You actually have multiple options to get and play the game. I have original copy and CD-key.
Official servers are long gone, but there are alternatives like BF2Hub, PlayBF2 and Back2BF2 which provide servers and last two also provide the game.
My advice would be that join the Lost Soldiers discord. There is lot of helpful people myself included to help you get back on the game if you wish. :) www.lost-soldiers.org/
