Maangchi, Fresca is a lightly sweet grapefruit flavor soda, but in the US it has artificial sweetener. The Mexican version must have sugar instead. The second soda is apple soda. :)

That food looks sooooo delicious! my 7 year old is watching with me. He said, Oh Mommy it looks like the beach we went into in Mexico! We visited Rosarita Beach in Mexico (below Tijuana) for the first time two months ago. Anyhow, I really love fish and good to see other recipes how to cook it!

I live in northern Norway and often fish in the fjord near my house. There will be mackerel in the fjord in the summer 😀 and as soon as I catch one, I will prepare it according to your recipe.

Fresca is a brand of sugar-free grapefruit soda (using artificial sweetener). You can also find it in the United States, but the containers look different!

Yumm!!! Many people in the US shun mackeral because all they have ever seen/eaten is from a can or from a grocery store fish counter (where it is WAY past fresh and smells really fishy). Fresh Spanish Mackeral is a real treat.
I often eat tinned Mackrell in tomato sauce. But there's a huge difference between brands. If I can't have the brand I like, then I'd rather not have any.
Agreed, a colleague finally convinced me to try fresh mackerel from her lunchbox -- honestly, it was a revelation! Such nice texture and flavour, nothing at all like the fishy tinned stuff. And seasoned the way Maangchi does it, I'll bet it's even better!

You need a Dos Ech-ees Mexican beer (XX) with that salty mackeral. We used to catch Spanish mackeral on the Texas Gulf Coast, salt and smoke them a couple of hours, and sit and enjoy them with beer while we fishermen swapped stories of great past catches. And that was 50+ years ago.
But your lunchbox looks so much better.

My measuring cup 1 cup is 240 ML. I use American units of measurements in my videos and cookbooks, and one of my readers in Paris had a genius idea, which I want to tell everyone about. She bought some American measuring cups online, so now she can make anything!
