@@bitrage. That looks like a maw and paw shop and I bet non of those workers get paid a lot either. I mean, how often do you see well paid workers working without any safety equipment whatsoever? Not that I think all that safety is necessary but when you look, they overpaid workers are all protected at company expense

Those “Ag” trailers for us here in Canada are used mostly for custom combining crews. They haul dual wheeled combines or 300HP+ tractors/Quadtracs/4tracs with grain cart all over the wheat belt from Texas right up to central Saskatchewan/Alberta. Most custom crews usually run a minimum of 3 combines, plus tractor and grain cart, plus Draper headers, plus pick up headers if they get into canola, which is something that’s mostly grown up here as we don’t grow a lot of corn on the prairies. Canola, lentils, canary seed pay way better plus the yields are so much better.

We can run 10' wide trailers in western canada with just the over width permit 24/7 and it really sucks loading a feller buncher on a 8.5' trailer with outriggers and breaking said outriggers off.

Back in 2008 the municipality that I was employed with, we received our first Globe 50-ton detachable gooseneck low-boy trailer that’s almost exactly like the grey trailer featured in the video. An independent heavy equipment contractor submitted a bid and won the bid. I’ve been retired since 2011, and currently it’s still in use on a daily operation. The only minor problems occurred was the auxiliary motor that powers the gooseneck other than that it’s a solidly built low-boy trailer. 💯👍🤙🏽

I really enjoyed the tour of Globe Trailers. I am an engineering contractor now retired, so back in 1995 - 2002 I worked at P&H mining now It's Komatsu in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Back then I worked on the hydraulic excavator dippers, aka bucket, these dippers used plates 1.50 to 3.00 inch thick and the welding symbols, it's like trying to learn the Arabic language. The excavator frames were 10 times the size of Globe Trailers. I and several other designers and drafter were hired to complete the redesign of the 9020-dragline machine that went to Australia. It was quite a working and learning experience.

Hey Bruce, the real question how big and heavy do you want to haul??? I'm a heavy haul driver that's done 2-2-2, 2-3-2 , 3-3-3 , 3-4-3, 4-3-4.. Ya see when it comes to heavy haul
Go big or go home!! Which means not the load on the trailer, but instead the equipment you will need to haul that load.. for the little bit of equipment you might think about wanting to haul, I would honestly recommend a 30ft belly, 3 axle, disc brakes, outriggers, flip neck, LED lights and strobes on 3 sides, center storage area for dunnage, extra chains and binders, etc,.. A center lift and rear lift axle , why you ask
    1) you're in Florida
    2) having 2 axles that can lift will save you money in fuel and maintenance
    3) it gives you options for weight distribution
I can personally tell you that Globe Trailers are heavy but again they're built very well.. And surprisingly they actually ride somewhat smooth..
Good luck with your new trailer

Really cool tour literally a "One Stop Shop" in the way they can basically build whatever the customer desires. I don't think I heard the tour guide say no to any question you asked. Loved the white with red accents but sadly I would fear what it would look like once put into action? Thanks for taking us along was a little surprised at the lack of automation in the actual build process? It seemed like everything involved the employee named "manwell".

Little late to the party but just wanted to say, I'm from Michigan and pull the 8-axle van trailers. It was a little crazy to me when I first saw them but I always thought it was a normal thing everywhere until I came across a post on FB talking about how surprised they were to see something like that on the road and then comment after comment from others stating the same thing. Thats when I figured out it was a Michigan only thing and thought it was pretty damn cool.
Also, Glad to see someone take pride in what they do and are happy to show it off by giving you a tour of the facility. Awesome video!

Well Bruce, Globe makes quality product. Nice now they looking for bit of weight savings.
What are you looking to move? Bigger tractors? As in hight weight?
26' ft well was standard on 48' rgn 2axle You add 5 ' for 3rd axle you gain weight you can haul if you can keep it to rear. Not lot of hydraulic rgn have upper deck over fithwheel.
Talk to your buddies, talk to salesman. If you stick with hydraulic neck ask about padded neck support so you not messing you paint job.
Yes in Canada as in some western states we have wider trailers because we can get annual permit to move them. If load isn't over trailers width no more permits needed. Also makes it easier to load at times.
Good luck. Merry Christmas to you, family and crew

  • @bobnelson1428
    @bobnelson1428 ปีที่แล้ว

Bruce in Canada the standard width for any type of trailer is 102” (8ft. 6”) with a annual permit you can pull a 10 ft. Wide trailer for farm and construction equipment.

During testing it buckled under the weight of the doing to being to light weight. Ameron in 1979 s had the largest private fleet of flat bed trailers in California. We had a fleet of a 12 Cozad low bed heaven haul rigs. Fun times managing the fleet.

Bruce great tour. I like to see that metal fab stuff and it's in Florida. Wish the I could get the RV manufacturers to fab and paint there Travel Trailer or 5th wheel frames like Globe does. Great to see they clean there welds of spatter ( BB's) "Boogers" and "Grapes" unlike the RV company's. I worked a shipyard that built Destroyers for the US Navy. We built them using the Modular construction. The Navy inspectors would not "buy" a module unit if the welds were not clean before it went to blast and paint! BB's and grapes will break through paint eventually, not good especially in shipboard water and fuel tanks!

Pretty cool stuff. I've never seen an extension trailer going down the road like that. I've never seen a Globe trailer either, but as someone who is fabrication minded I wouldn't have a problem investing in a Globe trailer if I was in need of a lowboy. They look to be very well designed and they've corrected a some issues I've seen on a couple trailers that were common problems with the deck, side rails, and cross members. You can't prevent all the damage from years of dumbasses severely overloading 35 ton tandem axle trailers. But you can build a solid freaking trailer that will stand up to the abuse it is rated for. Even if it only has to go a few miles down the road, loading a trailer 20 tons over it's rated capacity is hell on the unit and I don't recommend trying it.

Excellent tour and trailer facility. Hope the price is reasonable knowing exactly what kind of quality you're getting. Thanks for sharing Jason

I would get the 55t (or the next size) with the axle covers that also act like a deck
