If the processor is an R10K - which I think it might be looking at the motherboard, you can only have one hard disk, so the missing slot may be entirely intentional. You've got a complete bargain there, even allowing for the rust. The fact it's getting as far as it is is likely to mean Irix is on the hard drive too. RAM is completely custom yes, if you're lucky you can get some for a reasonable price off ebay but considering Irix is the only OS you're likely to run on it that's not a huge issue (NetBSD still supports it, possibly Linux can still be persuaded to do so, OpenBSD dropped support a while ago)
it says the processor is a R5000, not sure yet but i think i have some issues with the cache, i need to investigate more, but the hardware diagnostics fail, at least it does something so it has potential! and yeah my idea is only to run Irix, i can run other stuff in any other hardware i have around. im still really happy about this computer!
