At 35:00, Master Warcraft doesn't allow Ben to choose how the creatures attack. It only allows him to choose that they are attacking. It was a bit disappointing to see it used incorrectly because it had a big impact at that point. Was a great game to watch though!
Good catch! EASILY a confusing card with how its worded. The 2005 ruling states "You choose attackers and make blocking assignments regardless of whether it's your turn and regardless of whether the creatures are attacking you. Your choices must be legal within the normal rules for attacking and blocking." Ben: Choose creatures that will attack, Owner of creature: chooses WHO/WHAT to attack Ben: Choose whether or not a creature will block Owner of creature: chooses how dmg is dealt Ben cannot: assign attackers to specific people or planeswalkers, assign how damage is dealt All must still be done within normal gameplay rules.
This was a great episode, but the standout moment was Eilidh drawing her token on camera. That should be a new rule for drawn tokens, you have to draw them on camera!
I have to say, when I first got into Commander Game Knights was my number 1 show. Then I discovered Tabletop Jocks and that became number 1 cause they posted more regularly. Now though, even though I still love both those shows, Elder Dragon Hijinks is the GOAT. Regular, quality uploads. Great games, guests and hosts. Fantastic atmosphere and a vibe that always feels like a bunch of friends playing this amazing format. You folks are incredible. Thank you and keep up the phenomenal work.

I have a Mathas, F(r)iend Seeker deck that I enjoy very much, so it's very heckin' cool to see Ben play one as well! I can't believe that you guys got that TH-cam science nerd dude, Kyle Hill! Not as awesome as having legendary MTG HoF'er and all around great guy, Brian Kibler on the show but we'll take it. 😉 One more thing, Olivia's "Fight Club" deck is very heckin' cool. I really dig it.
For me, I managed to get the dream of "summon every dragon from your deck at the same time and unleash the Dragon Tempest machine gun" to come together, and then one of my opponents cast that card that's like Deflecting Palm, but for all damage you'd take that turn (I forget the name and can't seem to find the correct keywords to search it up). So instead of killing everyone but myself, I killed everyone but that player xD
Judge!: Hey just so y'all know Primal Vigor is a symmetrical effect so everyone's counters and tokens would double not just Kibblers. I'm at like 57 mins in and a bunch of beneficial effects would have gone off to help the entire table. I know mostly cuz I run it as my group hug Doubling Season and it's INSANE
At 18:35 he played Parallel Lives, not Primal Vigor, which would only give him the tokens. Edit: I just realized this video is over a year old, so probably wasn't worth commenting lol.

Epic episode is epic! Wow. Elemental bond not having a “may” clause is brutal. For some reason I thought that garruks uprising was a “may” version but turns out it’s not! Green be like the limit to our power is simply the amount of cards in your deck. Lol ggs the angel trumpet sound bite for the missed trigger of it was amazing 🤩

Whenever a creature with defender enters the battlefield under your control, draw a card. Each creature you control with defender assigns combat damage equal to its toughness rather than its power and can attack as if it doesn't have defender."

Olivia didn't realize that the turn she played Breena, she attacked 2 players with more life than one of her opponents. So Breena triggers 2 times, she draws two cards and puts 4 +1/+1 counters 😁 I still love her anyways 🤣🤣🤣 amazing game!

why were you tapping sisay to use her ability, it's not a tap ability, it is an activated ability. You can use it multiple times if you have the mana for it.
Good game. I've never seen someone pillow fort with Najeela so hard. Brian didn't have to die though. Elemental bond is not a may ability but Myriad is.

@EDHijinks: Hey, Alias, Olivia -- I actually caught a deck tech for Olivia's deck! Turns out, if you pair Angel's Trumpet with Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist, you essentially get Silent Arbiter. But the difference is, it only applies to the controller of Mirri, instead of how the Arbiter applies to all players -- basically, the other three players aren't limited to only one attacker/blocker per turn, as long as they attack each other, rather than Mirri's controller. Note: I'm not sure if Mirri is in Olivia's decklist, but I'll check to see if it is. I just thought it was a cool interaction that isn't Collective Restraint or Propaganda.
YES, Master Warcraft! That card is such a house! I run it whenever I can, usually paired with Sunforger, it is such a good card and I wish more people ran it (glad to hear two people have it here, very based)
Sorry to pop the bubble, Master warcraft is actually really bad, since attacker still chooses who they attack (read oracle text of Master warcraft, it only forces attacking of creatures). Most people get this confused :c
@0:32:20, WotC sure makes it harder when you could simplify the text to (see logic changes for improved wording and correct logic): For each opponent a player attacks, if that opponent has more life than another opponent, then the attacking player draws a card. You put two +1/+1 counters on a creature you control. 184 char (w/ spaces), 32 words vs original text: Whenever a player attacks one of your opponents, if that opponent has more life than another of your opponents, that attacking player draws a card and you put two +1/+1 counters on a creature you control. 204 char (w/ spaces), 36 words
Unfortunately, your wording doesn't have the same function. It would allow players to attack you and potentially get the benefits (because you are an opponent of theirs). The original wording is what it is so that it specifies your opponents only.

@Elder Dragon Hijinks: Hey, um...Alias? Came back to watch this episode, because it was....entertaining, with Brian decking himself and it coming down to you and Ben. Just wanted to let you know that at the end of the game, when you used Path to Exile on Ben's Windborn Muse, technically the removal spell, if cast at that time, would have fizzled, because Ben, having used Teferi's Protection, phased all of his creatures out. On Teferi's Protection, it says for phasing, "Treat those permanents as though they don't exist." In other words, you would have had to wait for Ben's next upkeep to cast the Path to Exile. I know it doesn't change the outcome at all, but I still thought you should know, because I want to see the "turn stuff sideways and hit stuff" player (a player after my own heart, by the way) improve as a player and win more games. Lol Regardless, this is one of my favorite episodes, so on the entertainment scale of 1 to 10, this is a 13. Very highly entertaining. Before I forget, thanks for all the Commander content you and Olivia make, because it never fails to make my Thursday better!
This comment is geared to Ben Brode!!!! We've probably played against each other a lot at the Women's Club!!! I played there almost every weekend: drafts, sealed (was just commenting to the Professor (regarding alternate 'formats') about the sealed events there (you got a sealed Starter deck... and that's it! You kept your opponents deck if you won and could remake the deck you played with... I stopped doing that after two attempts; wanted to no longer be giving away cards for free to Jason Zila and Mark "The Hammer". Also good to mention that is where Scott Larrabee was plucked from (the past head of the DCI, but now a contributing designer) because of how well he ran the tournaments there (no one else in SoCal had a weekly spread like South Coast Gaming Association aka SCGA). We should connect, get in some Spelltable Commander games.
Very good play to deck himself by Kyle Hill. I put a fair bit of effort into making my combos 'idiot-proof' so I don't do exactly that. ATM I do have a Dreadhorde General that can cost me a game in Meren, but that card is busted AF and worth the risk I decided (I also decided that if I was digging my way through my deck I could probably deal with Liliana in a pinch). I think my old strategy of having literally no way for my combos to go sideways limited my carpool sometimes, it can be a good choice to use some riskier cards, also because it's hilarious to accidentally deck yourself.
We're so stoked to have Ben Brode join us this week! What an incredibly cool guy he is! I hope you all love this episode as much as I do!

Just a precision on master warcraft : you chose which creatures attack but not who they attack - the active player does that.

Unfortunately, your wording doesn't have the same function. It would allow players to attack you and potentially get the benefits (because you are an opponent of theirs). The original wording is what it is so that it specifies your opponents only.

Last week you guys asked for some deck suggestions, since I watched that vid late I thought I'd drop one here: I'd like to see a colorless deck featured! Maybe a Kozilek, The Great Distortion deck? Even though it would lack a bit of interaction, it would feature a lot of artifacts, which would please Olivia :)
@Elder Dragon Hijinks: Hey, um...Alias? Came back to watch this episode, because it was....entertaining, with Brian decking himself and it coming down to you and Ben.
Just wanted to let you know that at the end of the game, when you used Path to Exile on Ben's Windborn Muse, technically the removal spell, if cast at that time, would have fizzled, because Ben, having used Teferi's Protection, phased all of his creatures out. On Teferi's Protection, it says for phasing, "Treat those permanents as though they don't exist." In other words, you would have had to wait for Ben's next upkeep to cast the Path to Exile.
I know it doesn't change the outcome at all, but I still thought you should know, because I want to see the "turn stuff sideways and hit stuff" player (a player after my own heart, by the way) improve as a player and win more games. Lol
Regardless, this is one of my favorite episodes, so on the entertainment scale of 1 to 10, this is a 13. Very highly entertaining. Before I forget, thanks for all the Commander content you and Olivia make, because it never fails to make my Thursday better!
This comment is geared to Ben Brode!!!! We've probably played against each other a lot at the Women's Club!!! I played there almost every weekend: drafts, sealed (was just commenting to the Professor (regarding alternate 'formats') about the sealed events there (you got a sealed Starter deck... and that's it! You kept your opponents deck if you won and could remake the deck you played with... I stopped doing that after two attempts; wanted to no longer be giving away cards for free to Jason Zila and Mark "The Hammer". Also good to mention that is where Scott Larrabee was plucked from (the past head of the DCI, but now a contributing designer) because of how well he ran the tournaments there (no one else in SoCal had a weekly spread like South Coast Gaming Association aka SCGA). We should connect, get in some Spelltable Commander games.

Very good play to deck himself by Kyle Hill. I put a fair bit of effort into making my combos 'idiot-proof' so I don't do exactly that. ATM I do have a Dreadhorde General that can cost me a game in Meren, but that card is busted AF and worth the risk I decided (I also decided that if I was digging my way through my deck I could probably deal with Liliana in a pinch). I think my old strategy of having literally no way for my combos to go sideways limited my carpool sometimes, it can be a good choice to use some riskier cards, also because it's hilarious to accidentally deck yourself.
