As much as Gretzky and Jordan are paired with each other, Lemieux was the Jordan of the NHL. Both had careers of undeniable greatness that left you wondering what if they hadn’t had so much time away from the game at the peak of their careers. In a draft, you’d be hard pressed to pick anyone for your team before Jordan, even though there are more accomplished players with points and championships. Same for Lemieux.
They also started the same year, 1984. Both won their first scoring championship (1988), first regular season MVP (1988), first championship (1991) and first playoff MVP (1991) in the same seasons. After 1991, they met up at a golf course and they both were going through something that only the other would know which was the relief they felt at being known as scoring champions who couldn’t win championships.

Mario Lemieux is the most talented player I've ever seen. Many agree, including the great Bobby Orr. And Orr saw Gretzky and Howe play.
