Please don't ask me questions about LU accommodation, visa, jobs/career, scholarships, or other programs. I've received a lot of questions about administrative things that I don't know the answers to, and all of this info can be found on the LU website OR by contacting the university directly :)
This video is about my life in lund as a student, not how to get into the university, and everything i know is already in the video! I can only reply to questions about my personal experience and clarifications about things i mentioned in the video.
I'm sorry i can't help more! Anything that's related to administration, admissions and other uni stuff can be found online or by contacting the right people. Good luck! 😌🌸

Lund is a very old city with its history going back till 990 AD.
It means that the Lund stands tall, proud and firm for more than thousand years.

So nice!! Having lived in Lund myself, I feel like your representation of it is quite accurate. I would add: the bus system is actually pretty good, for short rides you can have access to bigger parks, nice hikes, forests, lakes, and beaches such as Lomma (the closest one to Lund, a 40min bike ride).
    Loved your video!

I would add that if you intend tu study at lund university you will have access to the nations (student groups, kind of like frat/ sorority houses but they are mixed) the nations also have their own clubs and bars that you can go to as a student for a lower cost than regular bars and clubs. Also the drinks there are much cheaper than other places. :)

Thank you for your very helpful information. I am helping my son do research about studying in Europe (Sweden). I am a German citizen, my wife is a US citizen with a Chinese/Vietnamese background and my son is a US and German (EU) citizen. I see Lund as a strong contender because of its location (close to Malmo and Copenhagen; fairly close to Germany) As such, feedback from people who have actually lived and studied there is invaluable (even more so, if it from someone with a diverse background like yours!)
When I look at studying in Sweden, I am particularly fond of the research-focused studying and the student nations. I have to be honest here: I have always seen fraternities as something undesirable, but student nations seem to just focus on the positive aspects.
    So, I have two questions:
    1. Did you join a student nation while you studied in Lund? And, if you did, which one did you choose and why? I have looked at most of them, but some provide more information than others. My current (likely limited) impression is that Malmo nation is somewhat party-focused (nothing wrong with that!), the East/West Gota nations are less international (perfectly fine, this is Sweden after all!) and Lunds nation is somewhat more balanced. I just love it that they provide services (impressive and well-priced food from an American perspective; great events and night clubs for dancing) for students provided by students. Where were you when I was studying? ;)
    2. How much Swedish should one know. Here I always feel that one should make an effort to learn some language regardless if you are just visiting. What about you? Did you learn Swedish before you went or did you just pick up some Swedish while living there?
Thank you for the information your channel provides and for taking the time to read and, maybe, respond to my questions. I do realize that this video is already one year old...

    • @teawithromy
      @teawithromy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi :) Thanks for your comment! to answer your questions:
      1. I was part of wermlands nation because i was teaching yoga there. I rarely attended their events, or any nations events though. I enjoyed going to Smalands because it's more alternative! What you choose will be based on your preferences and what kind of events you like to go to. But you can easily visit the nations and talk to the members when you're there.
      2. I did not make any efforts to learn Swedish to be honest... I just knew how to say hello/bye and thank you. I knew I was there temporarily and learning a language I'm not passionate about takes a lot of effort for me, so I chose to put my energy in other things :) But i would encourage anyone to learn the local language ofc, you get more out of the 'living abroad' experience.
      Take care!

But some nation events dont require a student ID so you would be able to join i think.. most of my friends are actually classmates and my roommates so im not the best person to ask! Hi :) i don’t think age matters, its more about what you enjoy and what you’re looking for! I’m 24 and i’ve done student life during my bachelor’s so now, i’m not involved much but that was my choice! If you choose to invest your time and energy in student life, you definitely will meet other students you connect with! Regardless of your age 🌸 also if you’re doing a masters, you’ll be around people your age (the people in my class are between 22 and 30)
