Just a suggestion, don’t have EVERY container of the colors that you have on the shelf. Yes, have maybe a half dozen, but not the whole inventory. The containers may be able to “walk” away, if it is to large a number to see what is on the shelf each day. I have worked retail. You would be surprised, has sticky fingers & many just pick things up for the “thrill”. That way, each day, you can see what is missing/sold. Then you can restock, with the back stock. I am excited to see the New Store.
It’s beautiful! Maybe adding lights to the unit where your glass will be will help showcase the colors and add paint vignettes or gift baskets of paint if you don’t have enough glass to fill up each square. The lights would also be good to leave on when your closed in case you’ve got people window shopping. You’ve got a special family unit! Such a treasure ❤
🍷WHITE shelves or different shades of your white cream paints inside each shelf box area you'd see all the pops of colored glass like a rainbow effect!! + it wont clash so much with your beautiful front desk (tying in the gray on the front facing pcs to match countertop)! 🌈I seen it done years ago & someone had the colored glass organized by pops of color in an arched cabinet & it was stunning. You all are SO HARDWORKING. I barely wanted to just do laundry today🤣 I love this series, can't wait for all the future shop video content !!!
That's a great idea. Of course, we haven't seen the finished display yet, but my initial thought was that the background should be light to show off the true colors of the glass.
Lauren, the massive wall unit you and your Dad built is fantastic ! As a suggestion for a backing for your display:glass items … you could make cutouts with different colors to fit into each section… or something to that effect- that would be a good backdrop color for whatever you display . Changeable by season even … a class challenge for ideas 💡 !! Possibilities are endless ❤😘
I love everything I have here that Daddy either made or that belonged to him. He had made me 3-4 bookshelves and I had them at a flea market about 30 minutes from here and the flea market closed down and I had no way to get my bookcases back home and I imagine they got demolished along with the flea market, which still upsets me, even though this was in the early 90's. But I have my memories. Oh gosh, I have my memories. I also have all his old paint brushes from when he painted houses as his 2nd job from 1965-199? His first job was as a career firefighter. You've given me an idea on what to do with all those paint brushes! They can't be used because they're old and brittle, like me! But I've been looking for a craft project to use them in a collage. Now I'm getting ideas. :) Gosh, Daddy would be 108 if he were still here. The best of luck to you today with your grand opening and I can't wait to hear the name!
….I love the shelf you and your father built, but in my honest opinion the backer board should have been the same color as the wall behind it. I hope I’m not offending you because that is not what I’m trying to do. GOOD LUCK WITH YOU FUTURE BUSINESS 😊😊😊
I don't know why I'm over here stressing lol that piece you and your dad did is beautiful everything is coming together can't wait to see the final reveal
I am so disappointed that I can't make it to the grand opening. An 8 hour drive one way just isn't doable right now but you can bet when we move next year I'll be making sure that we get to Omaha. Best of luck with the opening. So excited for you both. You are truly an inspiration.
You could put some peal and stick mirrors onto the back of a few of your shelves so your colored glass can really pop. Later on you can replace it with real mirrors cut to fit.
Not sure who is more excited, you... or me for you all lol, Waited up till gone midnight to catch this, really looking forward to seeing you open on the 4th, I've even got myself the afternoon off work so will be able to tune in.. GOOD LUCK!
Love it all.......looking good..........I was thinking a couple shelves with lighting and opaque plastic in front of the back light would show off your colored glass vases etc. Not all of them but a few might be eye catching! So excited for you all. Love that your family works together as does ours on these projects. Blessings and all the best!
How about lighting of some kind in the sections of the of the shelfing? Suggest it could make each piece more visible and translucent against the dark wood.
Hi Lauren, Hello Niemann, I love you energie and all the ideas. But one thing concerning the coloured glass. I think it need light to show the colours perfectly, so better to have white background or put shelfs before a window. The current shelf can show e.g. other staging objects. But go one and good start with the new business. Claudia from germany
I agree about the lightening. There was these lights you can get from Amazon that don’t need electricity. They stick in place. There’s a wide variety in there. That would work. Also I think lighter colors in the cabinet itself.…maybe wallpaper in random squares? The stained wood is beautiful, but I’m afraid it isn’t going to show the glass as well. I know Lauren will come up with a good idea!
You could install some simple lighting to show off your colored glass better since you went with a dark background. Even a strip of track lighting to shine down from above.
You may already be planning to do this, but I LOVE that the only store near me that carries furniture paint has small wooden boards with a sample of each color they carry, and then they top coat in sections with clear wax, black wax, white wax, matte clear coat, satin, and gloss. The whole reason I drive 30 minutes away is that I can see the true colors of the paint and how they look in all finishes. It’s so frustrating looking at colors online that look completely different in person and good furniture paint isn’t cheap. Plus, it shows customers different finishes they may not have considered. 😊
❤I love everything you do, but was also thinking all your beautiful glass might show up better with a white background… Or maybe just add lighting strips above each square to shine down through the glass… no matter how you do it, everything will be so beautiful! God bless!!🙏🏼🕊️😅 YOU CAN DO THIS!!! 💪🏼You’re almost finished!!✔️➕🎉🎉🎉
It'd be so charming & unique to drill on a wood sculpted arch piece to top of shelf built in that is "arched humps". Design you did when painting to blend the 2 white walls in the warehouse so you didn't have to paint so high to ceiling!🌈🌈🌈🌈
Just watching Lauren’s face lit up with excitement and happiness! I know how proud her family are and happy to help. Neiman is a man wearing MANY caps! It is a beautiful brick and mortar! SSSOOO much work and years of effort!
Hi Guys!! Really excited for you All! I was watching the assembly of the black wire rack and thought of sharing what I did with them. I picked up some Masonite Boards (got them cut to size at the store). I put them on each shelf to create a flat service, instead of items sitting directly on the wire shelf. Some items needed the flat surface to sit balanced(?) I guess is one way to explain. Anyway thought I'd mention this to you! Hope your store is up and running now! Best of luck! 11/26/2023 today.....
Love the teamwork! And all your helpers! I do think you will want a white backdrop to great unit you and your dad built! Or at least complementary colors. But you'll work it out. Looking great and so psyched for you to get the dream going! Cheering you on from NY!
I love your content and have really enjoyed watching you learn and teach while you're doing great things! Thanks for sharing so openly in the process and good luck with the opening!
Everything looks amazing. I’m in NC so it’s a bit far for me to be there but I sure wish I was able to be. The shelving unit is beautiful and looks even better than the shelves. Plus, you built it with your dad so you will always have it and the memory of building it together.
🎉Congratulations🎉, and may this new adventure be successful, exciting, and prosperous. Enjoy your time together, making memories. Much love to the both of you, even if I don't know you. ❤
Wow! So exciting! I am at the edge of my seat you guys! So happy for you and I am just dying to know the name of your storefront. I also love love the built in shelf and all of the natural wood tones you added in the store! Way to go! 🎉
So exciting to watch everything coming together. You have a wonderful family and crew working with you. Team work makes Dreams work! God bless all of you.
If your thrifted glass is going to be for sale, you may not want to have it behind your checkout area. For both security reasons and so shoppers feel free to look at them, pick the up, etc.
I am loving all of this and so happy for you guys💕🤗 But, I would have all my glass in front of the windows. And, paints for sale behind your desk. Sorry😩
you should paint the entire shelf unit white. the dark wood competes with the rainbow glass colors. plus, the stain looks AWFUL - it's super zebra striped and gross.
Just a suggestion, don’t have EVERY container of the colors that you have on the shelf. Yes, have maybe a half dozen, but not the whole inventory. What a great tip!
I agree 💯
I second that I even do this at home in my pantry having run stockrooms in the past it makes it easier to do stock take just put a system in place
I too worried about “walk away” inventory
The old saying less is more. Easier to see the colour you want, also the more there is people will mix up the stock looking for the colour they want.
My thoughts exactly.
yes you can get a variety of stick up lights that operate by battery that could go under a few shelves to light up the glass :)
🍷WHITE shelves or different shades of your white cream paints inside each shelf box area you'd see all the pops of colored glass like a rainbow effect!! + it wont clash so much with your beautiful front desk (tying in the gray on the front facing pcs to match countertop)!

I love so much how involved your family is! There's at least 5000 of us who think you're really awesome but now we know a few more.
Love the custom shelving unit, but your thrifted glass will show up much better against a lighter color backdrop. Just a thought.
Good Luck!👍
….I absolutely agree
Maybe later on some light coloured peel and stick paper could be added to get the effect she wants since this was a plan B.
The shelves just need to be lit, glass with light shining through is beautiful on a dark background

You can tell who really ❤s you...they are always there to help you out❣
The shelving unit is so beautiful and special because your dad made it with you.

Your parents must be so very proud of you; your abilities and all your acomplishments.
I liked it opened, I think your glass would show so much better😊
If the background of shelves was white then all the glassware would pop.
Wow dont know where you get your energy from. Your all working so hard. Its all coming together. ❤😊
Use some removable wallpaper in random squares for a little pop of design and color to give contrast you the darker bottles!
….I love the shelf you and your father built, but in my honest opinion the backer board should have been the same color as the wall behind it. I hope I’m not offending you because that is not what I’m trying to do. GOOD LUCK WITH YOU FUTURE BUSINESS 😊😊😊
That border on top of the cabinets was a real game changer! They LOOK GEAT!
I don't know why I'm over here stressing lol that piece you and your dad did is beautiful everything is coming together can't wait to see the final reveal

Some sort of lighting with the glass will help the colors pop!
Like the coloured glass against the dark background - looks moody and sophisticated! Good luck guys.
It would look awesome if the background of each shelf was painted a color to help bring out your glass collection.
Lauren you rock
You could put some peal and stick mirrors onto the back of a few of your shelves so your colored glass can really pop. Later on you can replace it with real mirrors cut to fit.
Your Barbie dresser is going out in the show room, isn’t she? Someone will want her! 😆 Congrats on all your hard work. I wish you well.
You & dad made a great shelf however Background on shelf is too dark for the glass
Not sure who is more excited, you... or me for you all lol, Waited up till gone midnight to catch this, really looking forward to seeing you open on the 4th, I've even got myself the afternoon off work so will be able to tune in.. GOOD LUCK!

Beautiful shelving unit. Definitely agree with others that you could add lights to highlight the glass. 😊

Can't wait to see this all come together, but better than that to come see it in person when the door is finally open! ♥️👷♀️⚒️
How lucky for you. I’m sure he it’ll be fantastic.
I'm thinking maybe getting ur top favorite colors of paint and painting each section of ur custom shelving.😊
Yes…that would look great!
I just love you two (and mom and dad and nana!) Toi Toi Toi!! ❤🎉😊❤🎉😊
Soooooooo exciting 😊 This is what you were both born to do 🩷💙

Left and right just wood panel to align with the top
Of the shelf and window frame datum

Looking good. Stay energized.
You guys have put your heart and soul into this adventure and I wish you all the best!

I love the color of the cabinets. I can't say that I love the brackets on the shelves.
they're necessary to brace the unit to the wall
you should paint the entire shelf unit white. the dark wood competes with the rainbow glass colors. plus, the stain looks AWFUL - it's super zebra striped and gross.
Everything is looking awesome, that back board on that shelf made it pop 😀👍❤️❤️❤️
Lauren you have noooo business being that THICK! hahha it's the gray leggings with the boots! 😂😂❤❤
not too sure what to think of this bahahaha
I think the white background would have made the colorful glassware show up so much better. It kind of disappears on the dark shelves...
The under shelving is a great idea. I’m thinking I want that in my kitchen.
Great job! You guys have grown so much.Great success. 😊😊 I'm glad you found someone willing to help. This is amazing!
U GUYS DID AN AMAZING JOB ON THAT BIG SHELF..U HAVE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SUPORT SYSTEM!!! YAYYYYY...😊 THXS FOR SHAREING CANT WAIT TIL UR NEXT VIDEO ❤😊
