Have tried so many different “cheap” and not-so-cheap socks in my life. I’m currently looking for really good running, working out, camping/hiking, and sort of everyday socks for myself and my gf. I really like Darn Tough hiking socks (that extra padding and warranty!!), and your review makes me really want to try out Bombas and Icebreakers. Thanks for a nice, to-the-point, and thorough review.
The one thing about Bombas socks is that they do tend to shrink a bit if you wash/dry often with medium to high heat. I learned that I need to buy a size up. But I still have Bombas socks from 5 years ago and they still look and feel great.
Yes good point! I normally dry on low heat and haven't noticed much shrinkage in my socks, but I have found the toddler socks do seem to get smaller (unless my kid's feet are just growing super fast haha).
i have been wearing low socks my whole life but i have never had a wool ankle sock before. usually i wear no show socks with a light breathable fabric. might try some of these for winter!
I left Bombas for Darn Tough because Darn Tough is made in USA. Bombas are made in Chjna. Darn Tough has a sock that the entire profit goes to a Vermont food pantry. Their customer service is top notch.
I’m going to switch to darn tough especially if they are made in America. Bombas has really disappointed me. Nothing but holes in the toes in all my socks. It’s great they give a sock away to the needy for each sold but come on you can’t charge what your charging for some cheap made and cheapest material socks made in China!!
Thanks for the review. I’m shopping for good camping/trekking/hunting socks and this helped. Also made me think about just swapping out all my socks but in time because that would cost a small fortune 😂
I use the icebreaker ski+ light and medium in snowy cold winter here, happy with them. A local store has huge discounts atm so I ordered some of their Multisport Light Micro, Hike UL Liner, Hike+ light and medium for the summer, hope they will be as good as the ski+. How are your icebreaker socks holding up after years?
When it rains my feet get wet. I find that Smartwool socks take much longer to dry than some of the others. Otherwise very comfortable but would not take then on anything longer than a day hike.
Sounds like you need a better waterproof shoe! Thanks for sharing your experience though - like I said, I never actually bought Smartwool because I did not like their website/ordering experience.
Thanks for the video, very well done. I do have a question...when I go to the Bombas page and look for the Tri Blocks ankle socks the only ones it brings up are made of 76% cotton, not wool. They look like the ones you showed but no wool. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place?
Haha thank you!! I actually just use water! Rinse my face in the morning, rinse at night - just with water in the sink. I never put soap or anything on it. I'll occasionally put a very light/all natural lotion (earth mama) on it in the winter when it feels really dry (like after a shower).
Oh bummer! Have you found a sock you like better? So far I’ve had them 6 months and they are in great shape but I’ll see how they look in another 6 months
The Darn Tough are the thickest, so they are the warmest. But if you're looking for a really warm sock, I'd look for a crew cut. Being an ankle/low-cut sock, none of them will keep your ankles warm in very cold weather.
A aerospace engineer that reviews socks as a mom. Love it.
Im a chemist, now i watch goats as a Shepard lol
Yesss loved the review. I majored in computer info systems, and I’m a musician as well lol quite a difference!

Ya that's a great point!

Thank you for the excellent review! I don’t see anyone else on here with a direct comparison on bombas vs darn tough
You're welcome!
Appreciate your thoroughness. Cheers!
Darn tough looks best for me. USA.. Merino wool has always been a go to material for my work..

Yes! I'm slowly swapping mine out as my old ones get holes.

Off Topic: What the heck is your skin care regimen!? You look so super young!

😂 I was wondering the same thing. I'm like wow her skin looks flawless
Haha thank you! I also don't wear any makeup so maybe that helps?! And lots of sun in the summer!
Thank you very much for this video.
Puma’s from Costco! I recognize those 😂
Love this review! Thank you
Thank you! Let me if you have any questions!
We love the bombas wool socks too but they are thread bare in the heel in less than a year :(
Oh bummer! Have you found a sock you like better? So far I’ve had them 6 months and they are in great shape but I’ll see how they look in another 6 months
Nice job!
Thank you for the info I did purchase Bombas
Great!
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Are the Bombas the "running" or "performance" versions of the socks?
Thank you.
Bombas warranty is single use… that’s not even close to being a lifetime warranty. You get a single replacement sock.
@thewellnessfamily which sock was warmest?

Hi, does it ok that we can send our toy product to you for review?
Smart wool is owned by a a larger corporation now
What about feetures?
No wonder I keep getting holes in the toes of all my Bombas low rise socks they are made in China!! Time to switch to an American made company 🇺🇸
I have to research woke companies. This is the most important consideration. Woke gets avoided.
Made in china
