The KFO drama was so much! I do think there's room for discussion about the glass elevator in very specific contexts but this was clearly not the case here. It's very true that cisgender women are centered in knitting, especially test knitting, and so many people had a knee-jerk reaction to being asked to step aside for *one* test knitting call. Anyways I saw your KFO test knit on Instagram and it looks so cozy!!

Thanks for the kind words. That test is knitting up so fast.

I love your idea for combining the colors for your Modern Mudcloth! I know that you'll find a color combo that you vibe with and I can't wait to see the final result!

I think I need to work out something that brings me joy in terms of colours. The pattern is beautiful and I want to make sure I do something that does it justice.

I agree with your thoughts on the KFO testing call reactions. It also reminded me some of the reactions I got on Ravelry after I self-published a knitting pattern on there. It's a knitting pattern for a soft packer (mainly, a prosthesis, similar to knitted knockers, but in the shape of a phallus); and in the description, I gave lil bits of explanation, mainly, that it's something often used by transmasculine folks to alleviate gender dysphoria. Anyway, in some of the reactions I got, some of them were like : "Well, WHAT about the cisgender men who have their parts removed due to cancer ? It happens and they could use something like this too".
And like... Sure, anyone who wants to use the pattern are welcomed to ! lol
It's like, they are mad that (for once), something is not designed with them in mind first and they absolutely need to be acknowledged.

The internet is wild. What a great pattern to create.

I know black is your color, but blues would look amazing on you!

I think your KFO rant got a bit lost, but I agree it felt similar to a queer issue. To me the response felt more similar to straight people asking “why are these gays getting more rights than straights?” This is ONE pattern prioritizing male test knitters and everything else is for women.
I don’t think some female knitters realize your point that we have to modify so much. I’m test knitting now for a designer that asked for male knitters, but have been given no directions or guidelines on how to modify it to fit me to a point where I don’t think I’m testing the pattern anymore, I’m designing my own.

I think it's a fairly approachable point to open a dialogue about different perspectives.
