I have had my CB1000R now for 1 week and have been able to use it on all types of roads in both rain and standard modes. Travelling at 70 mph (approx. 4,600 revs)on the motorway was comfortable and the ride was compliant suggesting light/ medium touring would be good to do, standard mode offered greater responsiveness than rain with delivery in both smooth and rewarding accompanied by a nice exhaust note (standard can). Obviously I am still running the engine in so do not know yet what the added value will be once revs go above 5,500 when the exhaust note and engine power changes but this is to come. You are right in stating that this bike is a gem. Interesting note is that mpg is continuing to increase and my bike is now registering 41mpg and is going up.
Glad you liked my pics on Instagram 👍The bike surprised me how comfortable and compliant it was, it is beautifully put together just like a Honda should be.
Damn you, Mr Fish. Now you've really gone and done it. A month ago, your excellent review compelled me to go buy the little brother, the CB300R. Your review was indeed spot on. I love the little bugger. Feels just like you described. Awesome, light, fun, and a high quality piece of kit, for what it is. But now, NOW you've got me looking down the road at stepping up my riding skills (not to mention my cash flow), and stepping up to THIS!!! I hope Honda appreciates your vlogs. I do. Thank you sir.
I'm actually very surprised you felt comfortable on it (197cm, 110kg myself). For me it was a very weird experience, I was struggleing to find a grip with my legs, because of how the tank is shaped. I felt detached, and sitting on it rather then in it. Felt way way smaller despite it is the same size like my Cb650f(2018), wich is my most comfortable bike till date(even compared to my 2019Atas, 2020 Suzuki GsxS1000F). Great review BTW
Fish how could we hate you for your unexpected but enjoyable and exciting review of this beautiful looking flagship. Love the sound of the inline 4. Was holding out for the CB 650f here in Canada, but they're slow to get to dealerships. Bought the cb500x instead. I share your love and excitement for that little machine. Keep up the good work mate!
This bike is not a hyper-naked [Super Duke R, 1100 Tuono etc]. This is a machine tuned with loads of low end and mid range punch for the road. It's natural competitors are the Kawasaki Z1000 [R edition included], Suzuki GSXS 1000, Ducati 1200 Monster and the Triumph 1050 Speed Triple. All are great bikes in their own right. I am going to try and blag a ride on the Honda since I could be in the market for a new big naked bike in the not to distant future. Also the new updated Triumph Speed Triple RS [and R] look and sound fantastic so it will probably be between those two vying for my hard earned cash.
Thanks for the review ! Great ! What to get in your opinion the CB650R or the CB1000R? Or you cant actually compare the two ? Sorry, i am pretty new to bikes. Thanks again !
I sure hope Honda brings the lovely red color to the U.S. The model you rode was the "+" model which comes with some extra aluminum bits and that good looking read seat cowl.
@@henryhonda8408 The plus version with the seat cowl and windscreen only comes in black in Belgium too. But what's odd is that the standard version is available in red. I wonder why.
Red will replace the black as only color for 2019 here in the US. If you are getting one order the cowl and quick shifter now as they take months to arrive.
Cracking review considering it wasn't planned! I think Honda have got this one just right, looks stunning, just found your channel, quality video, subcribed.
Just a tip, You don't need to release a gas when up shifting with quick shifter. That's why it was a bit jerkey. But it was good first impressions, and bike look stunning.
This one you rode is the R+ model. It comes with the rear seat cowl. The normal R model is without the rear seat cowl :) Of course the R+ model has some other stuff which I cant remember lol
The Plus Model has ; Rear seat cowl Front Light cowl Radiator protector Heated grips Brushed aluminum rear mud guard Quickshifter 2018 Plus Model is not available in the US but you can buy the accessories separately.
I am curious of your opinion. I have been riding a 2016 ninja 650r for about 2yrs now and put about 7,000 miles on it so far. Assuming average rider ability do you think I could baby this along and get used to it? Any advice helps.
Interesting to get the perspective of someone who doesn't ride inline fours, but you don't mention its tractability. Leave the exhaust alone. I've been out of England so long now, I'd forgotten how big British registration plates are. Barn doors.
Nice review mate, could you share what inseam you have got? I'm 6.4 and would like to test this one, currently on Gs1200 adventure and would love this bike. I miss a 17 inch wheel and clear air. Aleks
i like how they say ohh my god what an engine when they talk about z1000 ...but when honda with 143hp and 75ft of torque..its not amazing...WTF! this looks dope and goes like one
Hey fish in your opinion what is a good looking affordable 125cc motorbike, I know its a bit low of a cc for what your use too but would be nice to have some input as I'm looking around but not sure what to get at the moment, enjoyed your vid like normal :) Have a good Day.
Cloggsy Goodwin I would say a Grom would be a bad bike to have as your first. They're expensive to buy and repair because of the demand of them and they aren't actually good bikes for a beginner. From people I know, a Grom is more fun and more enjoyable after doing your full licence and having it as a second bike.
jwkzzr I’d agree, but Mr Fish is 6’2” & 16 stones & other than the Grom I don’t believe Mr Fish will have ridden much else... Personally, I’d recommend an old CB125 or a Chinese 125 to ‘learn’ on, then move on to something bigger as soon as... The Bullet Hero or Herald Maverick (both the same bike) looks cracking IMHO 👍🏻👌🏻
I've never owned an I4 but I've test ridden the old model CB1000R. My street triple was like riding a tractor compared to it. Really slick and kind of feels like I'd imagine a V12 performance car would be like. Gearbox was super responsive and like butter. I have been waiting for this new model for about 9 years and love what they've done looks wise. I'm going to have to really dig deep to find excuses not to buy it.
I started with v-twins, 3 bikes. My 4th was the previous cb1000r and i will never ever ride a v-twin again. The inline 4s are so smooth. I definitely regret not riding one earlier. Can't deny the tourque of v-twins but a 1 litre inline 4 will have plenty. Ride safe ''
Nice Review Mr Fish; thanks; like you i prefer adventure bikes; i own a CB500X; but i think i could fall in love with the CB1000R naked if i could afford to possessed more than one bike 😉
Thanks for the review And yes,, the suspension can't be changed on the fly and i hate u. Joking aside,, great review,, can't wait for my black cb1000r to arrived,, maybe a month,, very excited
It's not tempting me from my 1290 SDR,feel like Honda are getting walked over of late by other manufacturers, they seem to of got lazy. This "new" CB1000R uses a 12 year old Blade motor, this is ment to be a flagship bike, does look smart though. Honda used to build some of the best bikes in the world many moons ago and now there just churning out mediocre bikes built and outsourced outside of Japan for cost savings and QC and R&D seems to take a back seat now. Wish they would get back to what I remember as I still have a soft spot for Honda, but for the time been it's orange all the way for me.
Different market to the super duke , I wouldn't put it in the same category honda aim at the masses , Haven't ridden the KTM but everyone I've met that has one says its the nuts
The chronicles of mr fish Fella you need to try a Super Duke! I have owned and ridden all sorts and I can not fault the KTM,it's like a Swiss army knife bike, seriously... I easily get over 200 miles to a tank,it's like a piss cat round town its happy on the motorway and you don't get any dirty air off it at speed which helps on longer stints and you barley need to touch the throttle to get up to license loosing speeds. I easily get 60MPG and that's not riding like a learner but neither is it riding like my hair is on fire, not sure how KTM have managed to make 1300cc V Twin be this good on fuel and easy to ride but they have. I myself came from 66 plate Africa Twin before I had the KTM,I know you can't compare the two bikes but thats how good the KTM is. If your a track addict the V4 Tuono is a better bet but for the street the KTM wins hands down in my opinion.
Adam Nagel I indeed get high 50's to low 60's out of my Super Duke for normal road riding. I didn't believe the trip meter at first so I topped off the tank and did it the old fashioned way at next fill up. The trip is showing an average of just over 64MPG,my mate has the exact same bike,we took delivery on the same day and he also is getting comparable MPG's to me. I also got nearly 230 miles from a tank before I didn't dare go past another petrol station, and even then I only put just over 17 litres in it and it's an 18 liter tank! I mentioned the MPG to my dealer two weeks back when it went for its first service and he said it's not uncommon for these bike to return these figures if ridden normally. I do ride like Miss Daisy most of the time I'll admit!
Philip Roberts you must never do over 50mph. I would trust the numbers other people post on apps such as fuelly that show average mileages around high 30s to 40s for the that bike. And there are quite a few of those that document that average over many fuel ups.
I really do not understand why they make cable clutched bikes... i hate cables.... yes i know it has a quickshifter but that may not be the reason... it's cheap and ugly... the rest of the bike is just beautiful... nice review. Also the AT has one... it's a shame.
I had a cb650 and use to love it . Now I have my Cb1000r 2022 . It’s honestly the next level. She is perfect
Thanks for adding, You are 6" 2" and the bike fits well

Honda really do have their ethos down
Very good looking bike. 143hp, 76 ft lbs torque, MORE than enough. Home run Honda.

Slow to get to dealerships? The '18 CB650F hit Canadian dealerships at the start of Sept '17... Unless you're talking inventory replacement?
Honda baby, sexy, they ride forever, and t price is right, u can never go wrong with a honda bike

Great bike, man. I'm amazed at just how many bikes are coming from the factory with quick shifters. Times have certainly changed.
the first one I've used , I'm sold
Thumb Up !
And a special thanks for opening that pillion-seat cover to see what "room" is available under it !
Thanks for the review ! Great ! What to get in your opinion the CB650R or the CB1000R? Or you cant actually compare the two ? Sorry, i am pretty new to bikes. Thanks again !

Only in black in Canada, I'm so disappointed. Honda is cheap with their colours here in Canada

Can do longer test rides for both Honda CB650R & CB1000R - 🙏
It look's so much nicer in red than the grey.
Great honest review , how to you go with the narrow handlebars and high foot pegs ? being a bigger sized bloke

I love this bike watching this has made my mind up the CB1000R has got to be my next bike . Doble motorcycles Be back soon. Thanks Fish
I do like the look of the new cb1000r and the dash is something special 😍
The candy red looks goooooood.
The paint is really nice quality
One of the problems is all 3 of the colours are so nice it's hard to choose.
No choice in Canada, it's either black, black or black lol
I am curious of your opinion. I have been riding a 2016 ninja 650r for about 2yrs now and put about 7,000 miles on it so far. Assuming average rider ability do you think I could baby this along and get used to it? Any advice helps.
In person this looks amazing espcaillly the red it's hypnotic.
This came up on my TH-cam feed this evening; fun to watch knowing in two years you'll score on one. :D
I realize I am kinda off topic but do anyone know a good place to stream new series online ?
thanks for the review, no need to apologise for the review, liked it

Tractability ? as in handling and ease of control ?
No as in how the engine pulls in a high gear from low revs. If you would please?
Didn't really get to test that sorry , i would guess it would be ok but maybe not as good as a twin
I viewed another road test from an Aussie and the vlogger said it pulled like crazy in low & medium revs

Coming from CBR500R, I can't decide which one to get, this one or R1200GS
Great video ... Beautiful bike
I've got one.. great bike but paint finish on the frame is shit. Mine has rust by the top rear shock mount already , at 2400 miles..

I would probably say, go for an MT125 (go for the ABS model), CBR125 or the YZF-R125, or maybe even the new Honda CB125.
jwkzzr thank you for the advise I realy do like the YZF and am realy going to consider it when I get the money/licence

MT10 or Honda cb1000? which is better you think?
Havent ridden the yamaha , I was booked to take the mt10 sp out when in the us but they didn't want me filming so i didn't bother , test ride both

Great looking naked bike, are they going to sell it here in the States I wonder?
I would think so , they sold the outgoing model , ask your dealer
It's listed on the American Honda website at $12,999
Yes, seeing it. Can't say I've ever seen one on the road. But it must be said, my beloved countrymen perplex me with their taste in motorbikes.
I wish I could walk into a dealership and just be offered a chance to test ride an awesome bike
your next bike maybe?

How can you make the seat more comfortable? Thanks.
buy a gel pad or air hawk
The chronicles of mr fish good, I’ll look into that
A local test ride

Might have mentioned it

Right up your street scott ?

Holy crap!!! He was flying there, do you have a death wish for Mr Fish? lol
The word is assume not fkn ashume
Cool looking bike, but because Honda seems to neuter all of their machines lately I will have to take a pass. Now, if it had 20-30 more HP.......
its a real world naked , its fast enough for me
What do they 'neuter' ? Also, It's a naked! Why on earth would you want 170hp!? It has more power than the Z1000SX in your profile pic!!!
If it had 140hp at the rear wheel it would make the choice a lot easier to make.
