you’ve got awesome machines there with your GX21 and Ultra Handheld.. You’re doing great my friend 👌👍👏😆
Brilliant pete . Could you recommend a blow heater that will also blow cold air in summer like fan only. Do you own one ?
Thanks again
Hey Mick, thanks my friend.. at the moment I’m just using a standard (cheap 😊) fan heater.. the small type of fan heater that you can vary the speed of hot air, or turn down to just blow cold air... here’s what I’ve always had my eye on and keep meaning to buy when we run up to colder months, and paint drying tines slow down
www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B082YVRGH5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_NMM2HNQZJ99AZ83CNJDR
There are others you could check out, in this angled style design, that allows the ability to adjust where air blows.. I don’t think heat (hot air) is critical, I think the circulation of cool air is what helps dry a room..
Hope this helps my friend.. let me know how you get on, I’m very interested myself.. great question 👍👏👌😆 ..Take care.. Regards Pete
@@PaintHQ thanks pete i will check it out . Hope your keeping well.
No problem buddy, anytime.. Yeah all good thanks 😆
Nice one Pete I’ve always wondered how those units perform 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey Simon.. thank you buddy.. yeah I was pleasantly surprised 😊 Just wanted to demo that these machines do produce a good result, but wouldn’t be up to the day in day out volume / power requirements of a pro.. even a DIYer perhaps wouldn’t get the true airless spraying experience (and would maybe give up), with the lack of ability to dial in the pressure etc.. the cleanup was surprisingly quick, I though I’d find it slow with me being used to a hopper.. but the water runs fast out the prime tube 😆 ..All the best my friend, hope you’re all good 💯 Pete
@@PaintHQ Ive seen some people add pressure dials to the Wagner 250 and 350 - do you think it would be off any use?
(although a Graco tip guard)
Graco Airless Spray Gun Spitting? You Could Have The Wrong RAC X Seal
th-cam.com/video/7jCl91jFpBw/w-d-xo.html
..is it a ControlPro tip / tip guard you’re using?.. the ControlPro tips are ‘hexagon’ in shape.. I know with the TradeTip (professional tips) you get a new seat / seal with the tip, not sure if this is the case with the ‘DIY’ ControlPro tips.. if you check the video description to this video, I think I included some info about the different Wagner tips and which fit which tip guard 👍
Also does the splatter occur during triggering off, or is it randomly in the middle of a spray pass ?.. if it’s when triggering off, it could be the gun packings, so the needle in the gun is no longer shutting off when the trigger is released..
Hi, great video
One question please, when i use oil based colors, how should i clean the machine?
Thanks a lot mate
Thank you very much my friend.. great question.. it’s just a case of using a cleaning solution that’s recommended on the product data sheet for cleaning brushes / equipment.. typically a mineral spirit or ‘gun wash’ will work, unless it’s a shellac based primer, in which case a denatured alcohol will work.. only takes small amounts at a time to circulate and flush the pump and the line 👍 ..Hope this helps, regards Pete
Thanks a lot mate, appreciate your quick response!
However, I preserved and the finish was 👍👍 Better still, another insightful 👋👋video production using the Wagner 250m
Thanks
If not 3/16 fitting size on these what size are they and can a reducer fitting be used please ?
They’re a proprietary fitting, specific to the ControlPro / ControlMax range.. I’m afraid I’m not aware of an ‘off the shelf’ solution.. regards Pete
Hi, just bought the Wagner 350m, I’m a Decorator and just getting into spraying. Used it for the first time this week. I seem to be using much more paint than I would usually, I’m getting a good finish with no runs, is it normal to use more paint than roller?
Hi Matthew, great to hear from a fellow decorator and great to hear your venture into spraying.. it’s a learning journey, but worth it
You’re right, you will use more paint.. basically the transfer efficiency of Airless is poor.
Hence why I want to use the roller now
@ yes I used the 517 tip
Hi Pete, another great informative video! I also own the 250, what I’m finding is there excessive paint coming through, , I changed the filter and tip and still the same so I’m thinking it could be the seal in the guard? I’m going to get a replacement but no idea how to remove the existing one? Any idea? Thanks
Hello my friend, sorry for not getting back to you sooner.. do you mean too much material is being sprayed?.. thinking you could need a smaller tip, ie if a 517, then down size to a 515.. or a 311, go down to a 310 or even 308.. this video explains..
th-cam.com/video/0Q7LrmeMs3w/w-d-xo.html
Regarding removing a tip seat / gasket.. it has to be pushed out from the guard end through where the thread is.. you can use the plastic pointed end of the spray tip (where the spray tip number is written).. hope this help, let me know how you get on.. regards Pete
Anytime.. keep in touch brother 🙏
Hi just brought one of these what do the different numbers on nozzle
Your using a 515 I only have a 311 green?
I’ve seen you can get several different sizes for them
hi what roller can be attached to this sprayer .not an over expensive one.thanks.
I believe it’s a comparable price to the Graco solutions too
This later video, explains about the ControlPro fittings and what professional tip guards and attachments you could use.. it should be a useful video as a ControlPro owner 👍

/Hanna

This is purely to stop the ControlPro tips (and ControlPro guard) being used on a more powerful (professional) sprayer.. it could pose a danger.. whereas what you’re looking to do, the professional setup is being used on a smaller (diy) pump.. still a danger in terms of high pressure that could cause an injury but I guess the build quality is stronger with the professional tip guard and tips.. they’re built for day in day out use.. hope this helps, keep in touch.. it’s interesting to hear how you progress 👌👍 regards Pete

Wagner ProTip guard (like I demo in the video or a Graco RAC X guard 👍 let me know how you get on 😆
Cheers mate. Tomorrows the big day. The gun works nice with emulsions with a 10L tub. I was worried that a 3L pot would be too small.
No you’ll be fine, keep the siphon submerged and if ever you was to be reaching near the bottom, just tilt the tub 👍
I could speak to them tomorrow to confirm any promo discounts if that helps.. or if you also wanted to speak to them, ask to speak to Mike, he’s super friendly and his product knowledge in the industry is the best I know 💯
Keep in touch with me with what you choose, I’m happy to help and assist you in any way I can..

@@PaintHQ Thanks for the advice, l am fairly sure it was down to the paint was to thick. Will dilute on next project.
Ah no problem.. yeah let me know how you get on 👍
Hi,
Did you ever have a problem with pressure on the gun ?
Thanks,have a good weekend!

If you do reach out to SpraymanUK, ask to speak to Mike.. he’s super knowledgeable, friendly and won’t try and sell you something for the sake of a sale..
I’m also going to try and add Rob to this chat, he’s been an awesome contributor to this channel and has gave great experience of using a Wagner ControlPro 350M
Keep in touch, happy to help all I can, I very much want DIYers to get something out of the PaintHQ channel.. I will in future feature some more with the ControlPro range.. Also happy to help you with airless spraying in future ..just don’t want you to be disappointed 👍👌😆
Regards Pete
@a Man Friday
Hey Rob, are you able to offer your experience ..perhaps using the ControlPro tips?.. thank you my friend, hope you’re well 🙏
@@PaintHQ Hi Alpha Dog - Pete is spot on with his comments.
Thank you Rob, you’re a diamond.. really appreciate your input 🙏👌👏👍
@@PaintHQ cheers Pete, the graco is the one I want to go for, I've watch every video on them, know corded or cordless is the next mind field. 👍
Yeah the cordless does look great.. I’m tempted by one myself 🤔🙈
@@PaintHQ which is the best for waterbespaint 250m and gx21
I’d go for the GX21 my friend, or better still a GX21FF (it’s a GX21 with a hopper.. you can quickly switch between hopper and siphon feed) 👍😆
Hey PaintHQ
I'm after some advice.
@@PaintHQ top man Pete 👍 and thanks for the advice
Anytime my friend 👍
Any advise?
Hey, sure I’m happy to help.. quick question.. is it a trim / woodwork paint you’re trying to spray, and which spray tip are you using?.. regards Pete
Nice 👌
Thank you my friend 🙏
I have got a 250r and have used it for a couple of months every day and it hasn't let me down yet I find if you take off the intake tube and put a few drops of piston lube in it the little unit will run all day long I must have put at least 400 litres through mine and it is still going and that does surprise me considering the price I had the same issue with tips and guards a pain they don't tell you that when you get it mate
Hey John.. That’s great to hear 💯 ..I really appreciate you sharing the info and tips.. nice one 👏👌👍😆
i just brought 350r im busting to use it 🤣🤣🤣
Ah good news my friend, anything I can do to to help, I’m happy to try and answer questions and advise.. there’s also some very knowledgeable people who comment on this channel, who are familiar with the popular 350 sprayer 😆 ..keep in touch, I’m interested to hear how you get on.. regards Pete
I don’t see the point of using this tool. Especially for a small room. If you use a brush or a roll you don’t need to do all the covering. This tool could be useful to paint the outside walls of a full house.
Hello my friend.. if I recall the small bathroom ceiling had fully tilled walls - masking a perfect line along the grout line saved time laboriously going round and round with a brush, and the finished result was perfection 👌 I get what you’re saying though about airless spraying large exterior jobs 👏👏👏 Regards Pete
for the love of god why dont you talk in the video

DON´T use that dramatic music there !
Don’t worry my friend.. I WON’T 😉
