    Yet another great video Ivor, although I rather suspect that improving my own technical limitations may reap greater rewards. Three things …..
    1. I’m still awful at achieving consistent barre chords, particularly on the B string. Visually the set-up looks pretty ok and I’d be very nervous mucking around with the nut. Thoughts?
    2. It’s time I donated to you. How can I do this?
    3. Great to see HK reach 💯and return to the scoresheet
    PS YNWA!!

    • @ivorsorefingers
      @ivorsorefingers  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Paul. Firstly, glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the coffee's you bought me via Buy Me A Coffee which are much appreciated. Secondly, unfortunately as I'm not able to see your Barre chord issue first hand, all I can suggest is that you keep practicing them and be persistent. It's a very common issue which does usually come good with time. Thirdly, if you are not comfortable carrying out repairs/modifications to your guitar I would urge you to take it to a reputable guitar technician or luthier to have any work done, especially if you have an expensive/cherished guitar. Lastly, yes it's good to see HK scoring again.
      Regards, Ivor

    Dear Ivor, thank you for your interesting video. I have already seen the linked video before, and have asked myself "why are not all guitars prepared like that, if it is that easy?", what you explained sounds comprehensible. Would you also recommend this for a rather expensive, already well sounding guitar? I mean, I have some concerns cutting in a guitar, worth a month's salary...
    Best regards from Vienna!

    Hi Ivor - your video has prompted me to comment on a couple of things. Firstly, did you test your guitar before and after the modification with the same set of strings - new strings always sound better? Secondly, looking at the other guy's video there is a danger of chewing and weakening the bridge plate with bad sawing. The extra ball contact he achieved looks minimal to me, the greater benefit is likely to come from a better break angle over the saddle. The main movement of the soundboard is created from the strings contact with the saddle and being held between saddle and ball ends - the soundboard is not activated by the contact of the ball ends - ref a Spanish guitar! Of course you may sense some improvement because things are tighter, but beware of placebos! A cheap saw for cutting slots can be made from a piece of coping saw blade glued into a dowel for a handle.
    Love your videos Ivor, hope I don't sound too cynical. Cheers Terry

    Do you still recommend using brass bridge pins as indicated in one of your equipment updates Ivor?

    • @ivorsorefingers
      @ivorsorefingers  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      After carrying out this mod the bridge pins do not have any contact with the string so don't effect the sound. I've gone back to my original plastic pins as they are a better fit in the holes than the brass ones I was using prior to the mod. Because there is no contact with the string anymore the brass ones were loose in the hole and fell out easily. Ivor
