Fernando Cruz: My 88yr old father, Glenn R. Colliver died of a stroke 2-7-17. He was a pianist and baritone player. On his death bed I shared your performance of the William Tell Overture with him.....He was in awe! It was the last music he ever would hear.Thank you. He died at Reasearch Hosptal, Kansas City,Missouri
So nice of you to write that . A nice memorial piece for your father So sorry for your loss, at least he was able to hear this magnificent piece thanks to a good son such as you. Again, so sorry for your loss..
This performance took my breath away. I cannot wrap my mind around how he captures the grandeur and fullness of an orchestra with just his two hands and a piano.
fantastic!!!! The musician always tries to become one with the music, in mind, body, emotions. You achieve this phenomenally, in a way probably many sense but may not say. Just viewing your hands as you play the galloping melody, your fingers literally take on the appearance of a team of wild horses furiously tearing against their bridle: each bursting with energy seemingly on its own impulse and direction, but still bound as a team making glorious, furious harmony out of something verging on chaos. The internet is loaded with fantastic piano performances, but this one uniquely suggests a Lisztian principle in its purest most elemental form: fusion of super-refined technique and understanding with raw, virtually animal, passion, the former "harnessing" the latter in an explosion of vibrant, vital sound. Can't imagine this music conveyed more perfectly.
Sounds like Franz took this piece & RAN WITH IT!!!!!!!!! Loved it !. BIG TIME! I think Giaccamo would have been pleased that such a fine transcriber would get his mitts on Rossini's piece.
Brovo Fernando, i still remember this wonderful concert vividly like yesterday. The Beethoven was also unforgettable, and I often come back to the video clips to simply enjoy. I hope you are well.
An amazing performance! Surviving the fourth section requires amazing endurance. Doing it on stage for youtube is incredibly brave. Bravo! Reportedly Liszt regularly played this crowd-pleaser in concert. It's easy to see why.
Fernando Cruz: Thank you for commenting back on my father Glenn Colliver, Not only are you amazingly tallented, you're very kind and polite. Side note maybe of some interest: My father got to see Valdamire Horowitz, Liberace, Glenn Miller, Spike Jones, & Elvis back in the day. My father was also asked by the Truman Library in Independence, Missouri to dig President Harry S Trumans grave and latter on help dig the grace of First Lady Bess Truman, I helped him with that one. Again, he thought your performance of Rossini's' William Tell Overture was amazing. He loved the piano. I'm his son, Tim Colliver.
I've listened to quite a few piano versions and none comes close to this guy .... anyone out there comment and send me a link if there is a better version 'cause I'd like to hear it. Thanks
Fernando Cruz Dear Fernando. Thank you so much for your quick reply. I have one quick question, hope you could answer. I only want to play the piece after 8:30. Do you think this piece(after 8:30) is very difficult? Well, I am not a pro, but an amateur, and I do have patient. Thank you.
+SunSon29 Yes, I think it's very difficult. But there are easier arrangements, just go here imslp.org/wiki/Guillaume_Tell_(Rossini,_Gioacchino) and have a look at the Arrangements section, maybe you'll find an easier arrangement by another composer.

Dear Tim: I am very thankful and glad to hear that my music helped. Thank you for sharing this touching story, my best wishes to you.
I am so sorry for your loss. Consolation must be that your father died in the wonderful world of music he loved.
