The amount of people keep complaining literally about everything, damn. Chill guys. It's just a tool. I use a Sigma FP currently with all the quirks and it still does the job and my clients are happy with my work, not the camera. If you can afford it, buy the best of the best or else stop complaining. Great video brother!
I've had many Blackmagic cameras in the past. The Pyxis looks great, but three things are keeping me from getting one: 1) Rolling shutter. They've fixed it with the Cine Ursa cameras, but not the Pyxis and Pocket cameras. There is gyro data, but it's more steps and not as good as a fast rolling shutter, 2) No internal ND's. If they can fit internal NDs into the Pocket 6K Pro or a C70, they should have room in the Pyxis., and 3) the side monitor is not articulating. Not sure what Blackmagic has against articulating monitors. Maybe Gen2 of the camera will address these issues.
Sold all my gear, got out of the industry for a bit to take a break, now working a full time job. Saving up a bunch of money currently to buy this beautiful camera and find my passion again. My job uses Sony and I yearn for the BMD color science. You can’t beat it!
that is no proof? the ff 6k blackmagic sensor is developed by blackmagic, they produce their own sensors a while ago. "The Blackmagic Pyxis sensor is developed in-house by Blackmagic Design, not sourced from Sony or another third party. Blackmagic has made significant advancements in designing their own sensors to better control image quality, color science, and performance tailored specifically for their cameras. This is a shift from some earlier Blackmagic cameras that used off-the-shelf sensors, such as Sony’s. With the Pyxis sensor, Blackmagic emphasizes their proprietary technology to stand out in the cinema camera market."
The Komodo is awesome in its own ways. Obviously having a global shutter is the main reason. Every issue I had with the Komodo is kind of fixed in the Komodo x, with all that said the Pyxis is full frame and can do open gate. I wouldn’t say one is better than the other they just kind have their own quirks and features
@ yeahhh Komodo is a great camera - limited audio options though right? I’m seriously thinking about selling mine and getting a Pyxis - is it worth it or would I be downgrading.. I guess the black magic cloud thing and the better audio solutions are a part of it for me. But yeah - that global shutter is special right?? Haha
Wait, so the Pyxis doesn’t have 6k 60 in 21x9? Why does EVERYONE forget to mention this😩 6k 60 is really a big deal and no ever mention it. Really a disservice to the camera🤦🏽♂️
If there’s lots of light to work with, then this is a very capable sensor, an interesting body design, and I have always liked working in BRAW. But for most of the work I do as a solo operator the FX3 and FX6 are far better tools. There’s so much more latitude.
Yeah depending on what you are shooting and also need autofocus the fx6 is a better option and it has internal ND. With that said it’s also 2x the price. Always have to come back to the crazy low price of the Pyxis for what it is
@ I had two BMCCs last year for a film project and was not satisfied with the output in lower light situations. I made it work after a lot of fussing with NR in Resolve. But I don’t want those worries for paid work so it doesn’t matter that the FX6 is more money. I have more confidence that my deliverables can hit the mark with clients. And the price difference isn’t all that much by the time you finish building out the Pyxis. Not to mention the agency work which in many cases will require an extra transcode out of BRAW. There’s no time for that. The Pyxis is an interesting, entry level, dead end for commercial work. I’m sorta curious to see how BM addresses the mid-priced Ursa segment of their lineup, maybe that camera will be of interest. But I’m even more curious to see how Sony takes on the C400 as it puts the FX9 out to pasture.
I also do client and I was also not satisfied with low light result. But I have to tell you, Sony has noise reduction built in and Blackmagic doesn’t. You have to get good with noise reduction in post in order to get good footage out of it. Sony’s auto noise reduction will of course be better than us trying to achieve it but I found it to be worth it and better because you have full control of it. Not every scene is the same but for the auto NR, it doesn’t matter. That’s where the difference lies, having full control. After working with a lot of RAW footage, I can never look at Sony’s footage the same. Plus, working with RAW is a game changer for me. I don’t have to worry about a lot of stuff.
@@dewankiscents I covered a business networking event yesterday in a restaurant with black walls and mostly overhead cans for light. I was grabbing walk around interviews with participants so there was no sensible way to bring artificial light into the crowd without being annoying and obtrusive. So in that case ISO 12800 S-Log3 is the only way to function and a little bit of internal noise reduction is a small price to pay for the operating flexibility. Not to mention I was working with an FX3 that I could balance on a Ronin RS3 Mini attached to a monopod, a setup that requires almost no working floor space. I could get around the room with ease and “set up” instantly. You can’t do that with a BMCC, never mind a Pyxis.
nice review.. but now days people want to carry around compact cameras. like Panasonic Lx100ii, S9 or Sony ZVE1.. smaller camera body with 4K or even 5K full-frame sensors
Lenses are soft at t2. Optically these lenses are pretty flawed but I think that’s what people love about them, they have a. Gritty vibe to them. I wouldn’t ever use them on proper commercial work but for some shorts and music videos I think they are awesome
@@LeeZavitz Cool. I'd still open them up to at least 2.8;) For me the look you're getting is akin to a BPM at 1/2 or even full strength (doesn't have a ton of uses). My best!

Love the Pyxis! I love all the builds you did, you gave me some ideas.

uffff you need a better colorist dude, dont be afraid of pulling down gamma

I really love the image out from this PYXSIS. I just used it for my new movie for big screen.

this with typoch or leica R would be great to have!
Leica R lenses are beautiful
thanks for the video i have a small quesion did the pyxis suffer from IR polution wirh the poco adapter ? thank you
your first video looks better than now that adapter sucks
honestly, amazing video.
Looks GREAT!!!!
Why not the FX3 or FX6? are you just testing this…? I know you’re Sony Guy so I’m wondering after using would you switch for cinema work…?
Amazing video bro!!!!!
Thx man. How are you liking the Pyxis?
If I was a full time filmmaker living off of making films I would use Pyxis for sure.
Love this video 🎉
Hey man! Great video and super informative. 2:52 What car rig did you use to attach the Pyxis to the vehicle?
I think it was the Mathews master mount system. The rental company painted all the grip stuff red to match their branding setready.com
lets gooooooooo
Yass
Id love to play with this camera!
I think I will get this one. Maybe the Canon C80. I really like this one though.
Pyxis. Best Cine camera release in a decade.
where are you getting the information from that this sensor is from the a7iii?
ff Sony 24mp sensor with equal rolling shutter and dynamic range. Lines up
that is no proof? the ff 6k blackmagic sensor is developed by blackmagic, they produce their own sensors a while ago.

Okay I had no idea the iPhone could be used as a monitor
Yeah but it’s too much latency to use as your main display

Yep in 2.39:1 (21:9) you can do off speed 60p
Damn, you embarrassed yourself there.
Is there a mount for Sony E Mount that's effective?
No just L, EF, PL

Samsung S25 ultra vs ? Drop it asap ❤
I don’t get phones sent to me because I’m not a tech phone review channel. So you have to wait till the one I bought arrives next week
@LeeZavitz Yaa.. sending you, Address plz !
Is this a sales pitch?
Depends on how you view it. Just sharing my thoughts after using it for the last 4 months.
@@LeeZavitzsince the camera is a repackaged 6k pro, do you think that form factor warrants the price difference?

Loved the music video, great work! I kinda hate the wasted potential of the screen tho.. its a great screen, but only if it flipped out..
S25 ultra vs pro camera let it com
