These attacks are created every day by bad actors. The only way to keep yourself safe is to keep yourself and others educated on these threats. Stay safe, and stay prepared guys.
Great info! These scammers are getting more and more scary. I've fortunately gotten my parents trained to contact me first if they see anything remotely out of the norm and none of us answer the phone if we don't recognize the caller, if it's important, they'll leave a message.
thanks Digital! At this point I don't even answer my phone except for close friends and immediate family. and have seen those weird texts.. a couple times I got the weird "Oprah" one. On Twitter I was getting those weird IG link ones. No clicky.
Great info! This is a really big issue. I'm also hearing about text messages with links that when clicked on, can download a virus to your phone. We are going to have to stay hypervigilante!
I knew EXACTLY what you were talking about. I hate these scams and scammers. I'll be sharing this to whoever I can, I'd hate for anyone to get caught by any of these!
I heard that some of the Indian call centers do train the scammers working there to sound more "American", and sometimes they hire people in America as well! It's insane

Agreed, answering them (even if just to screw with them) with your real number just makes them more likely to spread your number to other scammers

Yea, they're really bad now, I get at LEAST 4-5 calls a day with some scam stuff.
You covered the best defense: just don't answer any calls from an unknown number.
