  • Your minimal, lightweight backpacking companion - Lightning 45L and 60L!
An ultra lightweight pack for any multi-day backpacking adventure where minimal weight and functionality are essential. It offers outstanding comfort, freedom of movement, and load-bearing stability. The suspension system is fully length-adjustable and can be easily configured to fit the length of your back.
Side zig-zag compression straps and a webbing strap that runs across the backpack with quick-release buckles keep gear like a mat or tent fly securely in place. Those who use the Lightning for mountaineering can attach ice tools to the designated loops and central daisy chain.

    About EXPED -
The EXPED story began with the personal outdoor experiences of Heidi and Andi Brun. In 1981, the Swiss adventurers lived in the northern Canadian wilderness for nine months, spending the long winter in a log cabin built with their own hands. Improvising in their everyday life with minimal resources, and the freedom this approach allowed, inspired them to get involved in the development of functional outdoor gear. The EXPED brand is the direct result of this dream-come-true adventure.
EXPED products embody the best of Swiss design and a commitment to the highest quality. From the beginning, we have tinkered, tested, and innovated to build gear that is unique, durable and thoughtfully created - and we’ve repeatedly turned outdoor gear conventions upside down.

Well i have to say, this is a great pack. Wish they would make it out of ultra fabric, ditch the toppocket. Make the hipbeltpockets waterproof. Seamseal the thing and you will be having an even better pack. 👍

Would have been great to see the additional front mesh pouch included in the video and how it attaches
Waterproof hip pockets would be great instead of mesh
And also an integrated front mesh pocket added to the design would make this a top class pack

Is the stay removable? Can you also make a 80litre version for super remote extended adventures and packrafting please!

The stay is removable/adjustable. Larger pack sizes are being considered, though the Lightning would likely need a redesigned frame for the added weight of that much gear. For packrafting, something like our Tempest Duffle (www.exped.com/en/products/gear-bags/tempest-70) might be better suited to the situation (though it depends on how far one would be carrying it in "backpack mode")

@@ExpedLLC Thanks for the message. all my Packrafting set up including food for 6 days weights 19kg, so within the frame capacity. At 80 litres I could fit everything inside the pack (rather than the outside) for on a plane/bushwhacking. I would be happy to test prototypes 🙂!

"With an ultralight pack you're oftentimes going to be using a single pack for multiple days".
That must be the dumbest thing I've ever heard said on an outdoors youtube channel.
