I really hope that if the next Vox Machina one shot (the destination wedding!!!) happens at a live show, the cast will show up in touristy vacation outfits. Straw hats, Hawaiian shirts, socks and sandals, sunscreen on the nose, the works. Either that or a full bridal ensemble. 😂

as time went on, the live shows costumes got more ridiculous. Does it even serve a purpose other than shock value? If the only way you can feel fabulous (for some reason) is to use eyeliners by the litres, sure, go ahead. Shock value should be a tool, to direct attention to (or divert it from) something. Considering CR has the best kickstarter ever, everyone and their mother already know about them. They dont need attention, so is shock avlue the primary goal? If it is, thats just sad
Or... You know... A theme? They did this with the NYCC as well, everyone choosing a theme to wear and then showing up on it (except for Sam, who just trolls everyone and does his... Thing); in case you missed, the theme this time around was "gothic", so they all wore it; can't really dress stereotypicaly goth without a few litres of eyeliner.
They're theater nerds. They get to scratch their itch for over-the-top dramatics, costumes, and makeup a few times a year on this show. Plus, it's kind of Sam's shtick to be an over-the-top musical theater drag queen at these things. I can think it's a little bit over the top as well sometimes (probably because I'm not a theater nerd at all and I don't really understand the urge for theatrics), but they do them and it's not really a big deal.

Long story short: It's hype af I... Honestly really appreciate it. If it's going to be a live show with people paying for it, make it theatric and over the top. It is, after all, still a production of sorts. It really hypes up the moment and get's the energy going, setting the crowd up as well. If they showed up in their regular clothes with just a fade-in and just like a regular episode, it would play out more like a regular episode with worse audio quality and possibly interruptions from the audience. Also, a costume of sorts helps one get 'in character', and helps build the hype up for the players as well. This is especially good for stuff like Matt's imposter syndrome, where he can 'get into character' easier since he's already wearing the part.
