Thanks Jag for another wonderful video. I am glad that I was able to describe a little bit of the Blackberry I was picking in your farm the other day when you shot the video. The blackberries were gone within a few hours after I came home with the haul. We are enjoying the blueberries on extended timeline (froze a lot of it), they are absolutely delicious. The best of the lot for me was Boysenberry, they were these absolute little gems of sweetness. Thank you for the opportunity to share the appreciation and respect I have for the work you do. Be well my friend!!!
When I was little my dad helped the old lady one field over milk her cow, I would help her churn and pick in the garden. She had a yellow raspberry bush on her garden fence, at the gate, and she always let me eat my fill after I helped her.🥺 I'm almost 50, and Ive never seen them since. Thank you for the nostalgia and tutorial. I hope to have a small garden again some day and I'll plant yellow raspberries at the gate in remembrance of Miss Beulah 💝
My Dad grew raspberries in our garden when I was a kid. My mom would give me a bowl and send me into the garden to gather raspberries for breakfast. They were so good tasting, I'm sure I ate more than I put in the bowl! 😂.
@Michaeline Adkins * I'm embarrassed to admit; I do the same thing now, with my own blueberry bushes. Two for me, one for the bowl, lol. If my g'daughters pick with me, very few will make it to the house 😂😂 In some ways, I'll never grow up. The older I get, the more I realize, this is a very good thing ❤️
Hi Jag, I love your content. I think Mulberries deserves a place on this list. Very few people talks about this one, but in my opinion this is one of the best one.
Since following you, I’ve added grape vines to my farm, with 26 successful clippings to plant next spring. Now, I’ll be adding more berries! Thank you for the video 😊
At 1:39 when you said you were going to taste them, my goodness , my mouth got watery!!!!! Several times I had to swallow my saliva!!!! Then I just fast forward ther video!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Some of those berries looked juice-filled like a grape almost!! I love every kind of berry, but currently growing only 2 blueberry plants. It’s so wonderful to pick fruit from your backyard and eat it fresh.
Try using the berry plant netting, from Amazon. You can also purchase one of the large plastic owl statues, to place above your bushes. They look hideous, not only to us, but birds as well, lol. We had the same problem as you. Using the nets and the owl worked!
I'm 2 minutes down watching you munch on the Rasperries. The more you describe it, the nuttier i get. Help! Need to have some now🤣 I'm waiting for my Yoghurt you taught to make, to cool down. I believe it will turn out great, so simple. Thank you👌
Hi Jag that’s amazing I live in Trinidad 🇹🇹 but if my daughter could come to your u pick farm she would go crazy because she loves all the berries especially strawberries you are doing fantastic job it’s plenty work but I know you get that satisfaction seeing your labor to you and your family stay safe bye.
Absolutely loved your enthusiasm about the berries you are growing. I don't have land, but I do have two plots on an allotment, and have turned one into growing fruit only. I am growing Tayberries, strawberries, wine berries, cape gooseberries, raspberries and blackberries. After watching this video, next year I will make room for the Boysenberries and Loganberries, they look amazing. Thank you for sharing your journey, I am now subscribed and will be binge watching your videos, in particular about blueberries, as mine failed this year. :)
This year is the year I decided to grow berries. I have planted Goji berries and a couple of varieties of raspberries and blackberries. And lots of strawberries! With fruit a d veggies getting so expensive, it makes even more sense to grow berries which grow so easily, yet cost so much to be purchase. And they are the best fruits for health! Looking forward to a good harvest next year 🤞
Absolutely they are super foods 😅 and food etc is getting so expensive where I live too. It’s getting ridiculous how much things are costing now 😩 But im also growing some blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. There is also some wild blackberries but I always try and chop them back cos they are invasive and very thorny. I am going to get the thornless variety when I find one next so I don’t have to buy berries again.
Great video as always!! We just put in our food forest garden during the pandemic. I am growing most of these berries but the northern varieties. We live in NW Pennsylvania, zone 5b. My plants are just starting to grow and produce and I can't wait to try all of them. I harvested our very first (and only) haskap berry the other day and it was delicious!
I was fortunate enough to find a Pink Lemonade blueberry and it's delicious! I plan on taking some cuttings next year and growing more. I'm also growing several varieties of raspberries and blackberries. You gave me some new ones though that I need to be on the hunt for. Blessings from Linda in Georgia.
Did this last Sept my local Lowes store garden manager gave me a deal on pink lemonade blueberries and blackberries normally 12.98 he let me have it for $3 ea so i loaded up my little nissan juke 6 each, only problem wish i got more. pink lemonade produce well here here in 8b south GA, the flavor is amazing.
Mystic Meadow * OMGOSH.......these sound amazing! I've never heard of this type before. It's probably too late in the season now(?) I'm not very knowledgeable about planting, but in my later years, I'm learning ☺️. I am adding Pink Lemonade Blueberry Bushes, to my 'to do list' for next year! Thank you Mystic Meadow ❤️
Your berries look very fresh and you eat delicious , happy gardening . Next season i will order berries plant to grow in y garden as well i want taste it too.
Great video! Thanks to you & this video, I now think that I successfully started a raspberry plant from seed obtained from a raspberry I saved for the purpose of planting. I wasn't sure the plant was a raspberry plant. The leaves & vine look just like the first raspberries you shared in this video.
I've never had a boysenberry. The combination of flavors sounds very unique. We had blackberries in our backyard when I was a child and I was afraid to pick them😆. I know better now! Can't wait to visit your farm one day, Jag!
I am doing my best to up my berry game, but it is harder in Florida. I have 2 thornless blackberries and 3 rasperberries. Plus blueberries. I want one of those yellows.
Pretty cool. I learned a few berries I never heard of in my 37 years of life. Would be nice to find such a farming service out here in the Dallas Texas area. My first time hearing about a self pick farm. Will do my research. Thanks.
Everywhere I’ve lived has had a self-pick farm within 30 minutes or so. They can be hard to find sometimes though, but I’d ask people at a farmers market if you can’t find one online.
I am definitely getting that thornless black berry. I have stupid Thorned ones at home and they suck. I will be getting one for sure. What exact black berry plant is it called?
the best way to grow them is find a bag of dried organic goji berries at the grocery store or co-op. Put some in water and soak for a day or two. The seeds inside will fall out. Strain the seeds and then plant them like any other seed. Depending on your location, they can grow almost all year long. Good luck.
Other berries to grow aronia berries/ chokeberries, mulberries like Pakistan mulberry or Illinois everbearing mulberry’s, white mulberries also boysenberrys which are another blackberry raspberry hybrid
I wish I could grow raspberries in Oklahoma. I usually refer to the Oklahoma State University (our agriculture school) fact sheet when considering varieties. These fact sheets did not recommend growing them around here. 😞
I have never grown boysenberries before, but I'm going to have to try them, after your review! If I'm remembering correctly, I think the OSU fact sheet said that they would fair much better here than a raspberry.
