I am a steerman for one these trailers. It's not a hoax it's real. We haul wind turbine blades on them. The axles on the trailer steer by a remote which let's us take turns. Which is my job. And yes if the wind is to high it will make the truck go out of control if you're not careful. Its actually a fun job.
I'm not a truck driver, so I will never use this information. It was interesting nonetheless. Very detailed and looks surprisingly easy! Really good looking product. Good job guys!
you forgot to say that "we recommend that you have escort vehicles to help you in every step from extending the trailer to load, to retracting the trailer after the unload." LOL awesome video. and you should put a link to your site in the description of every video you upload.
Quality, all around. I'm not sure what I am more impressed with; the design and engineering of the trailer itself, or how good of a product demonstration video this is. I doubt I'll ever come across this trailer or have a use for it personally; but after watching this video once, I feel pretty confident that I could extend it without any issues. I am surprised that the three axels on the trailer remained in the same spot though. Before the video started I assumed that the axel toward the front was connected to a separate extension from the two rear axels; I figured it would be closer toward the front of the trailer to help support the middle of the trailer, and possibly been able to turn making it easier to maneuver the trailer since it is so long. It makes me wonder how much large wind turbine blades weigh, and how much of that weight is at the end that is connected to the turbine. Are there any other practical uses for this trailer?
Hi Dalton, thanks for taking a look at our video! The reason all the axles stay together at the rear is because they are all connected to the outside, largest box beam. Since the blades are rigid enough to support themselves, a center support is not needed. Having one axle group is also easier to control and maneuver. Wind tower blades are typically between 30,000 and 45,000 pounds. This trailer is also useful for hauling bridge beams, or other materials that are long, rigid and have a low center of gravity.
128ft long divided by 2 = 64ft of clearance needed to turn left. 104ft clearance to turn right. Average intersection is 150ft wide so .. turning from a 2 lane to a divided 4 lane you pivot the steers and you merge from left lanes over median to right lane. Other words you get a piece of paper that says you can jump the curb legally from the left lane to the right lane turning right at the intersection.
Nice trailer, But why are the air, electric and hydrolic lines not follded in a spiral with a spring, round a long thin telescopic cilinder? That whay will easy up the extending job and speeding itt up as well.
I'm not a professional here but my guess would be the bigger section is stronger and if you dont need all the length it makes more sense to just use the strongest part of the trailer.
I am actually a steerman for one of these trailers the reason we dont pull all the pins it actually makes it easier to stretch it out instead of having to fight the pins when it's all stretched. If that makes since
This is an old way of extending! In Europe not exepted by the customer! Where is the powerchain inside the beams!❗️ With that you dont need to uncouple and couple air + EBS , power , hydraulics !
I cant imagine seeing one after a few years of abuse, way too many parts and pieces and functions, very cool trailer but I would not trust a seat cover to operate one
How much of a pain in the ass it probably is to make turns. If it was possible for it to articulate in the middle of the trailer, maybe it be a little easier, but this trailer is probably made to haul really long pieces of material. Like pieces for a bridge. I seen a truck haul a long piece of concrete wall for a highway on a trailer similar to this. The trailer was real long obviously, and looked like this trailer. Maybe it was this trailer. Lol

i guess it is pretty off topic but do anyone know of a good place to stream new tv shows online?
@Ezekiel Gordon i dunno I'd suggest flixportal. you can find it by googling=) -reuben
@Reuben Armani thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I really appreciate it!

The instructors voice makes it sound like your everyday device you buy at target.. lol
And everything is clean and shiny, not frozen with rust and road crap buildup. :)
40 acres are needed to turn this rig around
corn cobb give me 40 acres and I'll turn this rig around
Not with the steering system at the rear. you can turn it in areas you almost cant get a regular semi in to.

Thanks for the instructions. When you forget how to do something, they got videos on it.
These are my favorite type of extendable heavy haul semi trailers.
It’s huge I saw one of these drive-by before
I’ve always wondered how to extend and collapse one of these trailers thanks XLtrailers1 for a very helpful video
Nylon guides would of helped in reducing friction inside the beams as well as keeping the paint intact.
Amazing trailer and presentation vídeo!

Awesome trailer, great explanation... Except the 2 second music loop in the background honestly made me nauseous.
A thing of beauty.
You need to call a cab to get from back to the front but I think I would like to pull one
This trailer hasn't got anti blocking system for breaks? I am missing another connection cable.
Nice trailer,
But why are the air, electric and hydrolic lines not follded in a spiral with a spring, round a long thin telescopic cilinder?

Question: Why can't you pull all the pins at once while extending the trailer?
I'm not a professional here but my guess would be the bigger section is stronger and if you dont need all the length it makes more sense to just use the strongest part of the trailer.
When you the stopping points for collapsing it are probably much stronger the the points keeping it from getting pulled out all the way.

Cool Truck, awesome trailer and a great demonstration
You would need rear steering or a swivel tandem in the rear.
I live a mile and a half from the XL trailer manufacturing plant here in Manchester Iowa
So...one trailer length away?
Driving it all folded up with no blade must be a let down.
Where are you ever going to tow this other than the boonies
Probably not too many of those trailers being sold lately
Pretty simple 2 follow!
Sure and just going to do that on a two-lane road in the no-passing zone. That will make everyone happy.
what kind of (long) things will be transported when fully extended?
Wind turbine blades.
The company I work at do roofing sheets.
Windmills parts
We use ours to haul wings for Boeing air planes
Just a few simple steps!!

Alguém sabe dizer para que serve um motor vermelho que está na carreta no começo do vídeo.
How does it turn?
I am a truck driver but driving smaller trucks 14 tonne + heavy rigid truck licence

Me not being a truck driver saw this and thought woah that's a long trailer and clicked on it
Wait pull what pin.
what you guy pull for that trailer too long

Bisa kirim ke Indonesia??
I cant imagine seeing one after a few years of abuse, way too many parts and pieces and functions, very cool trailer but I would not trust a seat cover to operate one
y do it in the middle of the hiway? u lose.
because the stupid thing is too long to do anywhere else XD
william rural areas urban area are cities
its not a highway, its not even close to being a highway.
Matthew Pistillo why don't you learn proper English before you start bitching about where it was filmed
yesss😊
Rip tight turns
Jesus Christ I didn’t know windmill blades were that long
Yeah, If you go out to the Great Plains area (like the northern part of Texas) they have some here and there stopped on the sides of the road.
Tall*

And so fucking boring
Mateo Bramwell damn u beat me to it lol 😂

Cool
Dang that’s long
Mateo Bramwell damn u beat me again lol come on 😂
Bossboy Collins that's what she said
How is it legal to have a trailer that long? That more than three times the length of a standard trailer. Crazy!
By using oversized permits.
If you were to have this trailer and live in South la all those fucking pins will be missing in one day
✋👍👍👍
I don't thinks that was a strong trailer
Is this even legal?😂
What the heck would u use this for😂
Logan Sanford Transporting wind turbines

What ? Broken trailer:-)
Wow
could cut a lot of that BS out... they make them.. we driver them... Ask a driver..

I think it pivots at some point and the back is remote controlled
Having the pony motor on the driver side is just plain stupid and dangerous.
😳
Hoax
"Simple steps?" You're not serious. After doing it 150 x's, maybe.
Overlength
Why hello there youtube recommended why the fuck am i getting an ad for trunks?
