This is another example of why TH-cam (and people like you who make these videos for everyone’s benefit) is so great. This was exactly what I needed, and the oven is fixed.
@@mundaneman254 Thanks, this is my specific model. I am not mechanically inclined and kept wondering why only two screws in the back when all the other models seem to have 4 screws. So until I saw your video I had no courage to open it up. My screwy fruitcake Mom managed to drop two shrimp in the bottom slit and now I gotta fish them out. Now I have the confidence to do it instead of paying some service charge. God bless you Sir. Followed and subscribed to you for saving my hide and saving me some $$$
Thank you for making this video! This is the third time we have had to refer to it. You made it a workable evolution! Replacing the igniter has become a dreaded annual evolution with this stove. The toughest part is laying down on my belly to get both arms under the stove - yuk!!! We will never buy a Samsung or LG appliance again!
Tom; thank you for the video. I just fixed my oven thanks to your help. Three comments: 1. All of my little screws except for one were locked-in and they strip very easy. I had to Dremel one out. 2. My lower drawer does not have little tabs to release it. It also has more screws (see#1). 3. Because of #1 & 2 above, I chose not to remove the lower drawer and was able to pull the wire connections up far enough to reconnect the new igniter as well as make sure the gas pipe was reinserted properly. For anyone else doing this; you may be able to not remove the lower warming drawer and still safely do this job if your wires are long enough. Thank you again for the great video.
I pulled the stove out (to unplug and turn off the gas), and easily pulled the wires through the back to assemble. And I had to drill one of the screws out completely, it was stuck so badly!!
Thank you! Thank you! I ordered the part off Amazon for less than $30 had it delivered the same day and repaired my own oven in 30 mins!! 💪 My husband was pretty impressed 🤭
OMG thank you. I have a Samsung NX58H9500WS slide in range whose oven stopped heating a few days ago. This video was terrific. Who would've thought that if you can use a screw driver you can repair an oven? I'm a 60 year old woman, generally handy but I'd have never attempted it without seeing this video. My oven is slightly different than the video: an extra screw holding the heating element to the oven back and two electrical connectors on the igniter. (I dissassemebled and took a look before ordering a new igniter just to be sure. I found the part: OEM SAM-DG94-01012A was $163 BUT AT amazon ERP DG94-01012A Oven Igniter at $21 was identical. I followed the video instructions and my oven is working again! Thanks thanks thanks Cindy
I am a 50+ yo female. If I can do this, anyone can. Thank you so much for the very detailed explanation. I have the exact same oven and your play by play video walked me through the entire process. My dad taught me as a young girl, there is nothing you can't do with a bit of research and knowing your limitations. If it hadn't been for a stripped screw, the whole process would have been 15 min tops.
Thank you so much! I couldn't figure out how to disconnect the igniter but YOU saved the day!! Many many thanks from all us women trying to fix things ourselves. 😊
Thank you. Your video was most helpful in repairing the defective oven igniter in my Samsung oven, which failed exactly 2 years and 1 1/2 months from the time it was purchased and installed and just 1 1/2 months after the expiration of the warranties. Certainly doesn't convince me that Samsung makes a reliable and reputable product. But thanks to your video and firms that sell non-oem parts, I repaired it for about $22. The price for the OEM part from Samsung cost $120, and if I had to call a repair service the final bill would have been over $200.
Thank you for these easy to follow instructions. We’ve been living with a slow oven for almost a year. Fortyfive minutes to reach 400! A replacement igniter was $39 and a half hour later: twelve minutes to reach 400, and a bonus - I didn’t blow up the house! Thanks, again.
Mundane Man, My family was dealing with three home repair issues at the same time and your guidance relieved the pressure. We were replacing the basement bilco doors, the kitchen sink had a faulty faucet and a pipe leak, and the oven igniter stopped working. Your guidance solved the broken oven, gave me the time and courage to fix my plumbing/faucet issue, thus saving money for the contractors installing the expensive bilco doors. Thanks for taking the time to post and share your knowledge.
Thank you! I opted to buy the OEM part recommended for my range model hoping to just plug it in but - typical Samsung - the connections were totally different. Clipped off the connector and followed your directions using the ceramic wire nuts. Could not believe how fast my oven heated thereafter. You are my hero!
The right part (with the right connector) is on Amazon… only $24. Glad I didn’t have to clip wires. You saying the actual Samsung part didn’t? So weird. So glad TH-cam exists for finding these handy videos.
Clear and concise instructions with crisp and well lit videography. The access from the warming tray area was key to seeing how the gas line fits together. Thank you for making this.
Great. My Samsung gas range oven ignitor died less than 24 hours before Thanksgiving dinner. I was lucky enough to find a suitable replacement in my local appliance store (I used a Whirlpool kit 12400035, which is a direct plug-in replacement). Your video saved the day. Thank you!
@Kevininchico, I am curious to learn how old your Samsung gas range was before you had this issue. Is it heavily used? It seems like alot of people have had the same issue when looking into this. Mine was very lightly used/clean and happened at the worst time (turkey etc ready to go in and I know nobody who could take our food and cook it for 6 hours to avoid waste/money). In this pandemic and our 3rd lockdown in Ontario and no one working to repair etc. Awful timing and shouldn't have happened already. Did you notice that the temp starts out as 175° in a cool oven when staring to program the temp etc? Should show 0° I think. Another fellow in here noticed the same-we are both curious. (I'd call Samsung again but I was on phone for a VERY long time today with them already and got nowhere.) Curious. Thanks
A perfect DIY repair. Well explained and demonstrated. I would only add confirming the continuity of the old igniter to confirm that this was indeed the problem.
Thank you so much for this video. For a single mom with no idea how to fix a gas oven, I took a chance hoping this was the part I needed. Got my son to help me and thanks to your video, it worked and now I can bake again! You had very clear and easy to understand instructions. The only problem I had was a screw that was stuck and took a while to loosen. Luckily my igniter I ordered came with the plug attached.
Samsung was asking $150 for the ignitor which was 25% of the cost of my Samsung gas oven (NX58F5500SS) bought in 2017. I bought the part for $25 shipped to me free in 3 days from Amazon. Your video allowed me to install the part in 20 minutes and most of the time was getting off my knees for a few minutes of blood flow. I can't say thanks enough for the video.
Perfect. Thank you. The entire repair took no longer than the video. Prior to this repair, my oven would not get past 390 degrees, and took 25 minutes just to get to 350. Now it's 7 minutes to 350 and will hit 425 in about 12 minutes.
Thank YOU!!!!!! We spent $28 on Amazon to get the part and your video was a perfect explanation of how to replace the part! A plumber would have been at least $300 on Long Island...so THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you. This tutorial is well done! So many others are confusing to me. I can do this. My handyman was going to fix it but something bad happened and he can't come right now. I have the part and the same exact range. You have saved Christmas dinner. I'm a widow so I'm very grateful.
Thank you, Mundane Man! The only Samsung repair place is one state away, and they said Samsung doesn’t even carry the igniter part any longer. But with the video we were able to repair it ourselves.
Thanks for the video! I have a NX58H5600SS/AA and it was identical to yours. 30 minutes start to finish using an OEM igniter that I picked up for $38. Saved me the $250+ service call!
Thank you so much for producing this video. It no doubt saved me a bundle of money. With the guidance from this video, I have the satisfaction of having fixed my oven while my husband napped! With the exception of losing a screw into the abyss, all went smoothly.
Thank you very much. You were extremely helpful. This saved us $540 my son installed it. The part was $22 on Amazon. The repairman charged 134 the first visit and then wanted to charge 540 to put it in and for the part so again, thank you so much, sir.
I call that gouging and greed at best, another of these repairmen will be out of business thanks to youtube, I do alot of service/ handyman repairs in my community, I get the info off youtube, charge $20 an hour....not$100. Greed will get u everytime.
This was super helpful!!!! So clear and straightforward that it gave me the confidence to do it myself, and it was exactly as Tom showed. I was able to find an ignitor compatible with my Samsung - happened to be Whirlpool - at a local appliance part shop for $45 and it even had the exact same plug already attached, so no wire stripping needed. (Appliance dealer gave me one piece of advice that might be helpful and that was not to let my fingers come in contact with the ceramic surface b/c he said body oils could then cause it to spark. Don't know if that's true, but it was easy to install w/o touching that part.) THANKS, TOM!!!!
Video was awesome! You saved me at least $100 in a service repair call. It took me longer (24 hours) to get the part than to install it (20 minutes). Of the 20 minutes, 10 of that was gather my tools and putting them away afterwards.
$30 online for a non oem part vs two different contractors with quotes between $200-300. Your video was clear and easy to follow and it was a success! Thank you!
You have saved me! Followed step by step and i got it running again in less than 20 mins. Don't forget to shut off power from main brakes. I was able to get it connect it from inside the over. I didn't have to remove the warming tray.
After watching your video, I figured, “I can do this,” so I did. Your explanations for every step were right on. It took me 20 minutes and the igniter for Amazon was $22. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this video. I purchased the replacement oven igniter for my Samsung range on Amazon for $30 and got my stove up and running! Saved hundreds on a service call. Cheers!
Yes sir … I ‘ve watched darn near a dozen vids on this … none of my model … your video is the absolute best of the best ….clear concise excellent instruction. I feel safe to do this now.. thanks
Thank you so much for the excellent video. Our igniter died last week just before Easter. Was worried I'd be spending a ton of money on a repair. Got the Maytag OEM part for $25 and this took me under thirty minutes to repair. Awesome and clear instructions!
Thank you so much! I was able to replace the ignitor and the oven works. I rarely am able to follow videos and have everything go right. This video was great!!
Thank you sooo much! I bought the part on amazon for $35 and followed your video and I now have a working oven! I was quoted $250 for a repair so you saved me a lot of $$$
another successful installation for my gas range (Samsung NX58F5500SS) thanks to your help. The part I got off Amazon worked without any problems. Can't believe it's fixed! Thank you.
This was perfect. You did a great job explaining it all. Oven is fixed!! We live in rural VT and to get someone to our home is generally expensive. Ordered the part on line.
Thanks Mundane Man. This was super useful. Bought the replacement igniter on Amazon < $30. Should have been a 30 minute task. One of the screws that attaches the tube got completely stripped. I tried everything to get that thing out but the placement was very odd. Anyway, ended up spending about 4 hours trying various things to remove the stripped screw. Ended up just sawing the head of the screw off manually. It was fun. Got it out finally and all works well. Anyway, instructions were great. Thanks again.
Thank You! Our oven started acting up last week. I tried a workaround I found online and got it running again however this would be the ignitor's swan song. I found your video and ordered a $20.99 part on Amazon which arrived the next day. The connector didn't match, which was my fault however I just clipped a few wires, used the included ceramic crimps and we were back in business in about 30 minutes. We celebrated with an impromptu Pizza Night. Thanks again for posting this video!
Thanks for posting this! The oven on my 3 year old Samsung NX58H9500WS slide-in stopped heating, and I didn't know where to start, but after watching this, I ordered a new bake ignitor, PN DG94-01012A . Replacement was exactly the same as in your video. Oven works like new again. Thanks!!
I am here for the third time :). thanks for great instructions. Iwish i had not bought this wretched stove - the knobs and this part are constantly broken. But glad to be able to use your instructions to get it done quickly. The appliance store charged 300$ for this part - amazon it was almost 50$. Huge difference.
Thank you Thank you....I really appreciate this video.....Single women and repair men sometimes don’ match. I am able to fix this on my own and save money on top of not having to take off from work and use up vacation time. I am so grateful and my prayers and blessing will be for you and your family.
Great instructions, I played your video and completed the repair step-by-step. You've made me more confident with tackling household repairs. i look forward to more of your videos as I make repairs around my house. Thank you for saving me a couple of hundred dollars.
This was SO helpful! I got the part on Amazon as well and it was a perfect fit, no splicing necessary. The only thing that our range did differently was that the door needed to be closed for the full ignition to happen. The igniter would start glowing, then turn off while my control panel kept telling me the door was open. We finally closed the door and tried it and it worked - so happy to have save all that money. Thank you for great instructions!
THANK YOU!!! your video was perfect and walked me through replacing a party rather than replacing my oven. I've never fixed anything on my own and now I have!
Tom, thank you for this easy to follow video. I replaced my Samsung igniter with a generic Whirlpool and all went smooth and is back to functioning again. I appreciate you taking the time to share with us all.
Very helpful tutorial. I went with the generic part supplied by my local ideal appliance parts store. And the swap was pretty easy for a weekend warrior such as myself. Many thanks friend. Back to baking!!
After calling a big name appliance repair outfit and receiving an estimate well over $600 US I decided to see if I could figure out how to do it on my own - with some help from good ol’ TH-cam. I found the igniter on Amazon for about 10% of what was quoted so all I needed was something to walk me through the install. This video was the money ticket . The stove works like new now. I think the guy in the video is from Canada and this has to be at least the 4th time some Canadian bloke posted a video for home repairs that saved me huge money. HEY CANADA - I owe you a couple of “cool ones!” ❤ (Canadian flag emoji) ❤
Great video, I replaced the igniter, but I still had the same issue. It turned out some of the burner tube holes were dirty and clogged, especially next to the igniter, I cleaned them out with soft brass brush, and now it's working perfectly.
Thank you for clear and concise instructions. I was able to replace the igniter within 30 mins myself. Helped me out greatly so I didn’t have to call a repair person. Saved me a lot of money as well using a $25 replacement from Amazon.
Thank you so much for your detailed tutorial! I was going to call a repair person and decided "let me check youtube first"...needless to say, I will be attempting this first.
Thanks for this great video. This oven igniter replacement was very easy to do. The Samsung OEM part price was $95 on Amazon. I have the Samsung Gas Range model NX58H5600SS and I used a Maytag 12400035 Oven Igniter. Maytag price was $25.
@@houstonadkins4566 Hey Houston, I did not have to splice the wires. It plugged right in. The connector is the same. That's one of the reasons I picked the Magtag one.
Can't believe I just fixed my oven! Ordered the part from Amazon yesterday, was here this morning. And with your help, I am back in business. Thank you so much!
Thank You Sir, that was a honey do list I've wanted to check off for some time. I have not used the oven in over a month, but when my wife purchased a portable I said enough. I followed your very intuitive video to the letter. I'm BAKING a Dijon Salmon tonight. Thanks again. Dinners on me!
My ignitor went and so glad I found this video! The instructions were very easy to follow and I was able to replace the ignitor with ease. I appreciate you and thank you for taking the time to put this together. This is something I wouldn’t have been able to do on my own with seeing this.
Sir! You saved Xmas 2021..thank you so very much for the time that you put into this video. Karma is real, and I hope that you are blessed abundantly 💕
Thanks, this worked! I was able to order the exact same igniter, which came with the correct connector. All I needed was to search my model number and “igniter” on Amazon. I replaced the part in about half hour.
what a FANTASTIC instructional video!! We had been months without the oven, even though we had already purchased the igniter element. Thank you for your wonderful, step-by-step process!
Excellent and helpful video. Saved me during the insane weather during late January 2019, when the temps dropped to - 50°F. I have a different Samsung model (NX583G0VBSR) and used the process shown in the video to diagnose my issues as the same problem (igniter - part DG94-00520A). I purchased a replacement part from Amazon for $16.20 USD (Amazon Choice - Surface Oven Igniter, Capilary 12in L). The part came with the plug attached, so required no splicing of wires. Again, awesome video showing what I needed to do. Saved me a $300 service bill. Less than 20 minutes,cb less than $20.
Thanks very much for such a fantastic and concise video. Saved me over $250 based on the quote I got from a franchise appliance repair technician! Cheers!
You sir, are our hero. This was easy as could be, thanks to your step by step video. There was however a huge hassle at our end. The screw at 3:50 on the video was stripped. Not just stripped, but almost hollowed out and rusted. So, there I sat with the part that took 3 days to get to me and a huge issue. Everyone in these comments will remember the location of that screw. There is barely any room to work it out with minor stripping. I tried every trick in the book with zero luck. So I ordered a burnisher/removal kit online and another 2 days later....success. Once that little jerk was out of there I had the job done in 15 minutes and I am very novice. You saved us a ton of money Tom and boosted our confidence. Thanks again.
Make sure you are using the right size Phillips head or it will strip. Try cutting a slot in it with a dremel cut off wheel and using a flathead screwdriver.
Thank you! Thank you! Your video saved us an expensive service call and got our oven back up and working. We have the same Samsung Gas Range as you (LOVE it), so your video was really easy to follow. This is our first experience with a Samsung range. It is only 8 years old, so was really bummed when I thought we would have to replace it. I found the oven igniter part on Walmart.com. Made sure it had the plug because I didn't want to have to do any splicing. With tax, it was $18...and free shipping. Between myself, my husband and our 12-year old son (he has "piano" fingers and was able to get the back screws started for hubs). It took us about 30 minutes...a couple of the screws were really hard to undo and I had to keep going to our desktop to view the next step. Tested it out before putting everything back and IT WORKED! We were without our oven about a week and as they say "you don't know what you have until it is gone". Some of these TH-cam videos have been so helpful...fixed our "leaking" washer last year thanks to a video. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing!
Informative video. I pulled my igniter out and there were no cracks in the metal conductor, so I lightly sanded with 400 grit sandpaper and brushed off with a nylon brush. Worked like a charm! Didn’t cost anything other than about 15 minutes of my time.
OMG! Thank you so much! Your video and easy directions saved Thanksgiving dinner! Truly a 15 min. fix with a $25 part instead of the repair and Samsung part for $50+.You are a star!
Clear, straight forward, sound was good....video was good.....instructions were good. Good Grief.....there is a God!

Huge thanks. I ordered the part for my oven and it solved the problem. You saved me hundreds of dollars
Best video for this repair out there. Just replaced mine in 20 minutes. Appreciate you taking the time to record and post.
After watching your video, I figured, “I can do this,” so I did. Your explanations for every step were right on. It took me 20 minutes and the igniter for Amazon was $22. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much! It took under 15 minutes and the oven is back in business! We appreciate your help!
Thank you so much for this video. I purchased the replacement oven igniter for my Samsung range on Amazon for $30 and got my stove up and running!
Saved hundreds on a service call. Cheers!
This is about one of the best videos I have ever seen. Thank you., it saved me $259.00 repair bill.
Thank you! This is the second time I've followed your instructions to replace my oven igniter, and no problems either time.
Followed your video exactly and fixed the oven. No expensive service call to replace a super cheap part. Thanks!!!
Perfect easy to follow step-by-step guide. My replacement igniter came with the correct connector which was an added bonus. Thanks Tom!
I was able to do this because of you and saved the husband from extra work! Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I was able to replace the ignitor and the oven works. I rarely am able to follow videos and have everything go right. This video was great!!
Glad it helped
SAME!!! Except I probably spent more than 4 hours dealing with that stupid screw! My 24 year old was able to drill the head off, finally.
Glad it helped
This was SO helpful! I got the part on Amazon as well and it was a perfect fit, no splicing necessary. The only thing that our range did differently was that the door needed to be closed for the full ignition to happen. The igniter would start glowing, then turn off while my control panel kept telling me the door was open. We finally closed the door and tried it and it worked - so happy to have save all that money. Thank you for great instructions!
THANK YOU!!! your video was perfect and walked me through replacing a party rather than replacing my oven. I've never fixed anything on my own and now I have!
Thank you! Ordered the part, 2 days later we have a functional oven. Perfect instructions. Easy to do. Also... Right to the point, THANK YOU
You saved us so much money by not needing to call a repair man! I am not handy at all and this was very easy to follow. Thank you Tom!
Tom, thank you for this easy to follow video. I replaced my Samsung igniter with a generic Whirlpool and all went smooth and is back to functioning again. I appreciate you taking the time to share with us all.
Thanks for the help! $28 part. 30 minute job! Saved money and now I have the rest of my Saturday
Very helpful tutorial. I went with the generic part supplied by my local ideal appliance parts store. And the swap was pretty easy for a weekend warrior such as myself. Many thanks friend. Back to baking!!
HUGE thanks from our farm!! I cannot thank you enough for this video and the excellent instructions! You saved us! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Saved me $220! Thank you for making a seemingly complicated task simple.
Huge thanks to you! Your explanation was direct and clear and helps me fix my mother's stove easily!
Thank you for this video! It gave me the confidence to replace the igniter by myself. I'm happy to say the oven is working again!!
Thanks for this great video. This oven igniter replacement was very easy to do. The Samsung OEM part price was $95 on Amazon. I have the Samsung Gas Range model NX58H5600SS and I used a Maytag 12400035 Oven Igniter. Maytag price was $25.
Hey Arnold, I have the same model Samsung as you. May I ask, did you have to splice the wires or did the housing plug in?
@@houstonadkins4566 Hey Houston, I did not have to splice the wires. It plugged right in. The connector is the same. That's one of the reasons I picked the Magtag one.
Great tip, Arnold. I ordered the Maytag 12400035 for my NX58H5600SS and it was a quick replacement with no splicing.
I did the same $15 on Amazon
@@DarrinKhan Yeah, this replacement is so easy and a great money saver.
Thanks for your kind words.
Thank you so much for your video! Fix was pretty straightforward, you helped us save the cost of a repairman!
Mr Mundane...thanks for your video, you saved us a repair...you are not mundane!!!!!
Thanks, this worked! I was able to order the exact same igniter, which came with the correct connector. All I needed was to search my model number and “igniter” on Amazon. I replaced the part in about half hour.
I sincerely want to thank you. My oven works again! It was a very easy and inexpensive fix. So grateful for your thorough video.
Great video. Our oven was still lighting sometimes, but we'd often get a whiff of gas and it was taking forever to preheat. It works great now.
Thank you for this video.....didn't realize how easy this is.....saved me about $200 by doing it myself!
what a FANTASTIC instructional video!! We had been months without the oven, even though we had already purchased the igniter element. Thank you for your wonderful, step-by-step process!
My pleasure!
You just saved our Thanksgiving with this video. Oven is back on! Thank you.
You are my hero! I am NOT very handy, but this was a breeze following your directions. THANK YOU!
Good job!
Cheers!
Great job!
I was lucky enough to get an igniter with the appropriate plug. Otherwise your instructions were spot on. Thanks!
Thank you!
Wow. Perfect video. I used it, ordered a part for $25, and saved a lot of money and time. Thanks again!!
Informative video. I pulled my igniter out and there were no cracks in the metal conductor, so I lightly sanded with 400 grit sandpaper and brushed off with a nylon brush. Worked like a charm! Didn’t cost anything other than about 15 minutes of my time.
Yaay! Does it still work to this day?
Thank you so much! I felt confident enough to do the job myself because of your detailed video. You saved me at least $200.
OMG! Thank you so much! Your video and easy directions saved Thanksgiving dinner! Truly a 15 min. fix with a $25 part instead of the repair and Samsung part for $50+.You are a star!
