Great video. I have the same tent, bought a year ago and love it. I had a plastic latch break during winter and my ladder was broke on delivery but they made it good. I have mine in my FJ Cruiser💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Now that’s a proper tent! Every side is useable unlike those clamshell triangled ones

Definitely a nice tent! It'll be interesting to see how long it takes you to consider the advantages of a ground tent. Taking care of a full bladder in the middle of the night is just one of many advantages that a ground tent affords. Another is not having to set-up/tear down every time you want to take a day trip if spending more than one night at a site. :)) However, it's definitely nice to wake up in a "room with a view."
I had seen this setup in California at the Adventure expo this past March. I like the fact that all sides are up. I'm looking forward to seeing your opinion later in the year. 👍🏽

man its been a toss up between a JB or a GFC. I think the JB has more features for sure, I just like the way the GFC attaches to the 4Runners.
Yeah, I wish the GFC was a little shorter…if you decide to go through with buying a GFC, shoot me an email because I have a like new mounting system collecting dust in my garage
hope it holds up better than the older tents with this new material. Every JB tent I've seen that's more than a year old looks terrible. Faded/cracked fiberglass shell. Mattress inside has tons of rips and tears. Ceiling insulation drooping down. They claim premium but from what I have seen they are the most fragile tents on the market for people who actually use them.
Interesting, yeah I’m curious to see how it does. 5 year warranty 🤷🏻♂️? This is ABS, not fiberglass…
I miss when this channel was DIY budget builds.
Surprisingly no one watches the DIY...I stopped doing them because they got less views. Anything more fancy than using 2x4s was only watched by a select few. When I built my modular platform setup using off the shelf parts with minimal DIY, then people were more interested.
I thought you had Kammok awning on your rig. Did you have to remove it to install the JB? Asking because I am interested in the awning. Thanks.
What kind of heated blanket do you use? Does it use a lot of battery?
Just a cheap one from Target. They sell 12V DC ones that are probably more efficient. This one pulls around 70-80 watts
how do you tighten the middle feet in with a set behind and infront? wouldnt the other ones be in the way?
I mount all the crossbars before putting it on my rack because even the outside ones are barely accessible

The question to me is this really worth 6X the price of the NaturNest Orion?
Probably not...that tent looks solid for such a low price tag. I am not sure on the quality since I haven't tested it but often you get what you pay for and finding the middle priced product usually pans out with a nice balance of price, features, and quality. This tent is cream of the crop and its for someone who wants the best quality, features, and materials with a good warranty.
@@OverlandEngineer Right on, I definitely would rather buy once cry once, but often the disparity between the premium brand and the low end junk is hard to maneuver. I'm still not sold on RTTs entirely.
6:40 The ladder in this model is terrible. It takes up a lot of space. The rungs of the ladder are not flattened and inclined to make climbing more pleasant and it shakes when climbing.
Do you have a James Baroud? There is plenty of space to store it in the tent and the rungs of the ladder are flattened...I'll take the bending over the self collapsing ladder every day of the week, those are just as flexible and sometimes the locking mechanisms come free and the ladder collapses...
I will admit I took devilish pleasure watching you struggle putting that tent away, but….. it’s cool seeing a very first use and impression of that product. You’re a pro now. Hope to meet you this weekend in Springfield! -Chris⛰️🚙
