    Nebraska was never in this game. They were flat and unfocused from that first Indiana drive. This is the type of loss that divides a locker room and causes a team to lose other games. The biggest concern was watching the team quit. Indianas back up qb was able to get 28 points. They Quit!

    Nah I’m not buying that Raiola is playing bad. Completely disagree. You guys are doubting him because he starts throwing picks when we’re down 28 points. He’s trying to make something happen. When you’re down 28 and your defense can’t stop them is he supposed to be throwing the ball away? Going down? That’s not an accurate assessment of what’s going on with him. I see this in high school basketball all the time. A team has a good player and a bunch of bad players around them. People blame them for turnovers or missed shots when the reality is they’re just trying to keep their team in the game and because their team is playing so bad they have to take riskier and riskier plays. Bad take.

    I was the biggest Rhule advocate but that was possibly the worse loss in school history. In year 2 we’re worse than FCS teams against ranked teams. There is no explanation or reason other than this staff flat out sucks. Losing by 50 to a team you out recruit by 40 ranks on average doesn’t happen to good coaching staffs.
    I’m out on Rhule, but we’re not able to fire him so it is what it is. We will finish 5-7 and be terrible until very significant changes happen.

      I feel our offense’s lack of incorporating a quick short and safe passing game will protect DR, but also open up the anemic run game. Our offensive line is not quick to pull or run counters with the exception of probably Scott and Macuzza

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Nebraska can soften up the defense by using a quick, short passing game (such as slants, screens, and quick outs) early on. This forces Ohio State's defense to respect the passing game, preventing them from stacking the box. Once the defense starts to spread out, it creates more space for the running game.

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    PATIENCE IS KEY - Establishing the run may take time, but consistently testing the defense can eventually break down their discipline and create more opportunities.

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Utilizing TIGHT ENDS AS BLOCKERS in the run game is a great way to get an extra body on Ohio State's LBs or DEs. Nebraska can use TWO-TIGHT END SETS OR H-BACKS to add physicality and protect the edge of the offensive line.

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Nebraska's offensive line must focus on WINNING THE BATTLE IN THE TRENCHES! A consistent push at the line of scrimmage is essential to get the running game going. This might involve simplifying blocking schemes to allow the offensive line to play faster and more aggressively.

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    We need to stick with the pre-snap motion and jet sweeps to confuse Ohio State's LBs and safeties. Motioning WRs or TEs across the formation can shift the defense and create favorable matchups or running lanes.

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Running back screens and swing passes can also function like extended handoffs, getting the ball into the running backs hands in space WHILE wearing down Ohio State's linebackers.

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    We can mix in RPOs which allows the QB to read the defense and decide whether to hand the ball off or pass based on the defenders' positioning. This can help Nebraska exploit Ohio State's over-aggressiveness and keep the defense off-balance.

  • @jesusrivera743

    The Nebraska Ohio State game should be quite a battle both team coming back from losses. Both teams should be pissed and up to the challenge. The key for Nebraska try not to get blown out. • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    And it sounds like Haarberg may be playing against Ohio State (Dylan is iffy on an injury). If so, then read option will be more effective than they have been this far in the season. Read Option forces Ohio State to account for both the QB and the running back on EVERY play, slowing down the edge rushers and LBs.

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Nebraska's game plan should adjust throughout the game, exploiting mismatches and weaknesses that develop in Ohio State's defensive front.

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    It's essential for Nebraska to REMAIN COMMITTED TO THE RUN GAME, even if it doesn't work immediately. Ohip State may stop several runs early, but wearing down the defense over time through physical play and staying balanced will open up bigger runs as the game progresses.

  • @ChristianHuenink
    @ChristianHuenink 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    We need to run quick pass game. We need to start running a variety of plays out of our obvious looks. Defenses know what we are going to do just looking at who is on the field and where they are. Feels like our players arent coached well. Riaolas first interception was because he expected fidone to quickly sit his route in the middle hole of the defense, instead fidone turned outside to the sideline. Rialoa threw it where fidone should have been turning around. And floating safety behind intercepts it and runs it back to our redzone.

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Literally EVERYTHING I posted here is within the context of the running game and getting it going (only ONE aspect of the offense). Especially think about the misdirection, varied run schemes, and QB involvement. Nebraska can create opportunities to get the run game going against Ohio State's tough defense. It's about being patient, creative, and physical.

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    If Ohio State shows any tendencies to over-commit to stopping the inside run, Nebraska should counter by attacking the perimiter with OUTSIDE RUNS like toss plays or stretch plays. Conversely, if Ohio State spreads out to defend the edges, Nebraska can use INSIDE RUNS to gash the defense up the middle.

  • @jimphillippi616

    More on Tempo Changes: Conversely, mixing in SLOW, METHODICAL DRIVES can also help tire out Ohio State's defense by keeping them on the field for long periods of time.

    My mailbag question: If it's about "we've got guys who quit when they get punched" then avoiding playing young guys who won't quit for "development" needs to be looked at deeply. I'd rather we are playing with guys that are trying for something instead of convinced we can't do it.
    Regarding Satterfield. Here is the thing, receivers have been open especially last year. Not as well this year but they are still open. The QBs continue to miss the opportunity and hold onto the ball too long. We also had quite a few drives that got killed to turn overs against IU. The defense had no answers at all. They had maybe one stop? White should be the one getting the questions more so.

  • @jimphillippi616
    @jimphillippi616 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Against Ohio State, we need to start out with zone running schemes (both inside and outside) to wear down the aggressive Ohio State front by FORCING defenders to read and react instead of attacking down hill. And THAT helps create cutback lanes for the running back.

    • @jesusrivera743
      @jesusrivera743 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Quick short and safe passing attack will open up the running game and give the offense a rhythm. We need to give the ball to our main playmakers on a consistent basis. Some players get better the more they touch the ball. PS Cignetti’s transfer portal was different . He brought in half the James Madison University team. Proven players use to a cultural of winning football . Perennial contenders in their division a la North Dakota State . Quite the contrary to Matt Rhule’s first year.

  • @Kepster999
    @Kepster999 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The offensive line for Nebraska was missing key blocks and allowing tackles for loss. Some of the passing plays took way too long to develop. The routes were simply too long for the amount of time Raiola had to throw. Some of Raiola's throws were off target and thrown to covered receivers. Indiana's offensive line was perfect on nearly every play. The holes were large enough for their running backs to run the first five or six yards literally untouched. The blow-out score was a result of the five turnovers. Be that as it may, even without the turnovers, NU would not have won this game. So you tell me. Is that coaching or poor player talent?

  • @jimphillippi616

    Tempo Changes: Nebraska can utilize NO-HUDDLE OR HURRY-UP OFFENSE at times to wear down Ohio State's defense. Running plays at a faster pace can prevent Ohio State from making substitutions, and fatigued defenders are easier to run against.

    Nebraska quit. Pure and simple. In year two. Instead of Rhule telling players he's proud of them after another embarrassing loss, maybe it's time for the stick. These are grown men, not kindergartners who need to be continually affirmed how great and amazing they are. If the starters are willing to just lay down and quit at the first sign of adversity, then bench them and start burning redshirts. Cignettiti and Deon had the right idea. When they took over their losing programs, they sent the players who had a history of losing to the portal. They got rid of them and brought in players who knew how to win. Maybe it's our turn.

The position is too difficult for an 18 year old kid to come in and master. Most linemen don't come in and start as freshmen. They're not mature enough. But with the transfer portal coaches play kids early to keep them. I don't think that's good for the program or the player.

I understand we don’t have talent. I’m trying hard to not blame coaching. Although they are some of the problem too. Regression is just that. Cant be worse. Which we maybe are? Than last year. If you didn’t see this coming then you didn’t watch the PU, RU games I mean maybe qb/wr have no cont maybe Dylan needs to work with them on instead of going to KC work with qb coaches it’s continuity. No one is on the same page. When you make it look harder than it is it’s horrible.

      @@darinzadina6671 Dylan is regressing because our OC is terrible. Get a qualified or a good up and coming OC and Dylan will look as good as advertised. There’s a reason why South Carolina fans were happy Satterfield left.

    Nebraska had 2 weeks to prepare for Indiana.
    Sorry Guys but after hearing your Podcasts,The Fans,The Media, you acted like it was a given that Indiana hasn't played anybody, That Nebraska was the First Real Team, That you had a Top 5 Defense,Hadn't given up a Rush Touchdown all year, you acted like Indiana wasn't good enough to compete against your Vaunted Nebraska Football team. We'll how's that 56-7 ass beating you took from Indiana, when you think your better than you are, completely ignore, overlooking how Good Indiana has played irregardless of the Opponents.
    Like Indiana's Top 15 Offense,No#3 Scoring offense, There Defense was Top 4 in the Big Ten.
    Your folks out there Acted like Indiana was seeing the First Big Opponent, I'd Say you found out that Indiana is a lot Better Team,Better Coached, and Finally seeing What being a Good Team looks Like,Having a Sellout.
    Indiana Fans Are Enjoying a National TV ass Beating we Gave Blue Blood Nebraska Program.

    Both the OL and DL are the bigger issues. It has been and still is against B1G football teams.

      Nope. WRs and Special Teams are our biggest issues. OL and DL are fine.
