Blues Brothers 2000 is a 1998 American musical comedy film which is a sequel to the 1980 film The Blues Brothers, written and produced by John Landis and Dan Aykroyd.
Directed by Landis, the film stars Aykroyd and John Goodman, with cameo appearances by various musicians.
The film is dedicated to John Belushi, Cab Calloway, and John Candy, cast members from the original film who had died prior to the sequel's production, as well as Junior Wells, who died one month before it was released. Unlike the first film, Blues Brothers 2000 received generally mixed reviews, and was a box-office bomb, grossing around $14 million on a budget of $30 million.

At least Weekend at Bernies 2 had Steve James, one of his last film roles.

I remember seeing this in the theatre when I was 8 years old. My older brother and I used to watch the original on VHS religiously and we were so excited to see Blues Bros 2000. After we saw it we went, “That wasn’t as good as the first one.”

I was a teenager when it came out, having been brought up on the Blues Brothers by my mum. I was excited about watching it in the cinema, but when it got to the shaving foam sequence I remember squirming in my seat.

I have never seen blues brothers 2000. I really enjoy the actual blues brothers movie with John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. I absolutely love that film. The blues brothers is a really great fun dramedy. It is such a perfect flick in my opinion. I got 2 questions to ask you. If you ever got to meet any celebrity in the world, which movie celebrities would you like to meet? Who is your favorite film celebrity?

I feel sooooooo strongly about this one because I remember thinking the trailer was awesome because of the Peter Gunn theme which is synonymous with the franchise being played in it and I felt really let down by this, and also yeah they don't explain how Jake died, the movie is dedicated to John Belushi, John Candy and Cab Callohan. With all the studio meddling and everything it's no wonder it turned out how it did, and after this Landis mainly stuck to doing tv shows like the Honey I Shrunk the Kids show and numerous episodes of other shows. It's no wonder Dan regrets being in this one alone with Exit to Eden, Neighbors, and Loose Cannons. Although to be fair Neighbors and Loose Cannons don't even belong in that list. And also yeah we've seen John Goodman sing on Roseanne, on the Monsters Inc soundtrack, and also in the Righteous Gemstones and he's good at it, but I also think Dan's Elwood accent was a bit more exaggerated this time as opposed to the first. Yeah and the voodoo queen scene, sounds like it was trying to be a reference to Thriller, I don't know...I think Thriller when it comes to dancing zombies (and not that stupid musical Disney Channel original movie franchise Z-O-M-B-I-E-S), it's just always the first thing that comes to mind. I think the original flopped but it became a hit on home video and tv airings. And Landis in Q&A sessions pretty much says he disowns this movie. And also yeah, the soundtrack is on Spotify, you can definitely listen to it on there.

'Ghost Riders In The Sky' was the best song in this film and I think one of the best covers of that song.

I remember seeing this in the cinema when I was 15 and (much like you Matt, with A Good Day to Die Hard) I had to lie to myself that it was better than it was, because deep down... I was (to quote The Lord Humongous) gravely disapointed. Blues Brothers 2000 and The Avengers (which came out later that summer) made me realize how untrustworthy trailers often are.

I haven't seen this movie in a decade I only watched it once I don't even remember the movie I remember not liking it though. Anyway, Blues Brothers never needed a sequel like most films it needed to be a one-off like Halloween and others but unlike Halloween, I can have fun with some of those sequels because there is slasher fun with this no.

I absolutely love the first Blues Brothers, it's one of my all time favourite movies but this movie was a massive disappointment.

18:34 My guess it was Dan Aykroyd bro?
Awesome job on the rant for a sequel I never bothered to watch to a film I always felt is very overrated IMHO.

A lame sequel that should have never been made in the first place. The first Blues Brothers is a great movie and you just can't replace Belushi no matter who you got for the role.

@Dylan Morris Exactly! They should have just left it alone.

I never liked Siskel and Ebert with how over the top and hateful and mean spirited they acted toward slasher films I never got into them yes I get why they were popular with how they were the first to do movie talks but I never cared for their opinions on movies and how Ebert wanted to give out Betsy Palmers address and asked fans to write hate mail.

Must have been a cash grab? They didn't have a kid in part one. Why they need a kid in part 2? Didn't make any sense. You hit the nail on the hit! Wast of time! P.S. Steven Spielberg any no angle... I heard he intentionally left town to avoid going to trail about the Twilight Zone accident. Used excuse he had to go over seas to start a new movie. So he couldn't be reached. I agree I liked weekend at Bernies part 1 & 2 better then this garbage! 😀

Another useless sequel. It was 1998, most people didn't even know who the Blues Brothers were by then. Blues Brothers were cool on SNL in the late 70s and the first movie was a hit. But by the 90s no kid knew who they were or cared. And aside from the hats, most kids would think it's a Men in Black rip-off. John Landis as a director was shit by the time the 90s started. He should have just retired. Nobody asked for a Blues Brothers 2000 movie. When I saw the poster for this I was like "really" then I watched the movie and was like "well that happened" . It was beyond meh 🤨
