Buu saga was great. Most memorable moments in the entire show. Also Buu saga the best character writing in the show. Goku was at his most nuanced. Vegeta was at his absolute best. Fat Buu + Hercule's relationship growth was incredible The expansion of the Celestial mythos was slight but meaningful and not freakin unnecessarily convoluted like Super Super shouldve expanded on what was already there instead of creating God of Destructions annd angels and zeno and all that nonsense that destoyed the entire canon of the show

I don’t understand how people can hate on dragon ball. They call it corny for having a bunch of overused tropes, but this show created basically all of them.
The way Goku introduces himself to his son is honestly perfect in terms of characterization. He just simply walks up to him, tells him his name and says hi, which perfectly fits Goku’s honest and straightforward personality. He doesn’t try to influence Goten by telling him "Hey I’m your dad!", he just says who he is like he would for anyone else and let’s Goten make the first move. Now THAT’S great character writing, and it’s unfortunate that this is technically a filler scene considering that it doesn’t happen in the manga…

It's a heartwarming scene. Goku reunites with his friends, all in tears of joy as they see him back. Goku also reunites with his wife and sees a small child behind her. Goku already knows it's his son, and as the joking but caring person he is, calls him a "little me". Then the child looks at Goku and says "I'm Goten". Instead of using the bleak "I'm your Dad", Goku says his name. Goten takes a minute to realize that this is his father - his father who he hadn't gotten to meet before. What a joyful scene.
I like how loyal chichi is like some girls can’t go a month with out cheating and she stayed loyal for seven year with a man who doesn’t ever get the meaning of sex

Same.. it's interesting rewatching this scene how much my perspective changed. I cried at 12 picturing how much I would have missed my dad if I were Goten. I'm crying again at 33 picturing being separated from my babies.
Goku meeting Goten was the emotional climax of this scene, but where it starts to really get to me.....is Bulma. She and Goku were the first. She's known him longer than all of them, and seeing her dearest friend she thought she would never met again, she isnt just happy. She is in awe. "....It's him..." She is overwhelmed by the idea he is back. Their friendship was always something I appreciated, and seeing her private moment of joy for his was so heartwarming for me.
The moment Goten comes up to Goku after all that. We fathers could live in that moment for all our life. Our son/daughter in our arms with pure intention of being with you and loving you.
I remember watching this as a kid and relating to Goten, how much I would have missed my dad. Now I see myself as Goku in this scene; I can't imagine the pain of being separated from my kids and only having a brief moment to show your love.
Always loved this part in the anime, since it is so cute to see Goku getting to see Goten and interact with him for the first time, but his showing him the love he has for Chi-Chi and Gohan, even if this is the first time he's met his youngest son face-to-face.
Super makes Goku extra stupid because the memes have made the writers actually believe he's incapable of being smart, in Super he might have said, "Hey! I think there's a little me hiding behind your leg, Chi Chi... how is it that I am there [points at Goten] and also here?"🤔
While this is one of my favorite moments, whenever I see Bulma’s face at 2:30, I always feel sad for her. She looks at the love and happiness that Goku and Goten are sharing when they just met each other and I feel like she only wishes that Trunks could receive that kind of unconditional love from Vegeta.
Vegeta does love trunks unconditionally the thing is he isn't able to show it , consider it more like tough love . Vegeta also kills himself for trunks and Bulma knows it that's why she never argues on that topic.
My son is 8 months old and he is a spitting image of me. I loved the scene back when I was a kid but after rewatching now, it has a whole different meaning to me. Brought a tear to my eye.

It's a heartwarming scene. Goku reunites with his friends, all in tears of joy as they see him back. Goku also reunites with his wife and sees a small child behind her. Goku already knows it's his son, and as the joking but caring person he is, calls him a "little me". Then the child looks at Goku and says "I'm Goten". Instead of using the bleak "I'm your Dad", Goku says his name. Goten takes a minute to realize that this is his father - his father who he hadn't gotten to meet before. What a joyful scene.

She and Goku were the first. She's known him longer than all of them, and seeing her dearest friend she thought she would never met again, she isnt just happy.
She is in awe.
