I have much respect for Doron David Sherwin. The cornetto is a challenging instrument and to play it in moderation with the other instruments takes some serious experience and skill. Beautifully played. IT's a shame the cornetto disappeared. I imagine if it had been consistently played this well, it wouldn't have.
David Tayler is a virtuoso. Such ease and refinement. Subtle and always right where he should be. Articulate and perfect voicing. Bravo!

"Pitch A=466 Hz". Interesting. i thought at this time the pitch of A was overall lower , despite regional differences.
Thank you very much, for this wonderful interpretation.
In many place there was a dual pitch standard, with high pitch for the wind instruments. Typically, cornettos would play at high pitch.
@@VoicesofMusic if the pitch A=466 Hz, how you manage to tune the baroque violin? I think the E gut string can't even stand A=442

Thank you. Praetorius writes extensively about the use of the cello and the violin family at the beginning of the century. However, there is another reason to use the cello: since there are no frets, the cello is perfectly suited to play in pure meantone temperament.

I've never heard of Johann Schop.
He's not very well known, but he was one of the founders of the violin school.
I did'nt know Johann Schopp. Very interesting. But why a pitch at 466 hz and not at 415 hz for example ?
I suspect it’s to match the strings and wind to the pitch of the organ. Organs, especially baroque organs, are / were set at a particular pitch and difficult to adjust if at all.
Also, could be something to do with the Temperament the players were using.
The winds and the organ are at A=466, and the strings are at 415--it was quite common back then to have dual pitch playing
