This is AWESOME! Thank you for sharing!!! Can’t wait for more testimonies from our Bombers community! Our community is better by your example and leadership. No matter the story, Functional Fitness improves all lives through intentional, relentless, and dedicated coaches. Thank you Andy!
Hey Andy, thanks for sharing your story! I'm AD Air Force MQ-9 pilot who had a traumatic ankle injury in 2019, so I really relate to a lot of your story. I was always an athlete, and have been getting back into some sports, but three plus years of sedentary life have tacked on some weight and I am not in great shape. I like the CrossFit functional fitness model and I found your video when I googled "CrossFit with a fused ankle". My ankle isn't fused, but I have very limited mobility, so it is essentially fused. Obviously after listening to your story, CrossFit can be tailored and modified to accommodate injury, and you are likely a highly qualified expert on these mods, but do you think a regular Lvl-1 or Lvl-2 coach be equipped to make those modifications? How much of it was just pure experimenting? Thanks again! - Heath
Hi Heath... I'd love to connect and help you as I can - sounds like our stories are very similar. Easy answer is a L1 or L2 coach can make those mods, and a lot of it is experimenting. Big picture, if you are willing to try you will find that you can adapt and overcome. If you want to reach out via email at andy@bomberscrossfit.com we can dig into specific questions or concerns you may have.
