I just accomplished this today thanks to your video. As a single mom and a home owner, DIY is big for me and saving pennies where I can. Thank you for posting this!
Thank you so much!!! I was having an existential crisis over the fact that my new igniter looked different than the old one, and your”18 yearold” oven joke really helped get me back down to earth.
I love that you cleaned the floor behind the oven as one of your first steps! So do I!! Just try to get a repairman to do that--or to wait while you do it!
Thank you so much! I watched several other TH-cam videos, but they left out some parts that you explained clearly. I simply followed your video and it worked like a charm. Now I can report back to my wife that the oven is fixed, and that a knowledgeable woman on TH-cam showed me how to do it, which will make her doubly happy!
Wish TH-cam had a ❤️ button. This is such an awesome video. Simple, to the point, and very informative. I feel a lot less into mediate to change out my igniter. Thanks!
You all probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot my login password. I love any help you can give me.
@Kason Hendrix I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thanks! My wife wanted to "junk the stove" but i wasent sure about that. So i got a new igniter and it took me about 30 minutes to do the job. Igniter cost - 20$
Girl POWER! Those who say "you should have been a man" really annoy me! I fix everything myself and hear that so very often. Great video that I came across looking for an igniter fix for my 25 years old Zanussi cooker that has just stopped igniting on all hobs and oven and grill. No videos available so will have to pull it apart to find it when I have time... Thanks for a fun video, that magnetic light is a gadget I don't have yet 🤣
Congratulations!.. I have an engineering background and do similar DIY chores myself, I admired your talent and knowledge in your projects. Will be pleased to watch your future videos, wish you all the best!...
Thanks for the help, after installation i could smell gas, turns out the previous technician installed the old igniter upside down so too much gas came out before ignition , my wife had mentioned that but I unfortunately never investigated..cheers👍
Thanks. Replaced mine on a 12 year old Kenmore. Machine screws were stripped, which, I read, is a common problem. Let's just say that replacing the drum brakes on my 99 Honda in 100 degrees was easier than getting those screws off.
Great video. I replaced one a year ago. It broke with no discoloration or visible defect externally. Failed the continuity test with a multi-meter. There are some videos on youtube to do the continuity check. Mass produced parts and very poor quality nowadays. Good day, Ma-am! 😊
How do you remove the bottom face panel of the stove? I'm not talking about removing the bottom inside the oven, I'm talking about outside of the oven. Where it looks like there's a bottom drawer but it's not, it's just a bottom panel outside of the stove. is there a video on how to remove that? Thanks.
I am taking matters in my own hands to fix ours that died on me last Thanksgiving (been utilizing a Ninja which was supposed to be a temporary fix). But I am enjoying this, because I have one picked out on Amazon (I work in IT at Amazon), and will be using the same blue gloves and will be spending time cleaning behind and around until it arrives. 😂
Mine only 4 y.o. Last night I put meat to cook, and found out it's not working. Had to use broiler mode. I guess I have to change it on the weekend. Thank you for your post. It is not that hard looking now. I think I can do it.
Hi! I changed the pilot, the oven is working but the flame 🔥 is stronger and you can see it after you put the burner cover and smell a gas too. What is it? Help please!
Thank you for this!! I was very nervous about changing out my igniter but after watching this, you def make me feel like I can do this!! Do you happen to know about how much a new igniter is??
This was a couple of years ago, so I don't really remember off the top of my head, but I imagine it's less than $50. Certainly a lot less than buying a new stove!
I have a igniter on gas range that does not ever turn off. We have to unplug the oven it to get it off. Any ideas? I just replaced the sensor but that wasn’t it.
Actually, dragging your whole stove out is unnecessary. Instead of unplugging the stove, simply go to your electrical panel and throw out/disconnect the circuit that powers the receptacle it is plugged into. You can check this by seeing if an upper burner lights if your stove does not have a clock. The gas inlet on the stove has a safety interlock with a control valve where if the igniter is not working, the electrically controlled gas inlet valve will not open allowing gas to flow into the oven's burner.
I pulled my stove out to do the repair. And vacuumed up dead roaches after spring application of Combat roach paste. What if the stove is on a shared breaker? The igniter only draws 4-5 amps. Do you flag the breaker panel: "Out for service, do not touch?" I know a few people who got injured when others failed to listen to very simple warnings and STILL didn't do as directed.

I've done this once and the part lasted about two years, now doing again.
Thanks for the refresher! I remember it being quite simple!
Thanks for this! Was able to fix my oven for $14 rather than $100!
Thanks for this! Was able to fix my oven for $25 rather than $100!
Thanks for this video! Your method is straightforward, and makes the most sense (eg. take out the door, and doing the repair gets MUCH easier).

@Raiden Kobe happy to help :)
👍🏻. Nice I can’t get my wife to use the oven let alone fix it!
You're obviously a quadriplegic or paraplegic. Pity. Otherwise, if you're able-bodied, get off your bum and mush!!🤣😂

Almost fell over dead reading this one 💀💀💀

LOVE THIS! (It really is!)
Thank you so much for this video! I was able to quickly and easily replace the igniter on my Amana gas stove on my own.
Very helpful, made me feel more confident. Just replaced mine and the oven preheated perfectly!
You rock, Chick! I did this years ago, but now it needs it again. Glad to see a simple fix with a pretty face involved!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for this great video! I now feel confident I can do this and surprise my wife in time for Thanksgiving (in Canada that’s next weekend). 💙

I’m tired of paying Sears $500 to replace our bake igniter every few years. Thank you I think I can do this!!! (With my husbands help lol) 😂

My screws won't turn freely, pillers slip off its flat any suggestions ty.
Can you make a socket wrench fit?
We did it! Thanks for the video 😊 it worked.
I need to suggest this video to my sister, this way she could learn to do things on her own, and not continually pestering me lol.
Love the flashlight do you have a link?
I want that magnet light!!! Thank you for the video!
Right? That thing is awesome!
@@ChickFixUSA Where can I get that light?

Where did u order the new part from didn't see it
Just finished the install and it works. Thank you, thank you, and thank you very much!!!!!!
What tools did you use to remove the screws?
Just a socket wrench set. It's been a while, so I don't remember the size of the bit.
I used 1/4
She makes it looks so easy
Well, I do have to edit it down a bit, otherwise it would be super long. But it's really not undoable yourself, even with limited experience
@@ChickFixUSA thank you, just bought a home with a 3,600$ gas stove...oven doesnt work, I guess this is the next project....power to the ladies!
Yes, because she hardly explains anything.
Hi ChickFix! Does the polarity of the wires need to be determined before reconnecting? I'm assuming it doesn't matter because of AC voltage.
Nope, it does not matter
@@ChickFixUSA Thank you!
does the igniter have to be on the entire time
Love the back-talking teenager stove. 😂
How’d you pull the oven out so easily? Did you use like sliders under? Just ordered my replacement igniter yesterday
Mine slides out pretty easy, but I have to lift it slightly to get it over a bump where the flooring comes together.

Around 18 to 30$ in Amazon
Great video. Love your range. I wish I could find one in white.
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO.
I have to change my igniter too.
Thanks for this video helped me alot!
Hey my kenmore has over won’t light but the broiler works any advise about this issue
Without knowing that model, I would guess that there are two different igniters.
l love it. I fixed my stove a few years back.
Awesome handy woman!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Just did mine!

Not sure. When you say the igniter doesn't ever turn off.... Is this on the stove or the oven
Wow you’re amazing. And BRAVE.
Nicely done. This helps a lot. Thanks!
Good instructor 🤣🤣😎😎
Super helpful thanks
Thank you for watching!
Great tutorial!!!
Great Job. 👏 👍
Where did you get that light?
I've had this one a long time, but here is a similar one: amzn.to/3BIlZVA
Thank you so much for this video, you made it so easy, even a caveman like me can do it
Hope it helps!
Thank you soo much!
Thanks
Thanks great job.

You're welcome! Thank you for watching!
The good news with the square igniters you can use any square one.
Thank you ❤
You are amazng!! Thank you!!

0:40 yeah ross geller taught me that🤣
Thsnks
Scares the crap out of me to even lightly touch the gas valve where you turn it off. Lol
Looks like a glow plug for a furnace
Great video👍I can do this
yes, you can!

started playing music and doing fade in and outs during the most important part of the video

good job... probably saved you a few hundred dollars if you had called a repairman!
My stove is 25 years old, it needs an ignitor, and a new display panel, the parts are more than the cost of a new stove.
The only people I could find where I live wanted 150 just to come look at it ,,yeah ooookaaay
