    I drove a nine axle with a spike or booster axles and it’s a lot of work, after unhooking and loading and hooking up and chaining down plus sweeping off your trailer and cleaning the dirt off the equipment 😢, let’s just say I didn’t need much exercise back then! Not the case now, however! 😂 Be safe out there boys! 🇺🇸💪👊

    We had 2 Cozad trailers in my unit in the Army. In CA we were not allowed to pull our 4-axle combat trailers on the highway when loaded. I got to drive one of them right before I got out.

      Steve - I sold these trailers into Wyoming a couple months ago to move a scraper spread but we have a couple other 65 ton lowboys for sale in the Seattle area -- nothing like this though. I grew up by Foss' Grocery in Covington and now work out of Gig Harbor and Tacoma. Drop me a note if you're looking for some iron: tc@pacrimcat.com --- Tom

    Question:
    From the cab of the tractor how does the driver line up the connections?

    Got to be really in it to win it when you go this big.
    Question? With all of those axles and assuming each axle has air brakes, is it hard on the trucks air compressor to recover especially when using the brakes a lot in certain times like when slowing down or pumping them on and off(not hard stopping pumps) but half pumps like going down a small hill or backing down a small decline when loaded? Are there ever any times where the air may drop to under the danger level? Do you have to beef up the compressor to compensate for all of those extra brakes?

    • @stuart4683
      @stuart4683 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      rob peters no sir no need to change the compressor no difference in air gauge really.

    • @dalehollobaugh4613
      @dalehollobaugh4613 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      that's why each axle has its own air tank

    • @pjtemplin
      @pjtemplin 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Each axle or group has a local air reservoir, fed from the emergency line. Relay valves, signaled by the service line, transfer air from these tanks to the brakes as needed, and that gives the compressor time to refill those tanks. As brake application pressures are rarely higher than 60psi, the system has a lot of capacity to maintain the pressure over most situations.

    • @jeremybaker5444

      Truck probably has a bigger compressor then a van hauler. Mainly for airing up to start. After that not a big deal

  • @smckinney3mckinney141

    With that axle,deck configuration what is the capacity of the trailer, and is the trailer deck detachable so that you can interchange various deck lengths to suit the job?and sweet trailer.

    • @tractordemo
      @tractordemo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      65 ton capacity. Total scale weight for everything is about 58,000 lbs. As an example, this set-up with the deck extension you could haul a Cat 637 scraper which is about 120K. And yes, the necks are detachable & interchangeable between the jeep & main trailer--the shorter neck also has a flip. The whole system can shorten up quite a bit if you need it to, especially if the jeep/long neck ride on the lowboy. Lifting the power tower adds ground clearance to cross train tracks or uneven sites.

    So how would you put the Jeep on the trailer and hook back up ? how would that work because it doesn't seem possible without a gooseneck to hook up to the tractor and the trailer. I guess without a crane and outside help to rearrange The trailer connection gooseneck back to the tractor with the Jeep on the trailer bed

    • @dantemils
      @dantemils 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You have two goosenecks! A really long one that attaches to the top of the jeeps and a shorter one that attaches to the bottom of the jeeps

    • @dantemils
      @dantemils 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So you basically back the jeeps into the trailer and detach the shorter gooseneck from the bottom and attach it to the trailer itself

    To me that just a waist of time and money hear in Australia we do thing different hydraulic ramps at the back widening trailer no shit like this crap and as many axial as you dare to have you can have rows of 8 tires if you want them . I pull a tri axial float behind the best rig that money can buy a 1996 old super liner with a 500 V8 motor if need be we can put a dolly under the front for extra weight

    • @ecovention
      @ecovention 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have a trailer like to get nice and low to the ground as their bridges are a lot lower than in Australia.

    • @robertallred2368

      Everyone knows that things are done differently, down under, that doesn't mean your way is better. We also have trailers, with hydraulic ramps at the back. But those are used for lite loads.
