      People have been learning music from others people's music for all time. This is nothing new. I learned to play guitar by learning to play other people's songs. It is how it works. AI is no different. Just better at learning it and applying it. And, it will only get better at it.

    • @ratatatuff
      @ratatatuff 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@vintagemusic-y7z No, that's not how it works. I learnt guitar by learning scales, chords, arpeggios, theory, etc.
      AI is just talking parts of other people's work and puts it together a little bit different. The element of creativity is completely absent. AI is basically just theft.

    • @vintagemusic-y7z
      @vintagemusic-y7z 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You are simplifying it way too much. And your telling me you never played a song while learning your instrument? Ludicrous. I also learned scales etc. just like songwriters learn to write songs by listening to other songs. There is a formula that works. There are standard chord progressions that work. All music is theft to a certain extent. People transcribe the playing of great musicians they look up to and learn from that, those musicians learned by sitting in front of the ones they loved and stole from them . I understand the arguments. People are upset that a computer can create a great sounding song with a trumpet solo that sounds fully improvised and not a note for note ripoff of anything. AI learns how that works by listening to others. Just as jazz musicians have done since the beginning of the genre.

    • @ratatatuff
      @ratatatuff 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@vintagemusic-y7z Learn to read. There's a difference between AI & Jazz musicians: creativity and feel. No, not all music is theft. That's just what the pop industry wants you to believe.

    • @vintagemusic-y7z
      @vintagemusic-y7z 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Everything in music has been built on the backs of those that came before it. That is all I am saying. You don't have to call it theft and just call it inspiration. I have heard and generated some very impressive music on suno that has all the feel you could want in it. I see the day in the not too distant future that some musicians will be out of a job when it comes to advertising and some other television cues business. An ad agency could I put their jingles lyrics and get a nice piece of music for a fraction of the cost of licensing it. That sucks but the genie is out of the bottle. Every iteration of the AI will get better at fooling us all. I don't like arguing. I can certainly see your side. I work with an AI at my job that is being trained on our data. It gets smarter every day. Quite an amazing tool.

      Absolutely, the rise of AI in music is definitely going to shake things up on platforms like Spotify! However, I believe there's room for both established artists and new forms of AI music. Personally, I’m not looking to replace traditional artists but to add to the diversity of what’s available. Think of it like Alvin and the Chipmunks for the modern era-AI characters with unique personalities, like Suno and Udio, who bring something fun and different to the music scene. It’s all about expanding our musical horizons, not limiting them. Great insights in the video!

    I released a few demos with Suno with lyrics I wrote myself. I'm honestly not satisfied with not producing the songs myself, at least partly. Currently working on producing new versions that use much more of my own touch. Some AI will be used, mostly with vocals because I hate my own voice. But I really want my own touch to the music, beyond the lyrics.
    AI should not be used for creating serious productions, at least not entirely. It's one thing to use some AI but still have your own touch to it, but to just have computers do it all and then release it as art is just soulless and stupid. I have some AI songs on my channel, yes, but those were just created as a gag. It's pop country with lyrics about Information Technology. But I'm not making money off of royalties with those. They were created as a joke. I hate bro country, don't care about the genre whatsoever, and did not want to waste any effort on something that is meant to be just a funny gag.

    Can't get a copyright for any of it. You AI'd the whole damn thing. Even the cover art. Had you at least written the lyrics and fed those to the AI to generate the music for the track. Then you could copyright the lyrics portion of the song. You can make money off the track. just can't protect the track with the legal might of copyright. Anyone can use any and all of the track in their works without worries for compensation of any royalties to you. All you can collect is what you directly get setup for revenue streams. No outreach from DistroKid say on to someone's TH-cam channel that posts this track has to worry about real legalities. I'm sure there will be false copyright notices spammed. • @viviangendernalik
      @viviangendernalik 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AiDIYTECH yes there is, on copyright dot gov they have faqs that explain their decision, and they detail that it has to be created by a human, and that prompting is not considered created by a human because copyright gov interprets the final production to be still all created by the ai. So they detail that what the human has created is the only part that can be copyrighted. So say you wrote the lyrics ,and prompted ai to do the music, you will fill that out on the copyright form, and the copyright office will approve copyright for the lyrics, but the music will not be copyrighted, but it will be noted to be ai created. So, in effect, you are listed to be the copyright owner for the lyrics part of the song. I have no idea how something like that can be marketed; all the same, since streaming pays garbage, in a way, it doesn't matter, as we are now giving away our labor in essence. Still if you endeavor to put this on spotify, it is better to take the ai music, and use it as inspiration to create your own, then you can claim ownership on the music as well. Still, you are working to get $0.003 per stream, and as of now, Spotify is not paying anything at all to artists who have less than 1,000 streams per month. So, as of April 2024, any song you put on Spotify will get you $0 each and ever month you have less than 1,000 streams. Those streams do not accumulate each passing month, but reset at 0 each new month, so it even more has become a losing effort to make money as an artist. And now this ai strategy to flood streaming platforms already flooded may cause other platforms to copy spotify to pay $0 if streams are less than 1,000, effectively making music as a profession, a joke due to massive saturation.

So it’s the industry that wants to stop my creativity, and the artist say I’m the problem. It broadly says something like "If no human interaction in your art". But other than this song, I've done things to more than just the lyrics. I've done some audio editing and enhancements. So even though the music is sung by and the instruments are played by ai, there's still a lot of involvement on my part. Spotify and the music publishers don't ask and don't seem to care if ai have a hand in your production. So go ahead and ask for payments. It takes a long time to build up a payment though. @dagga07 What if you only use the AI to generate songs you've written lyrics for and then simply using the AI output as a template for live musicians to expand upon further? Surely THAT could be copyrighted?

    Hi! great content! I have some questions. What will happen if I upload the song from free Suno to Distrokid to be distributed to Spotify? Will the music get banned? Is there any other distributors approve AI music?
    Thank you in advance!

      if you do that you will probably be sued for a lot of money first by suno as they say you cannot use any music you generate if you only have a free account. second distrokid because you cannot register music with them if you dont own it. andyou cannot own it as you cannot copyright a.i. generated work.

      Hi, sorry for the late reply.
      I did read the terms a while back. I believe with Suno, if you have a paid subscription, it's yours and they mentioned that you don't have to credit. But say something along the lines of "But it would be nice". (Terms change, so have a look).
      The free version, they require you to give them credit.

      @@AiDIYTECH The credit is in the watermark, having a free account and not crediting them, for instance downloading an audio file from them, would be poor form. As for 'Muh ownership' and all that gibberish, they may have legal title, but as for equitable title, they can't make without clients. Obviously SONY et al are going to take judges on vaykay with their 'advocats', in bikinis, and sometimes not, but as to whether they'd be right would merely be their opinion. Let's say the tech wasn't wrapped up in iron clad monopoly world, and people had genuine means to freely express, using SUNO, how much are they going to make when they're a literal household name. Jack and Jane from down the lane could host their own original parties for free, using music they've created, why would you want to spoil Jack and Jane's fun just because of the money? If there's means to make, super, and when there's means to offset it with fame, then even superer. Look at charities, their basic idea was to help people freely, look at the size now of that industry, it's a no brainer. Sure, if you have servers to pay for etc, then yeah, you need to balance the books, but when your like Samsung, and have $300 trillion that you don't know what to do with, then it's time to do the right thing. SUNO sponsored by Samsung for a better world?

    Not only does it dilute the pot but it literally steals from genuine artists who are already *massively* struggling. Take a good look in the mirror and give your head a wobble mate - this is just embarrassing.

      Hope you're not using chat gpt or any sort of ai that borrows from other sources and people who have contributed to those sources. Or is it just bad if using ai for music? Just asking.

    This is an insult and a betrayal to the human musicians your software is stealing from. All you are doing is leaching royalties away from people who actually earned them. It's only a matter of time until all music on Spotify made in the 2020's is ineligible for royalties.
