Thank you so much! This review was a ton of work (three trips to the speed-run course to make sure I had the data and scooter settings exactly correct), but this comments section is making it all worthwhile. -Paul
I wouldn't say this is a hyper scooter because the word Hyper more correlates to fast or speed just like Hypercars that prioritizes speed than luxury. The Apollo Pro is more of a Luxury scooter, you could also say its Apollo's Lexus.
It IS an Hyper Scooter. The other guys can call theirs Speedy or Fast, I don't really care. I prefer HYPER for the Apollo Pro by far. It's called Hyper just because it is Hyper. 😉
@@Andral_Premier ehhh I mean opinions yeah I guess but I think OP nailed it. Not saying anything bad about the scooter at all, but Hyper is a bit of a reach.
I've been waiting for this review, we appreciate all the hard work you guys do! Thanks for the beta program information you guys are the best plug for electric scooters by far
Thank you so much. I spent twice as much time on this review as I usually do. It was by far, the most labor intensive review I've done. I did three separate trips to the top speed run location to make sure I got the numbers right. -Paul
I'm glad you touched on the IP66 rating. It really sets the Pro apart from other competitors you mentioned (including the Phantom). IP54 just doesn't cut it for a daily driver. This kind of actual water resistance is a requirement before any scooter can be truly "vehicle grade." Reliability is non-negotiable in a future of sustainable transportation. I'm looking forward to the day when IP66 is the standard for any scooter over $1000.
I think we're heading that way fast! It turns out that the Apollo City's spec has gone up since we reviewed it. It was IP56, but now IP66 as well! (water rating hasn't changed, but it gives me more confidence in thw water number when the dust number is higher too) -Paul
@@jeffbill Obviously IP67 is a higher rating than IP66, but it's only useful if you want to submerge your scooter underwater, which seems like a bad plan to begin with, even momentarily. You wouldn't be able to buy a car with IP67, so I don't see why you would need that on a scooter. IP66 is already one rating above what most riders would need, which is enough peace of mind for me.
Love the channel and all your reviews!! Can't help but notice that we were told that you couldn't show Quad Lock @ 7:33 But we can clearly see their Quad Lock in POV cam @ 12:01
Good catch. Hopefully, the lighting is bad enough in that shot that we don't get in trouble with QuadLock. I honestly don't know what part would be revealing. The lock mechanism itself (the female end of things) is available for purchase on Amazon. That's where I got the phone case for testing! (my phone in the video). -Paul
Nice review Paul. Look forward to seeing the beta test units rolling out. I think the most direct comparison here is the Segway GT2, from both a design and performance perspective. The 0-30 time is pretty slow, most likely because the motors peak at 1,800W vs 3,000 for the GT2. I’ll take your word for it regarding drum brakes but I still love the hydraulic brakes on the Segway GT. And, Segway released a major firmware upgrade last night that adds KERS, electronic braking, mode customization, and horn customization. So we’ll have to see how the software functionality of the Pro vs GT compares when the final product is out. At $2,500 I think beta testers are getting a great value. At $4,000 I think it’s a tough sell. The GT2 regularly gets discounted to $3,500 so you are going to have to pay $500 more to get less power and drum vs hydraulic disc brakes. I don’t see many buyers at that price. But who knows, maybe the market will be there. Time will tell.
Thanks for the insightful comment. I hadn't heard about KERS getting added to the GT2. I was honestly really surprised that the GT2 didn't have it, but also surprised just how good the brakes were without it, because the rotors are extra thick. I'm curious what their regen feels like. I think the beta test units for the Pro are $3k not $2,500 though. Time will tell where the street-price for the Pro will end up with coupon codes etc. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Paul, speaking of the GT2, I listed a few pertinent questions in a top comment on the ESG GT review, aimed squarely at your guidance on the suspension calibration and settings. If you can spare a moment, can you pop over there and advise? Thank you for that!
Bought a Phantom V2 on your recommendation, recently did the V3 upgrade and I'm very pleased with everything but the scooters weight... I knew going in it was heavy but its so well built it feels heavier than it is! 😅 Great review and exciting to see continued innovation from this amazing company.
So glad you're enjoying your Phantom. I've had a few surprised reactions recently when I picked up a heavy crate, for example, here at ESG. Moving scooters around is the only weight lifting I do, but seems to be working! -Paul
Paul, I liked when you used to put summary of specs at the start. (Specifically Weight, battery size). I would also have top speed, range on the same page. I think it makes the review more transparent.
That was a mistake and I can't believe it got past me. We'll bring those back, but I'm super bummed that they didn't end up in the video. I take the time to measure every dimension, weigh the scooters etc, so I'm upset that it's missing and that I didn't catch it in time. We will have all of the measurements and specs in the ESG database soon, if not already. -Paul
Any chance you could include charts in the reviews to put the specs into context? Like seeing how it's braking numbers compare to a a number of other similar products instead of just one? This would be super helpful when comparing options 😁
I would sooooooo love to do that. We used to show a lot of data, but the sentiment around the office was that we were too data heavy in our videos. I loooove graphs myself. If you post in the ESG Facebook group, I can shoot you some custom made graphs. I expect that Apollo can drop at least a foot off of the braking number from my pre-production (earlier than Beta) scooter if they add more peak regen power. -Paul
Pretty happy with my KQi3 MAX for reliability, errands, and pack-away joy riding on trips (have a KQi2 Pro as a spare), but if I wanted a higher-end product, this Apollo Pro is what I'm looking at. Segway GT-2 and other higher performance e-scooters just don't have the balance of features/polish I'm looking for. Thanks for the video!
Yeah mate come join the City Pro posse, you won't regret it, like floating on a cloud when you ride one. FYI.... An upgrade kit is coming in June so if I were you I'd buy a 22 model now and add an upgrade kit in 3 months time.
I just got the city Pro. I use it every day as a rain or shine commuter. Its kind of like the Pro's little brother. Looks similar with some of the same features. 1000w puts it in a more pedestrian category but still quite fast and powerful. My biggest issue so far is that the throttle sticks down in full acceleration sometimes. kind of dangerous actually. Will try to use some lithium grease on it.
@Timothy Germann Get onto whomever you bought the scooter from and have the throttle replaced FREE. I had the same issue and recently I reached out to the sales team in which I purchased the scooter from and I took it into their Apollo repairer. Everything was taken care of via them through Apollo and it didn't cost me a cent. There are updated throttles (V8 I think?) that fix this issue (with raised buttons for more precise control) Ask Apollo directly as they will know. My City Pro came with the original throttles (indented buttons) which are difficult to press particularly with gloves on. When I got my new and improved throttle upgrade it made a world of difference. Hope this helps
Excellent review Paul! I’m really excited about this all new Apollo model with 12 INCH TIRES and next level ergonomics and integrated design. I can’t wait to own one!
@nicolebozeman2647 I see it now on their site! Interesting! We reviewed something that looks very similar, called the Mercane Jubel. th-cam.com/video/ByfxYpbWLYw/w-d-xo.html
You guys are awesome... Your reviews helps me selecting what scooter i should get. sadly because of what's goin on in the economy i ended up really tight on budget of getting this i ended up getting the Apollo ghost...But i am loving it too...This one is into perfection
As someone who daily scoots a 2022 Apollo City Pro, I can say the performance numbers aren't as important as the thoughtful design and build quality. I'm still hanging out for an integrated rear view mirror for a bit more car awareness.
Yes! We agree! It's so much harder to get this across in a review video than the idea of "Moar Powaaar!" but Apollo have been bravely giving us what we really need, rather than what makes headlines. I hope it works out for them in the long run. It worked for Honda and Toyota! -Paul
I ride my City Pro daily and CANNOT WAIT for this beast. I love your reviews and are honestly the benchmark in my opinion before making any scooter decision. My fingers are also crossed as a beta user. I’ve applied and I hope the fact I ride an Apollo 20+ miles daily rain or shine get me in the running ⚡️😏⚡️
Paul, do you have plans to check the hill performance of the 2023 Pro? I am 225 lbs and have a few 12 degree hills to get home on but don’t want the speed to drop off to like 6mph on the hill. I want to get the Pro but am concerned the the 12 inch wheels might rob the climb ability. Thanks for all the great vids!
Very clean design, not busy or cluttered like some sort of robotic insect, probably the best looking atm imo. Seems like it should offer better acceleration for the price. Also I'd personally like to see more graphs/data comparing all the scooters tested (in similar class) something like: 0-30, braking 15-0, weight, hillclimb, top speed, and range test on highest mode.
Thanks for the feedback Spencer! I love graphs and am always wanting to put more graphs and data in the reviews. I'll relay your suggestion to the team! -Paul
you should make a video on the segway e2 plus i know you have already made one on the regular e2 but i’m getting an e2 plus for christmas and im wondering if it could do my day to day shopping and going out with friends. Keep on riding. ❤
It is the equivalent of an S Class Mercedes AMG. Sophisticated beauty. Technology of the future. Next generation build quality and attention to detail. Outstanding Performance where it counts. Reliability to the next level. It might not be what us Scooter Nuts wanted. But it’s what we needed.
Wow! Very well said. I think this is one of the most impressive (and frustrating) things about Apollo. They insist on giving us what we need, knowing that it's not the stuff headlines are made of! It's much easier to make videos about: "Fastest Scooter Ever!" than "5 years from now you'll be glad you have one of the best BMS to ever be used in a production scooter" :-) But in the long run, it's really good for the scooter industry when someone like Apollo makes a scooter that's not disposable! -Paul
I'm one of those 100 beta testers. I'm very excited to ride it to and from work. I love my Phantom but have no use for 2 scooters. I'll likely give the Pro to my roommate after testing.
This is the first scooter that's made me consider switching to a 1 car family with a scooter as the second vehicle. I'd be interested to see what the real world range is on it. Apollo tends to under promise and over deliver, which I love. I just don't know whether they have done that here as well or not.
A folding lock through the handle would do the trick. I think scooter manufacturer's may be reluctant to include physical locks as part of the product, because you can imagine the sorts of customer service phone calls it would cause, such as: "I locked my scooter and now it won't unlock" or "I locked my scooter, and now my scooter is gone. Why is your lock so easy to defeat?" I have this vision of cities having anchor-points installed in the sidewalk, and then scooters could drop anchor into the anchor points. So a whole bike-rack (scooter-rack in this case) would just be a series of metal bumps on the ground that scooters could anchor to using drop-down anchors. It would be so cool and lightweight. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Thanks. I understand. I'd just like something incorporated into the scooter design that will allow a lock to be securely used. Up to the owner to choose a lock.
I expect that may change by the time they get to production. On the other hand, while it doesn't look as nice as when a scooter is riding perfectly level, I feel like scooters feel better jumping off of curbs and braking if they have a little bit of a "Carolina Squat" to them. -Paul
@@skycastle201 @RiderGuide Just noticed your question. Instead of (all USD) $4,000, it's $3,000 and then you receive $500 back if you complete the beta tester requirements. So, it is $2,500 instead of $4,000. Unfortunately the beta is delayed until August.
If Apollo gets the build quality right on this one, they're definitely going to turn me from a hater to a fanboy. I'd take this for days over a GT2. The design is so clever.
I haven't watched the final cut of the video yet, so I don't know if this made it in there, but I jumped it off of the loading dock at ESG to check the frame strength! The scooter came out of it perfect. My neck, not so much! -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide lol I definitely want to see that. I get the feeling from a lot of commenters on Reddit that they just don't get what this scooter is for. It's for me, dammit!
Reddit is so weird. I feel like the m365 and Ninebot Max are the only scooters that forum has ever liked. ESG (Chuck) is the founder of that subreddit, by the way. We have very little influence over what happens there though. Others moderate, not us. -Paul
Great review and video. A pleasure to watch and build on the excitement. I’ve, been contacted by Apollo to be a “Beta Tester”. I’m, very excited! Over, the last 10yrs, a series of “Brain Surgeries”🤕, other procedures and a subsequent Stroke on the Operating Table: having to progress from a Wheelchair->Walker->Walker/Cane->unassisted, twice, now. Since then, it’s left me with residual visual deficits and complications. These, prevent me from driving, ever again and ended both of my Careers, as a Firefighter and EMT. “The System”, won’t even give me a “Disability Bus Pass”, though. So, I’ve turned to the “e-scooter, as my primary, mode of Transportation. This, whole prospect and product, have me, pretty excited.
Very appealing I like the illumination and the portability, easy to carry onto a bus or load into a vehicle! At 72 running the 12 miles to my friends house is getting more difficult after work all other forms transportation to her house either cost more than I want to spend or take almost as long as running there, the only other thing to consider is Fridays I make a trip that is 19 miles is it able to make a 40 mile loop on one charge? A lot more to the story but already too long! thanks for the info.
It would be dicey going 40 miles in one charge unless you are on flat ground going 15mph. I think it’s also a little large for carrying onto a bus. In a pinch, you could do it, but it’s 95.6lbs. -Paul
The rider weight limit is 330lbs. (sorry, the stats we always include in our videos somehow got left out on this one. They will all be in the web-version of the review on our site). It will climb pretty much any hill, but if you were in a race against the world's fastest hill climbers... Out of the 121 scooters we've hill-climb tested this comes in 21st, just behind the Wolf Warrior 11 and Wolf Warrior X GT. -Paul
So weird. The video editor left out pretty much all of the specs we usually put on screen! 1560 Watt-hours, 21700 cells (was in the script but got cut). Historically Apollo has used Dynavolt cells which aren't Samsung or LG, but are the next best thing. I assume they're using Dynavolt here as well. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Really appreciate the fast reply! No problem makes sense you usually cover those things. This was my fear, yes Dynavolt is good but at this price point I expect great, Samsung, Panasonic or LG's should be used. Even from a marketing standpoint name brand cells would establish more prestige for the product. That is a decent battery size though i'll give them that!
I was speaking with some BMS engineers recently and they were telling me that with the right BMS almost any battery can be made super safe. Of course, that's what BMS engineers would say, but it stuck with me. I'm curious to see the long term advantage of Apollo's smart BMS. We almost never talk about BMS, but maybe this is the beginning. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide That would be awesome, even if you did seperate 'deep dive' episodes some more tech specs and digging around would go a long way for some of us
Another comment I’d make is that for the money - I’d have expected a bit more range? Of course that comes with weight… but 30-odd real world miles seems low-ish to me.
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Agreed. For me personally they both need more range for money to consider buying over Nami et-al - even though they’re admittedly different offerings. Thanks again for your great content. Look forward to the next one Paul. Love your work. 👍🏼👊🏼👏
Very sad to see you go, Ethan! You're a great presenter/reviewer. Please keep us posted on your new adventures if you can. I especially liked this video review. Looks like an awesome scooter!
It's crazy we're living in times where a 42mph scooter's not really considered all that fast. And its 0-30 speed is kinda on the "slow" side. I just ordered a Wolf King GT Pro and honestly, I don't think I'll ever have the cajones to try to hit top speed. I'm also a little chicken about the 0-30 speed the Wolf in mode 4 or 5 lol. 42's still super quick for normal non suicidal people. And the 7.9 0-30 here would still be pretty good. Maybe not blistering fast, but it also wouldn't make the tires chirp and the front one go airborne for a moment either. This looks like an awesome scooter, I love how your phone can become the screen, if Apollo lets you customize what's on the display it would be extra sweet.
My Apollo Phantom V2 60V goes 43mph but the speed isn't for racing. In my opinion...it's dangerous to ride in the streets if you can't keep up with the flow of traffic light to light. Not every road has a bike lane or sidewalk and that's when at least 35mph of speed is needed to flow with traffic. I'd say going over 60mph on a scooter is about the limit cuz any accident at that speed can be fatal
@@lamar310 While I agree about the speed on streets with no bike lane. I'd think if a cop wanted to pull you over for riding down a normal street like a car you'd probably end up losing your scooter. Or at least get a huge ticket. I know at least in So Cal they don't care about if you speed on a scooter in a bike lane. I don't know how they'll react to me flying 45 on my Wolf King down a non bike lane road lol. Hopefully they'd let me go with a stern warning.
Yeah that's my issue with it too, the 0-30 for this price point. GT2 is 3.9s. I wish they would change that before release. at least add a boost mode that run for a short duration.
Sorry to hear about your other scooter! You're going to love the Pro. It's one of my all time favorites right now, and I can't wait to see the app when it has full light and sound control! -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Thank you Paul, and it’s alright, I really put the scooter through the ringer. I was avoiding it, but ultimately knew that it was going to happened one day. Maybe the Beta Announcement is a sign. Thank you guys for the great videos and reviews!
Thank you for watching and commenting! This whole comments section is the best. I'm supposed to be taking the day off today, but can't stop reading these great comments. Makes it all worthwhile! -Paul
You keep saying it's slow but To me 40mph is enough lol, heck I'm happy @30mph, it's comfortable on a commute! Thanks for the first showing, going back to your Vista video I asked questions that still need answers, I'd appreciate if you'd go back to answer, thanks! 🎉
On a scooter, I almost never want to go faster than 40mph. Mitchell reviewed the Vista. I've been so deep into the Apollo Pro that I didn't get a chance to ride the Vista yet! I'll let him know you have questions! -Paul
The look of this scooter is quite appealing. I like it a lot more than the Kaabo Wolf and even more than the new Segways. Better looking than everything else available. Appears to have an amazing build quality. Love the water resistance. Love the optional SIM alarm / GPS. Love the beta test program. Love the regen brake system (and brake system in general). Love the large wheels/tires and self healing quality. Love the lights. Definitely not a fan of the phone being used as a display. Last thing I need is a dropped/broken cellphone because my scooter doesn't have its own display, and I don't need to be worried about my cellphone battery in relation to my scooter operation. How well does the headlight work at night? Regarding the piece of rubber used for suspension at the back: I'm wondering if it might degrade after exposure to the elements (freezing temperatures, water, excessive heat, etc.) or even just continued use? Hopefully this is a window into the quality of future scooter builds from most companies. Also, let's hope that as we make progress that the price comes WAY down. I'm not a fan of the price tag, even though I certainly understand it. As always, a well done and informative review!
The headlight is pretty good. It appears to be similar to the Phantom. Maybe 900 lumens. Not as good as the Wolf Warrior or NAMI scooters, but you're also not going as fast. The rubber on Dualtrons definitely gives more on hotter days. This is a pretty large piece and I like that it's under compression and not under tension. I'll bet i twill hold up for a long time. There is a basic dot matrix display when the phone isn't in place. I checked out all of the angles and the phone won't ever contact the ground unless you completely invert the scooter. -Paul
No doubt it looks dope and it has some super innovative ideas! I wish it had some type of internal steering damper just to add to the safety/stability especially at 40+ MPH
Oh, good call out. It feels like it has some drag, but I'm not sure if it's just bearings or something designed to slow down the steering! That would have been really good for me to ask them and address in this video. Thanks so much for commenting. Comments like these literally improve the next video. -Paul
Yes! It literally took me this long to make this video. It's such an important scooter I wanted to make sure to get the data right! I've got two more reviews filmed coming out right behind this one! -Paul
That’s very close to Ramier’s weight. He has done a whole series on scooters for heavier riders. I’ve pasted the latest one below. It really depends, of course, on what you need the scooter to do. If you don’t care about portability then bigger is better. When we did the hill climb challenge:165lb rider vs 235lb rider, the larger scooters almost didn’t care who was riding them :-) But if you also need portability and hill climbing power then it gets harder. I’d check out our hill climb video too. Also pasted here -Paul th-cam.com/video/dqJyyWeYeTA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-qRwm2d8CBBvi25n th-cam.com/video/QKz2xZUZbZ8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hz6kE1hXntAV8gQR
@@JohnSmith-bn7bl in that case: Solar P1 Pro for performance per dollar. Teewing Mars XTR for insane performance and tech, Wolf King GT Pro (more rideable than the GTR and a better deal). Roadrunner RX7 is amazingly equipped but more expensive. Emove Roadster is price is no object. Apollo Pro is an ultra-refined high tech ride that doesn’t feel like it’s trying to kill you (all of the others on this list sometimes can feel that way if you turn them all the way up!) Segway GT2 shouldn’t be overlooked. Great tech, low price lately but shorter range. Check out the electric scooter guide website. All of our data is searchable on the ridefinder. Great video. I picked up my Apollo Pro 2023 today. One thing I noticed is that on Pg. 13 in the manual, it states that there’s a hook on the front stem when folded to lock at the end of the deck. That hook or clip on the stem does not exist which made me confused. I know in your video it did state that the scooter will not be able to be clip to the back stem.
interesting choice with the drum brakes, time will tell as to whether this was a good design choice especially given the market for this level of product almost certainly (at least currently) all demand Hydraulic Disk...
Nice overview video! Re the beta program, I was selected a couple of days ago. Still considering whether or not the benefits for both parties is appropriately aligned/balanced. For example, beta testers come in two main categories... 1) The technical/Engineering/e-whatever experienced, and 2) Everyone else, including eScooter advocates, influencers, etc. Apollo benefits from input from both groups, and the beta testers should, of course, include testers from the entire spectrum of e-scooter riders. However, if Apollo is looking for input from a more technical/engineering perspective, I would suggest they consider bifurcating the terms and conditions for each group - to better balance benefit being provided to both parties. Looking forward to seeing this one hit the market!
@@ROBB_DEEP I chose not to accept the terms of the beta test program, namely the price - basically, just a presale and presale prices. This thing will never sell for the "Suggested MSRP"... Way over priced when compared to other reputable scooters that have better specs all around.
@@Allthingsreviewed-e4v What would be the sweet spot for a good price on this V6 Pro? I see where their Black Friday sale would bring down the price to just under $3400. It's tempting to me at that price, I just don't know enough about Apollo's customer service reputation, to trust that big of a purchase to chance.
I think it's a little pricey at $4k, but I do like everything about it. Particularly nice that you can track and remotely lock it "just in case," and that it has wireless phone charging. One thing you didn't mention is how does a phone stay attached? I didn't see you put straps or anything around it to keep it attached when moving.
Thanks so much! We have had the *toughest* time getting our hands on a Bronco of any kind. I just need 30 minutes and a full charge so I can do some speeeeed runs! I don't know if it's ever going to happen, but we'll keep trying. It almost feels like some scooter companies don't want us to test their scooters cough cough Rion cough cough. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Mate that’s brilliant. Thanks for the reply! I’ve literally watched every review you guys have done. There are NO English reviews on the Vnoms! Such a shame really. I wonder why? They seem like a solid scooter.
Since you mentioned the range test was mostly aggressive riding, Just out of curiosity, do you guys think it would be possible to get 90kms of range out of the scooter if riding at about 50 km/hour and on relatively flat ground? Asking since they mention "up to 100km of range" on their website
Definitely not at 50km/hour. You'd need to be going about 25km/hr to get close to that range on flat ground. It's pretty typical for manufacturers to quote max range which is usually at 12 to 15 mph and also typical for us to get 50 to 60% of that. -Paul
I keep coming back to this review by Paul as I hope to be one of the first owners of the Pro down under come this Aussie Spring and summer (September - February) Cannot wait…. it’s going to be worth EVERY cent, I work hard for the money, so hard for the money. No doubt I’ll be the ‘coolest’ looking 40 something year old riding my mid-life crisis luxury man toy!
Which I had seen this video before today. That scooter is gorgeous. I just bought the Segway GT1. It’s very comfortable. My only problem would be that it is very big and doesn’t look as cool. It looks like a commercial scooter u rent on downtown somewhere. My other issue is that in sports/race mode. The range is only like 19 miles. Which isn’t as practical for riding to work. I love the inmotion RS. It’s fast and looks great! The price point though is more than my current budget.
The unibody design of it rocks but that's about it. I'm not sure it's going to be worth the $4,000 pricetag given that it's slower than other escooters you can get costing half that much, both off the line and top speed. I don't really have a problem with anything with it except the price to performance ratio with it's high price. I even don't mind that it doesn't have disc brakes, given that the dedicated regen brake on it is reportedly very good. Then of course we also have to deal with the elephant in the room, Apollo's very poor customer service. Unless they can really ramp that up soon. Not many will be happy buying a $4K scooter that they can't even get support for.
This was going to be my next scooter, but not anymore. Using drums instead of disc's was frustrating, but that tiny deck made it worse, and that awful non-existent rear suspension certified it a no go for me. In this video, you can see the scooter has a very sharp upward angle and when that very light human was bouncing on it...........nothing. No travel, no dampening. Not sure how big his feet are, but they absorb all the space on the deck. Oh well, my hope lies with the Ghost V3.
My feet are US size 9.5 and I weigh 165lbs but right after me, we see Ramier's feet. He's about 6' 3" tall with correspondingly large feet. He also does most of the riding in the video. I hope you get a chance to experience one in person, because to me the deck feels big, and I'm fussy about small decks (the Vsett 10+ feels cramped, but this doesn't). But the Ghost is pretty great too, and a great value! -Paul
Currently riding a Dualtron City and loving it. The Apollo Pro looks like it has all the features I wish my City had. I will almost certainly be buying the Pro but not till Spring of next year when the bugs are worked out.
Great video! I'm thinking of getting a scooter as a graduation gift for possible future commute and fun. The Pro seems like a great option, but it may be too expensive for me. Do you think it's really worth an extra $2000+ over the City Pro or Phantom? Is there one of these three (or another brand/model) that you would recommend? Thanks!
Any 3 would be great for most commutes but the pro just adds luxury, features and more technology then the other 2! But you will not be disappointed with any of them. -Vosk
Paul, love your reviews..but one thing you never seem to touch on is the handling of the scooter-as in corner carving ability, lean angle...all things that I am interested in having ridden a motorcycle so many years..how is the cornering on the Max g2 vs. the Apollo PRo?
I've been chasing issues with my City Pro drum brakes, they will constantly slacken on their own and I will only notice when I need them. I'm on the cusp of selling it, really hasn't lived up to the reviews imo.
This doesn't sound normal. The cables really shouldn't need adjusting very often unless the cable itself is breaking. Check up near the lever end (in the gap that opens as you pull the lever) and make sure the cable isn't starting to fray. It's rare, but can happen if the cable is rubbing up against the edge of the housing (the chrome cap at the end of the housing, more specifically). -Paul
Great looking scooter! Wonder if we'll be able to get it in the EU. Nice they keep the weight below 50kg aswell, the Segway GT-series is just too much vehicle for a standup scooter IMHO.
I wish it did not cost so much. and would be at a price where all scooters riders would have a opportunity to purchase one. But the scooters top-of-the-line no doubt.
Very good point. That's normally true, and I wish that were the case here, but I wasn't reaching the limits of traction on the front end, and the rear contributes a much smaller amount to the braking. I'll bet I'd shave off an inch or two with the road tires, but I think an update with more regen at the upper limit would shorten things up by a foot. -Paul
90+ lbs and no deck latch? Come on. I one arm my ghost up 3 flights of stairs and it would nice to have the option to at least lift by the stem with 2 hands rather than wide grip.
I ride an emove cruiser and live in a city where riding a scooter is significantly more convenient than driving to work. My #1 complaint is that the emove cruiser has questionable build quality as I’ve broken the rear-wheel bracket multiple times. The Segway GT2 seemed like the obvious upgrade as a real commuter but this video puts things into question for me. It seems that GT2s are being sold for about $3200. Is the Apollo pro $800 better than the GT2? I would love a comparison video of these two as I’m shopping these two the same way I’d be comparing cars.
this is the future, and I'm excited! i love my niu kqi2 pro for similar reasons: it just feels sleek, cool, and futuristic. this seems like an evolution of that feeling. might be my next upgrade!
I currently have a Dualtron City. Ive been searching for another escooter similar to my City this Apollo Pro is very similar.. same weight, big tires, same price, same speed/range. but the Pro has more bells and whistles. The blinkers, the sounds, and the design 😍

Paul’s great, but chuck was an amazing fit for this channel. It’s sad he left without explanation.
@@jeffbill we still miss Chuck! -Paul
I wouldn't say this is a hyper scooter because the word Hyper more correlates to fast or speed just like Hypercars that prioritizes speed than luxury. The Apollo Pro is more of a Luxury scooter, you could also say its Apollo's Lexus.
I agree. Definitely a Lexus. -Paul

Nice one!
(water rating hasn't changed, but it gives me more confidence in thw water number when the dust number is higher too) -Paul
we will never get reliable electric cars or scooters on lithium its too volitile for it too last for a long time it degrades too fast...
I’m looking forward to the day when IP67 is the norm. Only then i will be comfortable riding in the rain!
That’s just retarded. No car or motorcycles are IP67 rated, why are you expecting an electric scooter to have it?
Love the channel and all your reviews!!
Can't help but notice that we were told that you couldn't show Quad Lock @ 7:33
But we can clearly see their Quad Lock in POV cam @ 12:01
👀
@OCR10 there’s a firmware update? Where is the new horn feature? My GT2 says I’m up to date and I see electronic brake but I don’t see anything else.

-Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Hey there Paul. Could you say what the voltage is 52 or 60 and what is the battery size

Hey Paul, Can you tell me what level of speed drop did you see on a hill climb…flat ground versus the climb?
For the hill climb, I start from a dead stop. It will go 30mph+ up most hills. -Paul
Do we know what the motor wattages are yet in the final model?
Hey Paul, Do you know how long in inches the Apollo Pro is from tip to tail?
Paul, do you have plans to check the hill performance of the 2023 Pro? I am 225 lbs and have a few 12 degree hills to get home on but don’t want the speed to drop off to like 6mph on the hill. I want to get the Pro but am concerned the the 12 inch wheels might rob the climb ability. Thanks for all the great vids!
Very clean design, not busy or cluttered like some sort of robotic insect, probably the best looking atm imo. Seems like it should offer better acceleration for the price. Also I'd personally like to see more graphs/data comparing all the scooters tested (in similar class) something like:
0-30, braking 15-0, weight, hillclimb, top speed, and range test on highest mode.

Outstanding Performance where it counts.

It might not be what us Scooter Nuts wanted.
But it’s what we needed.
Wow! Very well said. I think this is one of the most impressive (and frustrating) things about Apollo. They insist on giving us what we need, knowing that it's not the stuff headlines are made of! It's much easier to make videos about: "Fastest Scooter Ever!" than "5 years from now you'll be glad you have one of the best BMS to ever be used in a production scooter" :-)
But in the long run, it's really good for the scooter industry when someone like Apollo makes a scooter that's not disposable!

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Looking forward to it.
This is the first scooter that's made me consider switching to a 1 car family with a scooter as the second vehicle. I'd be interested to see what the real world range is on it. Apollo tends to under promise and over deliver, which I love. I just don't know whether they have done that here as well or not.
Should be an amazing scooter! -Vosk
I really wish they had some way to use a bike lock to secure the scooter if you need to go into a store or something while out and about.
Why is your lock so easy to defeat?"
I have this vision of cities having anchor-points installed in the sidewalk, and then scooters could drop anchor into the anchor points.
Up to the owner to choose a lock.

this is a great vid keep working hard and teaching people more about e scooters ❤ lots of love
I like it, it is beautiful. However, I still do not like the awkward positive rake or higher front end suspension compared to the rear.
I expect that may change by the time they get to production. On the other hand, while it doesn't look as nice as when a scooter is riding perfectly level, I feel like scooters feel better jumping off of curbs and braking if they have a little bit of a "Carolina Squat" to them. -Paul
I have been advocating for 12+ inch wheel+tires for years. It is about time the volume is going to pick up.
Let’s go! -Paul

What's the discount on the beta compared to the CAD $5200 projected priced on their site?

Thanks for the kind words! Enjoy the beta program and stay safe.
-Paul
Thanks, guess I would have to find a place to charge it, something to think about!
How much weight might it take, and does this rate against others up steep hill's?
The rider weight limit is 330lbs. (sorry, the stats we always include in our videos somehow got left out on this one. They will all be in the web-version of the review on our site). It will climb pretty much any hill, but if you were in a race against the world's fastest hill climbers... Out of the 121 scooters we've hill-climb tested this comes in 21st, just behind the Wolf Warrior 11 and Wolf Warrior X GT. -Paul
Would be good if you guys talked a bit more about batteries, cell brand, kwh etc is pretty important choice for many
Another comment I’d make is that for the money - I’d have expected a bit more range? Of course that comes with weight… but 30-odd real world miles seems low-ish to me.
The one that surprises me even more is the GT2 because it's 20lbs heavier and within 1 mile of the same range as the Pro. -Paul

Very sad to see you go, Ethan! You're a great presenter/reviewer. Please keep us posted on your new adventures if you can. I especially liked this video review. Looks like an awesome scooter!
Hey! Who is Ethan ?
Very cool! Thanks for sharing. -Vosk

The Pro has been tested to last 10k km wich is years of operation the phone deck will have an induction charging function.
-Paul
@powerpopjoey - You wrote "optional SIM alarm / GPS." It's not optional, it's built-in with the new MACH2 Controller.

-Paul
Apollo had some of the most CLEANEST escooter
Agreed they look like Wayne tech 😅
So fresh and so clean clean! (I wish we could get away with using that song) -Paul
Paul's back A+++
He sure this! Paul is our MVP. -Vosk
Yes! It literally took me this long to make this video. It's such an important scooter I wanted to make sure to get the data right! I've got two more reviews filmed coming out right behind this one!
-Paul
I could see that in the back of the cyber truck. Looks great
It sure does! Thanks for stopping by. -Vosk
good afternoon the scooter is very cool. The design is chic.
Thank you! We agree! -Paul
I just got picked for the beta testing ride. It should be here soon. 😊
Hope you enjoy it! Let us know how it goes. -Vosk
excellent review. i just emailed their CS to ask when it will ship out. i am ready to pull the trigger!
Very cool! Use code RIDERGUIDE for $50 off
Owner of Apollo air, I have made my down payment for the pro! Thanks!
That’s awesome! Enjoy your new ride. It’s an amazing machine. -Vosk
Same. I am hooked
this is a nice scooter thanks Paul... best scooter for heavier riders? 112kg?.
That’s very close to Ramier’s weight. He has done a whole series on scooters for heavier riders. I’ve pasted the latest one below. It really depends, of course, on what you need the scooter to do. If you don’t care about portability then bigger is better. When we did the hill climb challenge:165lb rider vs 235lb rider, the larger scooters almost didn’t care who was riding them :-)
But if you also need portability and hill climbing power then it gets harder. I’d check out our hill climb video too. Also pasted here

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thanks and much appreciated. Portability not required.
@@JohnSmith-bn7bl in that case:
Solar P1 Pro for performance per dollar.
So you can see how far I rode on each, under the same conditions. -Paul
3:36 springs can come in both linear and progressive variants. The rubber is just different, not necessarily better.
Thanks for stopping by! Updated review coming soon. -Vosk
Cleaning it with a garden hose is such a nice feature
For sure! -Paul
Thanks for the kind words! -Vosk
Feeling like selling my phantom and getting the pro. Only thing is I'm is Australia and it'll probably take ages pt get here
Yes, definitely wait on selling the Phantom. The Beta program is North America only and the production units won’t be out until some time in Q3. -Paul
interesting choice with the drum brakes, time will tell as to whether this was a good design choice especially given the market for this level of product almost certainly (at least currently) all demand Hydraulic Disk...
The dedicated regen brake is a game changer! -Vosk
Awesome! Enjoy your new ride. -Vosk
Congrats! Since you were selected a couple of weeks ago, when will you receive the 🛴 to review it? 🤔
@@ROBB_DEEP I chose not to accept the terms of the beta test program, namely the price - basically, just a presale and presale prices. This thing will never sell for the "Suggested MSRP"... Way over priced when compared to other reputable scooters that have better specs all around.
@@Allthingsreviewed-e4v Oh, ok. 🤝🏾
Back to the future scooter, niceeeee
Thanks Paul, good information about the Pro. I always enjoy your videos !
My pleasure! -Paul
Night Shoots of those lights.. reminds me of Leqi Smart A8
Would you recommend upgrading over my city pro?
It’s a very big upgrade! -Vosk
Apollo make the best looking scooters out there, and this is their best so far, the only thing I miss is their hexagonal display
This seriously looks even better in person. It's really striking how different it looks from anything we've seen before! -Paul
Is the beta test group available in Australia?
No, unfortunately only in North America. -Paul
It’s a little pricey but you are getting tons of features and technology in a nice package. -Vosk
Excellent review Paul!
Any chance you could score a Bronco Vnom or Vnom Fury soon?! I’d love to see those reviewed.
I feel like some companies have great raw performance, but not the best distribution. -Paul
-Paul
The Apollo City Pro also has the regen brake
How could I forget! Good call out! -Paul
Have they improved their customer service?
They definitely did! They hired enough staff to meet all the demand and to optimize the costumer service experience. Thanks for stopping by. -Vosk
When will this be available to buy in the UK?
Should be end of year! -Vosk
Can't wait for it!
It’s a stunning scooter! -Vosk
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide looking forward to the beta!
Sweet! I wish I had more time to ride it! I'm definitely coming back to ride this more as soon as I can! -Paul
Since it doesn't seem super obvious, where are the charge ports located?
Near the neck area!
If you are going to spend 4k on a scooter I would get a wolf king or nami. This scooter looks cool but at 4k I’m wanting performance
Thanks for the feedback! -Vosk
Nice looking ride!
It sure is! Thanks for stopping by. -Vosk
Long term we will see how it goes! Looks very appealing to many people. -Vosk
That’s awesome! Hope you enjoy it. -Vosk
Both are solid at cornering!
Thank you for the review.
Glad it was helpful! -Vosk
Our pleasure! Thanks for stopping by. -Vosk
I've been chasing issues with my City Pro drum brakes, they will constantly slacken on their own and I will only notice when I need them.
I'm on the cusp of selling it, really hasn't lived up to the reviews imo.
Have you not been using the regen to brake ? -Vosk
That would be cool!
I expect that it will come to the EU, but I don't know for sure. The Beta units are North America only. -Paul
Very pricey, but most likely my favorite Scooter ! Thanks guys for your great review!
Our pleasure! -Vosk
Thanks so much! It's an absolute favorite at ESG now and I can't stop looking at it! -Paul
I wish it did not cost so much. and would be at a price where all scooters riders would have a opportunity to purchase one. But the scooters top-of-the-line no doubt.
I expect we’ll see some new less expensive options from Apollo by the end of the year too! -Paul
I think the brake length is more affected by the tire type. If it was street tires it would have more grip
Yes it will! Thanks for stopping by. -Vosk
-Paul
Overall I'm pretty satisfied one thing that I wish they have is more range. A hyper scooter that can go up to 92 mile range.
Cool! Thanks for sharing. -Vosk
So far, nothing we've tested will go quite that far even the 183 lb Dualtron X Limited only goes 86 miles. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Have you ever heard of an electric motorcycle ............ just sayin
What is the range?
32.2 miles -Paul
th-cam.com/video/3M1N4cOqBhc/w-d-xo.html
90+ lbs and no deck latch? Come on. I one arm my ghost up 3 flights of stairs and it would nice to have the option to at least lift by the stem with 2 hands rather than wide grip.
Thanks for the important feedback! -Vosk
We will have a comparison video in the future for sure! we love the Apollo pro. -Vosk
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide cannot wait!
this is the future, and I'm excited! i love my niu kqi2 pro for similar reasons: it just feels sleek, cool, and futuristic. this seems like an evolution of that feeling. might be my next upgrade!
I currently have a Dualtron City. Ive been searching for another escooter similar to my City this Apollo Pro is very similar.. same weight, big tires, same price, same speed/range. but the Pro has more bells and whistles. The blinkers, the sounds, and the design 😍
It’s a nice and day difference for sure!
