    Man, if you are not planning on selling the parts on a kit at least share the files with the world. It's such a great idea with an amazing execution for it to be a one time thing and it will help tremendously in keeping these aging guitars alive

    Would you ever think about sharing your CAD file so that people could have the board or something similar made?

    Are there STLs and links to the files you used for the PCBs? Would love to do this mod. Definitely the cleanest USB-C mod on there and it looks great.
    I suppose the lack of response is a given, this will never see the light of day and people will have to create their own to do this. It's a shame, the legwork is already done and rather than sell or freely distribute the project, it will never see the light of day for anything beyond this single guitar.

      kinda silly for him to not post the file any where when 3d printing hobby kinda has that mentality of helping everyone out with their ideas and creations

    What can that port be used for it I couldn’t mod it?

  • @adamdrumonde1664
    @adamdrumonde1664 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is very cool, but for something like a guitar controller this doesn't seem like a huge benefit. A removable cable is more likely to fall out during play. I get the benefit of storage, but it's not THAT big a deal to have a cable attached to it, is it?

    • @dave.madison
      @dave.madison  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      In addition to making it easier to store, having a detachable cable means I can use different length cables when playing on the couch or at a desk without having to worry about the excess. It also means the cable is replaceable if it gets damaged in any way. I haven't had the cable fall out yet but I can see the concern.
      Internally, replacing the cable with the PCB also gives me a power port for future mods without having to splice wires or tap off of the main PCB. That's not in use yet but it will be in the near future.
      But mostly it's just for fun :D The cable was annoying me so I decided to do something about it.

  • @Dabbin_ON_Em_90s
    @Dabbin_ON_Em_90s 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How can I buy an exact cable like yours?? I'm trying to convert ps2 sg to usb-3.0 cable but not sure how to find a cable like that or similar with the right angle molded boot and 6 cables like the ps2 connector wire

  • @andyelsick

    • @dave.madison
      @dave.madison  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, although the circuitry is more complicated since those aren't already USB devices.

    Try to make it wireless

    • @husky3g
      @husky3g 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No point. The point of the xplorer is the ease of compatibility and low-latency. Once you go wireless, it kills any chance you had of zero input lag.
