I was actually looking for this as I'm pretty sure I was at this event I think it was the mens one I would have been 8 years old (I think I was on that big stand thing behind a guy holding a czech flag idk why I remember that so clearly 😂) although can't find myself as they don't seem to show the balcony bit

I went to watch this with my Dad, the atmosphere was brilliant, so fun to watch! Was gutted for Liam Killeen, the crowd really got behind the athletes in the last group. Great memory.
if u noticed, smartphonees arent really a common thing yet, and many spectators use cameras instead, really amazing to see how far weve come in these 8 years

I am former mtb racer and stuff happens. It happened to me halfway up a climb. Didnt have the tool to fix it. Luckily it was a two lap race so i climbed and descended the rest of the lap without a saddle. Stopped to get a tool, fixed it and still was able to podium. Granted Junior Expert isn't a large category and rider skills can vary widely but it was quite a setback that I pushed through. My only goal was to finish and the 2nd lap I went hard.

@@hiranom20sure, faster with a saddle. Fast enough to make a difference? Loosing speed already before losing his saddle, the others accelerating... He'd have to do a spectacular and miraculous sprint for that. We can't know.
It's super interesting for me to watch a more enduro style race. I normally watch more downhill stuff, but I'm rather intrigued by this

Francesco Savoini It was a tube made out of carbon, which doesn't do well against hard a and fast collisions. Nobody expected this to happen.
Yes, but this happens more frequently when you put it not enough in the seat tube , usually to save some weight. To this day i don't know if this was the actual reason though.
Francesco Savoini I doubt that few cm of carbon tube would have enough weight to risk it. If it would be alu it would maybe make sense.

How do you recover without a good start in a race like this?
It's a 1,5 hour race. Not a Sprint. You have many openings and opportunities
No expert in MTB, but I personally feel Downhill is more exciting to watch and should be in the Olympics.
I've participated and raced all sorts disciplines of cycling and downhill undoubtedly is the most fun, dangerous, and entertaining of any of them. XC and cyclocross for second

I know that this is mountain biking, but they need to be more specific! This is only cross country, but to people who dont mtb it makes it look like this is all there is to the sport! This is nothing like the rest of mountain biking
True. Although; the 'real' mountainbikers are much faster than the cross country / cyclocross specialists. I think the designed the track this way to attract cyclocross bikers, since cyclocross is not an Olympic discipline.

I'm riding road bike. This is something very hard to watch- can't even imagine what is a stress for legs and arms in that kind of track.

Patrick have you ridden at hadleigh? They put rocks either side of the technical features and if you crash it would be really bad

No. They aren't! It's steep, it's rocky, it's loose. You basically explained that you don't know by saying that you don't MTB. You clearly don't know anything. No beginner would ride that.
