  • January 2024 update. Having bought Peco PL10 second hand point motors with a shortened pin, I tried, without success to add an extended pin from a kit. This didn’t work for me and so I took the decision to by some new point motors. The Gaugemaster PM2 looked a good choice at a good price and so I installed these instead. Having already bought toggle switches, I adapted a key press (the Range) and house the Capacitor Discharge Unit and toggle switches.

Hi Anthony. Tip: Just before snipping the control rod, cover the pin with a piece of cloth to stop the off-cut from flying anywhere - especially into your eye!

    Hi Anthony.
Not sure with the Gaugemaster units but with my Peco units I have one push button spring loaded momentary switch in the circuit to the switch panel.
Peco point motors don’t like being continuously powered, they burn out.
I move the turn out switches then push the button.
    Cheers Peter.

Hi Peter, yeah there is an option to have a switch on the Gaugemaster PM1 I think but I wanted a separate control panel. Cheers buddy

Hi Anthony great job on the wiring. Theres something very satisfying about watching shrink tubing shrink😅. Those switch motors look simple , do they cost much?

Hi Jerry, thanks for your kind comments, the motors cost about £4.95 so around 6 dollars so not too bad. Take care buddy

I'm Irish and content myself with complaining about Irish people who have the radio on like that, when I'm in the mood.
