Clean install and the best mod ive see so far you have add the ground!!! most people use only magnetic mount butr they make poor ground, i've use lookalike method but i0ve scraped paint on the screw to better contact (and add nail trasparent gel for insulation and prevent rust)
i forgot to mention ive use a ton fo ferrite core an toroid for power cable, my diesel jeep make a lot of noise on hf band when driving or the first 10 minut after parking
Pretty cool and simple Darryl! HF mobile is fantastic part of hamradio and seriously DX hunting with minimum cost for skillfull operator. Hope to "catch"" you one day. 👍 73, S51X
@@PrimulaCarniolica simple seems to get it done in this instance! Needs some fine tuning of course, but I'm always moving stuff around and experimenting so nothing is ever permanent! With this setup, only 20w, I've been into Japan, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, France, seems to work pretty good, but the good bad conditions I'm sure are helping too! 73!
That's quite the ghetto setup for your 10m antenna. Since you have your G90 mounted in your car, do you have another HF radio in your home shack? I plan on building a portable GO box using a G90 in spring time. My wallet needs to recover from Black Friday shopping for radio gear. 😁
It may be ghetto, but it works great! I don't operate at home on HF (unless I'm sitting in my car) but my neighbourhood especially has a decently bad noise floor. I do run hamsticks (15, 20m, 80m usually) on this mag mount as well. I currently have this HF setup along with an FX4CR Kit that I run out of a backpack for POTA/SOTA that I use a 6 band inverted v-dipole and 23ft Sotabeams mast. Sometimes I will swap the G90 into my Cherokee in basically the same configuration, depends on the adventure.
@@darryldowney true! i currently have a Ford Focus and got it for 1500$. the usual automatic version is a lemon and they are all in the scrap yard. the automatic version of that car sells for 4000$ here. lololol as always the syncros are burnt, and the shift tower is loose but its still working alright.
Great video, love the setup, it gets you results, thats the important part
@@VE7GGH thanks Greg! Yep, results are decent, not as good as setting up my 100ft inverted v, but good enough to make a few hundred qso's off my roof.
