Ok, so, the original Astro Boy's origin story was that he was made a replacement for a boy who dies names Tobio (Toby in most US versions). And this droid is T0B1 (but specifically refers to himself as "Tobi" at least once)... So, this is totally Astro Boy as a Jedi. (-:

That's actually a cool idea, let's hope they do it again but make the droid not super annoying

Love how this was just so Astro Boy, and yeah this episode was great.
In the Japanese version, T0-B1 is voiced by Masako Nozawa, who is best known for voicing Son Goku since Dragonball started.
This is one of my favorite episodes of the series! The carvings on the wall telling the entire story of Star Wars, the nostalgia of being a young kid fantasizing about being a jedi and having adventures around the galaxy… So cool.
There's no explicit canon explanation, but it's hinted at many times throughout multiple sources that cybernetics diminish a Force-user's connection to the Force. That's one of two reasons why it's generally considered that droids can't ever use the Force. For example, there's been plenty of hints that Palpatine deliberately had Anakin equipped with more mechanics than he explicitly needed just to make sure he couldn't overpower him, while still maintaining him as a powerful tool.

In this case, I believe T0-B1 is similar to various "Force-sensing" technologies and the like that have been mentioned throughout Star Wars lore. Having the Khyber crystal incorporated into him probably acted as a conduit for his own Force-sensitivity.
I liked a comment I saw that said maybe he was a real padawan at some point and that's why he had the"dreams" (memories)
The Elder is my 2nd favorite.
Also The Ninth Jedi is apparently set decades probably hundreds of years after The Rise Of Skywalker.
i hope the 9th jedi is made to a full series.. what i like about it is that its set years if not more AFTER jedi are like extinct.. not everyone and their mom is a jedi like the movies

I would say this character is more reminiscent to Astro Boy rather than Mega Man. Or at least an amalgamation of the two characters, maybe.
Tobi is astroboy's human name as well. It's such a great send up.
T0B1 is every kid (and I was one) sitting in the theater when Star Wars first opened seeing Jedi as the ones who helped people and made things better. None of the drama and mythology that got layered on in later films, but the 'good' people who fought evil and worked to make the universe a better place. In many ways, he's the purest little Jedi there could be and, really, what we kids imagined it would be like if we were given that chance. I really connected with this episode due to all those old, wonderful memories...

Astro Boy meets Star Wars! Loved this episode sooo much!
So I started to question how on earth a droid can be Force sensitive (apart from this being a noncanon experimental short story) but when I realized that his core is a lightsaber crystal attuned by a Jedi who apparently specializes in bringing life to dead planets.
T0-B1 is basically sentient crystal given life through attunement through the Living Force and is basically an imprinted son of that Jedi and then given a droid body a la The Iron Knights from the EU.
I love T0B1! This is one of my favorite episodes!

Thank you for doing these I know They aren't your favorite ones to do but think of it this way it gives you something to do to kill time between now and November when you guys get hit like a Tank. As for this episode I thought the Exact same thing if they made Megaman a Jedi.

Star Wars is timeless. You can place new stories anywhere. Hope Disney understands that.
I mean, i've seen plenty of reactors try to figure out when episodes would take place, ignoring that these are "inspired by" Star Wars. Disney has not been unclear in the least.
@@wewoor yeah a lot of these are multiverse Imperial Era. Some could fit in Imperial Era. The Ninth Jedi is post ST. Then you have the 1st being elements of Star Wars used for something new.
Think this episode sits pretty firmly in the "Eh... it was alright," range for me... as did 5 of the 9 Eps.

Astro boy, Jedi Master. Yes, this is Astro Boy. Yes, a young padawan died and his Scientist Jedi Master transplanted his brain into an android body.
I don't think so. I think T0-B1 is a replacement for his Padawan, but that it's still strictly a droid. Rather than a brain or any other parts, I think he used the crystal in his Padawan's lightsaber. It's mentioned in a wide variety of sources, even a little in canon, that there are technological ways of measuring the Force. A version of such technology, coupled with an attuned Khyber crystal, might well give even a droid its own kind of Force sensitivity.
I sometimes think about Adam's long neck, lol

This is probably my least favorite one.
It's a dead heat between this episode and the twins for my least favorite visions episode. The Twins made me angry, this one made me want to barf. T0B1 is the most anoying character in Star Wars by far (including Jar Jar and Rose) I was rooting for off brand Darth Vader destroy him
You got issues. As a die-hard hater of Jar jar, myself...I can't agree with you at all.
This is by far the worst episode imo.
