How to make DIY Mica sprays in minutes

I love finding ways to create my own DIY craft supplies and my Mica sprays are one of my favourites. It creates such an incredible shine to my cards that always make the cards feel extra special. They are also so versatile and fun to use. You can create similar style cards with anything you have at home.

- Mica Powders (I personally use a range of cheaper brands and this technique has worked with all the brands I have tried so far)
- The Paper Mill Mixing Fluid (This is my preferred brand of mixing fluid but if you try another brand let me know how it goes)

This is a great DIY. I am a bit stumped. I want to make my own sprays - i have a ton of dye powders as well as all the little pearl ex mica pots and I would like to utilize some of them into sprays. I am just curious, do you have any idea what the mixing fluid does in this solution? I am asking because I am not really wanting to order the paper mill stuff.
I thought I would ask to see if you had any idea what might be similar to that fluid?

Hi Malkavian thank you so much for watching. That's so exciting that you have so many powders. Unfortunately I am not to sure of what the product contains. I have tried numerous other mediums that glue it down but they would still rub off even once dry. My only other thought would be if you use another type of glue to adhere it you would then need to spray it with a sealer. Good Luck 😊 let me know if you find anything else that works

Grab the cheap Mica powder eyeshadow from the dollar store - I've been using it for years and it works great!

@headlessviolin hello thank you for reaching out. It is made in Australia and sold by Riot art and craft and they have it listed on their eBay account as well. I would recommend reaching out to them on ebay but if they don't ship internationally I can find out how much postage is and put it up on my ebay account for you to access 😊

Unfortunately the mixing fluid is unavailable in Canada, I would have definitely bought some. It sounds like a really good product. ☹️

I loved your video on making your own mica sprays, however I can't find paper mill mixing fluid, any idea where I can find it, I'm in US, or any substitutes that would work . Many thank's Leandra

Is there anything I can add to to prevent the mica from clumping? I started testing essential oils with alcohol but anytime I add the mica there's clumps that I cannot dissolve 😭 help

Hi Teresa I don't have any experience of mixing mica powders with oils however I have heard of people premixing mica with linseed oil so you could try that but I have no idea if it works
