  • Which wires don't catch on fire... basically...
Are spark plug wires melting all over your shiny new headers??? Are you burning boots on at 425 degrees or whatever temperature? Well, I've got some recommendations for your LS swap.
This is a 1963 Buick Rivera with a 2008 5.3L/4L60E combo - I've swapped on a LS6 intake to clear the hood and to make you beg for more... I used to use O'reilly Auto Parts house brand or Accel straight boots for most of our swaps. I had issues with melting boots on headers with larger primaries and also even with exhaust manifolds if they were flipped forward for some sweet turbo action. Remember, there is a small difference in lengths on different generations of 4.8, 5.3, 6.0's based on the coil design so adjust the part numbers accordingly.

To experiment, I purchased a fiberglass spark plug boot protectors. This particular one is the cheapest I could find on Amazon AND eBay. But Summit racing has a nice set of 8 I'm linking below and I'd trust a little bit more then the one I purchased. SUM-350119BLK

While this experiment was happening I discovered Taylor and Holley both having a really nice angle boot plug that clears lots of header with bigger primaries. Taylor is quite a bit cheaper then Holley but neither have ever failed me and I cannot tell a difference in quality - they are both nice.
