It's based on her d10 roll, so MAYBE she wouldn't catch it, but she could certainly try! But I guess it's just funnier to just get shot in the butt, right? For that ability to work your character has be completely aware of the intent of another character to shoot them and the origin and tragectory of the projectile in question. Beau was climbing a tree ahead of Nott; her back to the goblin and all her attention focused on winning the climbing race. Not a goddamn chance in HELL that ability would work.
@@tnerbtnerb5136 Sorry for being SOOOO late answering back, every time I was checking back on this video I didn't have my Player's Handbook with me, and then just forgot answering back! But now I just checked the Deflect Missiles ability, and nothing in it says you have to be "aware of the intent". What is says, specifically, is that you can use your reaction, and I quote, "when you are hit by a ranged weapon attack". Nott's gunshot was a ranged weapon attack, Beau was hit by it, so she could have used her reaction to catch it!

Between Travis' and Taliesin's reactions, I frequently have to stop and replay moments of dialog that I missed due to their laughter or mine! 🤣
