Love that you give props to Declaration! Original creations that have been around for awhile and still decently priced and yet are somehow still overlooked! You know what ? That would be a great video idea if you haven't done it already: a list of original fragrances from designer houses that have been around for a while but are still modern AND unique!

You just seem so honest and straightforward. I like how you stray away from the mainstream and instead shine the limelight on lesser known fragrances. I just recently got into fragrances and it's with your channel that I feel I've found the real fragrance community that discuss and share their opinions instead of pandering to the masses with what is the current hit or which fragrance are the best "panty droppers" thank you so much for sharing your timeless fragrances. I am currently searching for a fragrance that I can use as a signature fragrance so I will definitely be trying these out.

Great list. Finally tried Reflection this past year and really liked it. I gotta say, though, that Happyland makes a frag called Shadowland that is strikingly similar but with a bit more iris and extra darker tones. If you were ever into comics, I think of Reflection as Superman and Shadowland as the evil, Bizarro Superman. Definitely try it if you haven't.
Still need to try out Timbuktu. Have heard great things about that one for a long time but it seems to be out of stock every time I think about it.

Got around to Ganymede and objectively don't get why anybody would be interested in an overdose of habanolide in their fragrance. But I do agree with you that we are now seeing brands try to get their way into habanolide-filled fragrances, best example is Matiere Premiere's 2022 release Crystan Saffron which is mainly just saffron & habanolide. Bisch successfully managed to bring depth to Ganymede and Guichard did the same with Crystal Saffron. I think Ingredients 07/2012 from Maison Crivelli does something similar, but that one is largely built on akigalawood. Will say that I appreciate you putting me onto MAB though since I sampled the entire brand and Encelade landed 7th on my 2022 list. Looking forward to getting a bottle of that once some sort of a deal pops up at an official stockist.
If we're looking to just include scents that aren't the most popular, but from successful brands: Initio's Blessed Baraka (great winter dumb-reach), Xerjoff's Tony Iommi (it's been booming, but will likely go far higher), Kilian's Back to Black (just like Straight to Heaven, an inbetweener in terms of popularity/visibility), Amouage's Overture (everyone knows Reflection, Jubilation, Interlude). 5th I'd also either include Royal Oud or maybe Nefs which does price people out tbf.
For women, I'd say Initio's Musk Therapy, Atelier des Ors' Lune Feline, Xerjoff's La Capitale, BDK's Gris Charnel (still early on this), and Kayali's Vanilla 28 (brand that is gaining recognition fast).

I just got a sample of Timbuktu: I get an very clean smelling soapy scent, I get Vetiver, very hidden incense. I really would like to smell the green mango, but I don't get it (maybe later, when I smelled it more often). But I really, really like it and I think I will buy a bottle of it.

Houbignant Boise mystique is very close to the feeling of Creeds Royal oud. The quality is just as good and I’d dare say one could pick one or the other if someone was interested in buying royal oud. It’s fresh a bit greener in the start and the oud is replaced with a faint incense which is where the comparison to royal oud is most noticeable and the bottle is absolutely gorgeous. One of the nicest in my collection give it a try.

Hey, I took your referral and got a discovery set from "ARGOS" primarily because of Triumph of Bacchus, which I'm glad I did. It smells fantastic, and I'm working my way down the line on the other 7. But I can only do one a day because my senses need help to differentiate if I smell too many in a short time. But thanks for the referral. Love the content.

Hey, Justin - Declaration? All I get is body odour. It could be a part of Secretions Manifique. I guess it’s the Cardamom. Meanwhile, how about testing scents when tried alone and then in concert with something juxtaposed - Say, an Oud fragrance after something blue? The effect on the pallet is noticeable and can change our perceptions…

Cartier... Bitter orange, cardamom, cumin.... Woah sign my up! I think it was cumin they removed from the initial batch of LNDL but people didn't like it at the time so they reformulated it to lean more on lavender than caraway and took the cumin out. I've missed that spicy-powdery scent. You've turned me onto Cartier.

Happy New Year Justin. I agree with you about Royal Oud, a very recent discovery of mine. I had somehow discounted it for years before getting a sample in December. One sniff later and that was it. Thankfully I've been able to order a 50ml decant at a fraction of the price. I'm not bothered that I won't have the original presentation. Its what inside that counts. I was able to pick up Dior Ambre Nuit and YSL Tuxedo the same way. All part of maximising my collection whilst keeping expenditure as low as possible. I'm still not on board with Fahrenheit or Ganymede though. 🙊🙊🙊

Reflection Man is my favourite in this whole list. Loved my sample and until I can cop a bottle, I may buy a bigger sample of it. Declaration is ok, but its not enough to get me to buy it. L'Envol on the other hand, is my favourite Cartier to date. I recall smelling Fahrenheit years ago and it does have that petrol like smell, but it wasn't bad.
I may try Ganymeade in the future, as well as Straight to Heaven

Great Video, totally agree about Declaration though I prefer L'homme Ideal Intense. Straight to Heaven is unique, it is beast mode too. Terre D'Hermes is amazing. Fahrenheit is my absolute favorite from the house, I don't think they even came close before or after flankers included. Royal Oud I never gave it a full wearing, and my personal favorite from Creed so far is Bois Du Portugal. I don't recall smelling Interlude, I never cared for JPG perfumes, but to me Beach Hut Man Jubilation XXV, Bracken Man, and Royal Tobacco (weird and cloying as it is) are my favorites probably in that order. Timbuktu, Gynamide and Chergui I haven't seen in Dubai. Never smelled Oligarch, but my favorite Rojas are Danger and Scandal. To my mind Ricci Club, Halfeti Leather and Bois Marocain could be in this category.

If you “exclude associations” then everything is timeless?
I think woody scents, incense, citrus tend to be tight or as timeless more because associations to those things tend to be more broad and timeless themselves.

Masterpiece is a bit overused and overhyped in the English speaking world. Let us explain: back in ye olden days when men still performed artisan crafts in their own little workshops. They were the masters and they had apprentices. Apprentices began with menial labour and slowly built their skills until one day they had to show that they could perform as good as their master. To show that, they made their masterpiece. It shows that they are a master too. It marks the beginning, not the pinnacle of their "career".

You know these fragrances are blended by perfumers that have slowly mastered their craft too, right? Perfumery is the crossroad of an artistic vision and scientific application.

It certainly resembles Ganymede, but they're sufficiently different to warrant owning both. I personally think Ganymede is more refined, but Bois Imperial is more mainstream, more accessible.

I really need to get my nose/hands on Declaration. One of the few classics I've never sniffed (or accidentally without knowing). Terre D'Hermes on the other hand, I respect but just can't stand. This thing is so aggressive to me. Just like smothering my face in bitter oranges, lol. Fantastic list, still. 👍
