Bad casting from top to bottom. I’ve always said Paul F Tompkins would have made a perfect Taskmaster. Very different from Greg but a perfect dramatic showman type of persona and he’s such a great improviser, it would have been perfect
I would love it if Alex was the first guest for each Episode 1 of the "Rewind/Rewatch" podcasts. Having that backstory of how the contestants were chosen and the general theme is a great way to start off.
While I completely agree, why limit him to only one per series?

Also, I think I speak on behalf of everyone when I say we'll need to see that "show zero".
It sounds like they have a lot of extra footage they could put out with show zero and all the tie break tasks that never needed to be used. Might not be good enough for TV but have it as outtakes on youtube and us crazed fans will eat it up.

I think that's a very fitting way to say you have a son. The wife had to feed him, carry him around, birth him. Alex just held her hand as she struggled. Possibly xD
42:54 Alex's appreciation for James's admiration of the show really came through during the series, he paid more compliments to him than to any other guest ever. So nice to hear he'd love to have him back, since it's clear that's it's a collective sentiment. @Taskmaster make it happen! Do a series of most requested comebacks!

I wish Alex would talk about the (understandably forgotten) American version of Taskmaster and his experience with it.
He talks about it on his RHLSTP from a couple years ago
They should try the American version again with a different host. I think someone like John Goodman would work well.
They should just put all of Taskmaster on Netflix/Hulu/Amazon.
And I would welcome an American series, BUT ONLY WITH GREG AND ALEX.
@@scottcampbell96 from what I've seen, the host wasn't really the problem. I mean he wasn't Greg if you were expecting that, but the bigger issue is the contestants were largely people no one had heard of. Part of the appeal of the show is we get to see glimpses of the real people behind personas we're already familiar with. You don't get that if you have no such familiarity to begin with. If you just have a group of unknown contestants, that pushes it closer into the category of being just any other competitive reality show. Would getting famous-enough-to-be-recognized US comedians be a tough ask? Maybe, but if so, then that right there imo is why it always unlikely to work well.

@@andrewjohnston2850 I have a feeling the podcast was Ed's idea OR Alex is already too busy he cannot have another podcast and that's why he's not hosting. Also, after a full series done by Ed it would be a dick move to take it away from him and sort of weird now that the "official" host is no longer there. But that's just me who found out about TM two months ago, so don't mind me so much...

@@BrocKelley Strange seeing how he does host the 'The Horne Section Podcast' and does a marvelous job at it. I find it more likely that he doesn't have the time.
Taskmaster should do like RPDR and have an 'all stars' season where some of the better and most popular contestants have another go, winners excluded
I like this idea, but now I'm imagining drag race contestants on Taskmaster.
2 special episodes a year, one is this and the other one is like the New Year's special.

Can we PLEASE hire a sound engineer so we can sort these volume issue out? The music stings are way too loud and all throughout compared to the voices 😭
Don't even need a sound engineer, just for whoever records it to take two seconds to check the waveform for a second and notice the music is stupid loud compared to the rest of it

the "find alex" task did get re-used for Taskmaster New Zealand, with a few extra rules and a frisbee

In most series they did a good job spreading around where they pulled the episode titles from, but then you get to series 7 and it's almost as if the entire series consisted of nothing but James Acaster and Phil Wang.

So I was re-watching this episode and right after Greg laid his fury upon Tim's Anteater painting the camera did a cheeky foreshadowing. I wonder if there are more of this kind of moments scattered around the season, or even the entire show

Your reaction to Romesh throwing the watermelon onto the floor is the litmus test for whether you’ll enjoy Taskmaster or not
I've always assumed that Greg says he's seen The Matrix in order to not snub Romesh, who uses the movie to describe his attempt.
Funny, I'm on the opposite side: I assumed that he had seen it, but pretended he didn't in order to further snub James.
The bath task is the one I've always wanted to do. The solution is simple. You immediately strip off your clothes and leave them a fair distance from the tub, then get in it. Then using your feet on one end and your arms on the other, push the bulk of your body back and forth in the water until you create a gigantic wave and slosh most of it out. After that use your shirt, which is probably most absorbant, to wring out the last inch of water in there, and then you still have your dry pants to scrub up the droplets.
I think that would have destroyed any time that involved trying to scoop the water out.
The holiday special was great. Please do more of those if possible. A Cats Does Countdown Taskmaster special would be fun and 5 contestants/countdown regulars is set (though Jon has already done a series)
I believe four is the most episodes a contestant has provided the name of, and t'was done by Bob (Residue Around the Hoof, A Wind Dried Puffin, Their Water's so Delicious, I've Sinned Again) and Liza (Tarpeters, BMXing, What Kind of Pictures?, He Was a Different Man)
It was the reindeer skull that hooked me. From the one person on the lineup I didn't already know before this show
In Sweden Season 5, we had a task where the letter was outside of the greenhouse which is our current "lab" room. The task was to eat the watermelon (we never did that one in any previous seasons) and the watermelon was in our case frozen. The time started when they would go in. 3 of them did pretty okay. One guy walked in with the task and started to read (which made the assistant start the timer) and another person didn't step in, she managed to somehow get the watermelon to her and then go into the kitchen with it.
I hope Josie Long gets to be on a future series of Taskmaster she would be good.
I like the podcast because it gets you in the mood for Taskmaster, but without being an episode episode. I feel like having two episodes a week would be too much, and this is a good balance.

Might have posted this story somewhere else already, but when I first saw the extension building task, I thought "Oh, I get it; Alex has been rewatching old episodes of The Mole, and Rhod's obviously been given a secret task to sabotage his team without them realising."
No secret task. He was *genuinely* that bad.

I really really really don't wanna get spoilt about seasons 8 and 9 but I also really really really wanna listen to the podcast. Any hints or tips if/how I can avoid spoilers in this and all the episodes that are already out?
Shouldn't be an issue season 8-9 should be uploaded before this podcast series is even close to those episodes.
Don't watch the series 10 podcast if you care about being spoiled who wins series 9.
I think they also mention the season 8 winner somewhere, but can't fully remember.

I kinda wish they redid some of the older tasks or brought back some of the older contestants. I thought most of the tasks in series 10 were crap and I don't think the contestants were great.

If Alex didn't like the Horse task, why did he do it again for the American version?
Did he make the tasks for the US version as well? I get the sense he didn’t have very much creative control over any aspect of that one and was essentially only present in the first place as a formality.

It's baffling to me that Alex seems to realize that a simple task is better than a task where contestants spend half the time trying to understand what they are allowed to do, but there's so many of these tasks now. I understand that the lateral thinking they encouraged early on makes it hard to formulate a task that is basically "take these things to that thing with your feet or whatever, no loopholes allowed" but to me it really sucks the fun out of an episode.

Ed - can you PLEASE normalize the volume on these before you upload them? I have to up the volume to hear your and your guests voices, but the breaks with the horns and the Taskmaster theme are SO EFFING LOUD - I have to constantly turn it up and down because it's such a huge difference, it's really annoying!
